When Kevin was born his first cry had reverb on it
😂😂😭😭
Pissing myself over this comment lmao
Very astute observation!
naturally, and and a subtle slapback delay
Hahaha good one
THEY GOT THE OLD GANG BACK TOGETHER
So glad to see Nick back
seing Nick back on Bass again is so beautiful. But I heard that Cam Avery (the former Bassist) might have split from the live band, so it would be great if Nick becomes the new bassist permanently.
@@atrautwein12 he's been posting on IG from NYC so i think it's just a distance thing
@@angusb-t3604 yep, that would be also my guess. I just heard from another fan that one of them unfollowed each other , or such a bullshit. But that doesnt has to mean something
Yes!!
I'm homeless as of a few weeks ago, due to a suicide attempt and the fallout that's happened in my life since. This song is straight up making me weep. Because I'm still here. Strictly speaking, I'm still on track. I guess I really needed to hear this today. Please keep rocking, Kevin.
Edit: I'm back living with my folks again so I'm safe, at least. Thanks for the well wishing, UA-cam friends.
Edit 2: a little over a year later and I'm right on track. Decent job, place of my own even if it's a bit dumpy. No joke, all the well wishing from this comment helped me a lot and I owe youtube comments section a debt of gratitude.
Everything will be fine. It has to. We love you, mate
Keep fighting man you will overcome
A great Hug for you mate, persevere, you deserte to be happy.
Always forward my dude.
Im here if you ever need to talk xo proud of you for going back home!!!!! Good move ❤️
kevin decided not to multiply himself this time
So humble of him to not multiply himself for us mere peasants
i mean we don't want him to become unstoppable, one more copy in "Why won't they talk to me" and the world would get dominated
Orkazzz ! Would that be so bad tho? A world being run by impalas
Unfortunately so
**Heyy listen to Le départ by Emma Rousset
"I know it's been a slow year, nothing much to show here, I didn't really go for it, so not a lot to show for it"
-A personal attack
I know
I wonder what's Kevin talking about in these lyrics
"And I took that personally."
@@sterkar99 Probably in reference to the whole theme of the album. Change and growing up, having second thoughts or worries about completely devoting himself to another person for the rest of his life.
SKK gr I kind of thought it was directly referencing album completion and how slow rush kept getting pushed back.
Man I never realized how much Kevins voice has improved live since lonerism days. Also this song should be the theme song of 2020 lol
I'd say he's using some kind of autotune.. barely noticable, but I think it's there. Same as his Why Won't You Talk To Me 2020 version.
@@TStormGuy Nah even his other live versions recorded early this year have been amazing vocally! And not even hitting the notes, his tone and control has gotten insanely better compared to previous years
@@TStormGuy There was an accoustic version of On Track with just Kevin on the guitar and with no vocal processing whatsoever, and he was perfect. I think people mistake effects like chorus and reverb for pitch correction and as soon as an artist like Kevin gives a good performance people are quick to cry out pitch correction. He's just a good singer and he's said he's been getting vocal coaching in the past few years after realising it wouldn't effect the style of his voice.
@@TStormGuy Yeah it's the TC Helicon autotune pedal. He uses it lightly though.
Even without effects, go back and listen to live versions of Lonerism. He used to place the vowels for his high notes in his nose, which is very common and makes hitting G’s and up a lot easier, but has a very “tinny” and nasally sound. Kevin’s got that shit completely locked in his chest now and it sounds noticeably better.
This should be part of the 2020 end credits
Bruh your comment are way to accurate stop it 😂😂
Well, that would be a perfect idea, been through so much of it for the past couple of years,, and this song truly uplift me up like nothing else, thank god such an amazing time to be alive!!! 🖤
Man, can we just appreciate Kevin's band?
They replicate what he laid down on the recordings so dang good.

The most underrated song on The Slow Rush by a mile
All songs on the slow rush are underrated by a milr
Honestly! It's amazing all around
My favourite
I don't know about that all of the songs are greatly underrated
The best song*
The return of Nick ❤️
Whats happen with Cameron??? Its crazy and unexpected move!!
@@ignaciopizarro1115 could just be temporary, but I've heard rumors of a falling out between him and Kevin.
Was it Shiny Joe Ryan on the right? Never saw him playing with Tame Impala before!
@@mvlabat yah it's Mr. SHINY JOE on the tambourine
I love Nick so much, so happy to see they together playing again like the old times :,)

TAME IMPALA 1.0
A song made specially for 2020

it’s almost like kevin knew what was gonna happen with coronavirus lmao
Its the accuracy for me
Unintentionally!

So glad I’m not alone!!!
It's that bad. You're absolutely right!
@@axelmcleod8427 Easy buddy, easy. We can't all love Travis Tritt Bud
When you thought you could not love this track more, a live version sets your heart to overflowing.
I adore this version
the drumming in this song never ceases to amaze me
Clinical isn't it x
Right on

Totally agree... when that drumming kicks in...

