Even business school were #8 and Harvard is #5… also the 40% is irrelevant because once you get accepted… you then have to get accepted into the programs you want, which best case will accept 25-30%. So really you might think 40%. It’s more like 10%. Plus you’d be surprised how intelligent Michiganders are lol we have some of the best schools period from pre school up. So now imagine those out of state students. Harvard is prestigious due to it being an Ivy League, medical school same level, law school same level. In engineering in general we are the superior university. We also have Ross school of business, which is literally in the same exact league. You can say Harvard just holds a higher value name, but that’s ultimately it. An employer can easily pick a UofM student over a Harvard student. Now let’s say I went to a more random university even if it’s good in said field. Harvard will always top it. Same goes for UofM in comparison to someone who went to a random university. I think you are getting it mixed up. It’s around 30% to get in assuming you already have the necessary GPA.. then once you are in getting into engineering will be about 25% chance of being accepted. So you see 30%. I see 25% of the 30% this really only around 15% get accepted into these programs. Ik people who got rejected and they’re incredible at math etc. It just depends on how heavy the amount of applicants are. That being said also look at the incomes students receive after graduating from UofM and compare it to Harvard lol… same level. When I went to law school, I did in fact attend, one of my professors did an LLM at Harvard, they would often wear a Harvard shirt at events, to lean into the joke. (I dropped out of law school with a semester to go, by the way.)