“But strictly speaking I’m still on crack”
- Tim Pala 2020
lmfao
😂
Currence
I think you mean Tim and Paula
@@rhysphelan4826 ah yes, my favorite album, Currence.
I remember listening to the Slow Rush on Valentine's when it was released, on my noise cancelling headphones just staring at the ceiling playing through the full track list. What an amazing piece of artistry. As the pandemic got worse, and I discovered each song was attributed to a certain month of the year (January 2020, February...December 2020 etc.) I began to listen to each month's song with much closer attention.
On Track represents July 2020. I remember feeling hopeless, so tired of everything being shutdown, but this song brought me a little bit of hope. Like, at least I'm still On Track - despite it all. ♥
"The hardest part is over...so glad you're coming over...the world ain't waiting for you....we're just a little older, the rest comes easy..."
I never noticed that and thats awesome
A grand piano, hot synth lead, two different organs all in the intro. So good at layering sounds.
that's a nice grand piano! im glad to see Tame Impala live and nominated for Grammies. Plus them playing a grand piano! can they bring it on tour?
@@stephanvillavicencio5679 he’s not playing the grand piano, the Korg Kronos 2 is sat on top of it 😂
and a freakin 12 string guitar
Oh look, a psychedelic glowing God from the past, but also so rooted in the sounds of the future. All the while remaining so revelant to how now feels. I love Kevin, man.. may he continue to evolve and share his sounds with us :)
I feel the same about him hahaha only good stuff!
Acid Jesus
Kevin's essence is so pure, he's always really feeling it. Love to see him preform live
hell of a preformer
One of the greatest preformers to have ever preformed
Tame Impala, no crazy lightshows (as much as I like them), pure authenticity and soul. I like this sober version of them on stage. Cool to see Nick on the bass for this one !
Strictly speaking, I'm very happy to see Nick Allbrook on bass again
Strictly speaking, I'm still repeating this song on track.
The "Is been a slow year, nothing much to show here" hits different compared to February when i first heard it
I can't believe I saw these guys back in 2010 when they OPENED for MGMT at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. I remember they were all barefoot. I had no idea they would become this huge, but I loved them from the start.
Nick Albrook playing the bass like the good old f*cking times ♥️.
it’s like he predicted 2020 w this song and album
The struggle didn’t just start. The struggle has been happening.
"I know it's been a slow year
Nothing much to show here
I didn't really go for it
So not a lot to show for it"
sums 2020 up perfectly. It's prophetic.
@@gamby16a you do realize this album is about him chasing his musical dreams and career????
@@eriklopez1680 Um yeah. I read a ton of press about it. I also realize it was written well before the pandemic. You do realize how well it fits in with the pandemic theme, regardless???
The best song on The Slow Rush! It’s either On Track or One More Hour for me!
Couldn't agree more. Both the best songs on there
As someone who graduated college during a pandemic and is questioning everything, this song gives me so much comfort. Feels like it was made for me, which I’m sure is something a lot of people feel
Kevin make it for u bro, its your song.
Thats why we love him, because you can feel Kevin its talking to you.
@@sayomiller9612 facts homie
Right there with you, jumping from graduation into quarantine was the strangest thing but we got this, were gonna make it
Right here as well. Worked hard for five years to graduate and now I feel lost more than ever. I also feel like a giant failure especially after losing two jobs due to the pandemic and not be able to find anything attached to my degree. This song hits close to home and hopefully soon this will all end. Thanks Kevin, Psychedelic Jesus for this 2020 anthem
me too bro!! I feel you.. we’re in this together
So great to see Nick at the helm of the bass, he's such a great artist
Very cool guys
Why can’t I escape you
Thanks
It's actually just one guy. Kevin and the Tame Impalas, if you will.
@@imorokr Hmm nah 😆
@@imorokr Weeee knowww lol
Do my eyes deceive me?! N-nick? Is that you?!
I love how it looks essentially like a 60's act, complete with vintage double kick, SG bass and 12 string acoustic!
oh damn your right super 60's looking choices with the setup haha
Supertramp with Cream
@@stratofrank I thought cream too!
I thought more 1970s seeing the sg bass in that configuration is more 70s era
@@IsaacRossMusic1 makes sense

I didn’t recognize him ! So glad he’s back

Getting all nostalgic seeing Nicky boi back on the bass. Man, the whole mix here sounds awesome!
While writing my master's thesis anytime I was about to leave everything, this was my endurance song. So, it'll always have a special place for me. Thanks, Kevin.
Sama here man
The grand return of Nick Allbrook!
It would be better if we could hear him in the mix
@@elliepond5984 yeah, for sure! I saw Pond in 2017 and Tame Impala in 2019
So nice to see him rocking the bass again! Just need to get back the good old Höfner now
@@elliepond5984 Hmm strange, I think he's sitting in the mix nicely.
"The hardest part is over" i hope it's true
I close my front door and turn on the light
I let out a breath and hold in a sigh
Ain't nothin' new, ain't that much inside
And if I'm counting days, dream fruition ain't what it's looking like
But strictly speaking, I'm still on track
Strictly speaking, I'm holding on
One other minor setback
But strictly speaking, I'm still on track
And all of my dreams are still in sight
'Cause strictly speaking, I've got my whole life
I lost a wheel a while back
But strictly speaking, I'm still on track
Challenges falling in my lap
Strung out again, but still on track
I know it's unrealistic, over-optimistic
I know I tried before this, I know it's nearly August
I know I can't ignore this, I’m looking forward to all this
Sayin', "Babe, I just adore this, but, babe, can we afford this?"
I know it's been a slow year, nothin' much to show here
I didn't really go for it, so not a lot to show for it
The hardest part is over, adjusting makes it slower
So glad you're coming over, a wall to bring us closer
The world ain't waitin' for ya, nothin' to lose it over
We're just a a little older, the rest comes easy
The rest comes easy
But strictly speaking, I'm still on track
Strictly speaking, I'm holding back
Struggles keep falling in my lap
Yeah, yeah, but strictly speaking, I'm still on track
So tell everyone I'll be alright
'Cause strictly speaking, I've got my whole life
More than one major setback
But strictly speaking, I'm still on track, yeah
The hardest part is over, adjusting makes it slower
So glad you're coming over, a wall to bring us closer
The world ain't waiting for ya, nothin' to lose it over
We're just a little older, the rest comes easy
The rest comes easy
Why would he say "all of my dreams are still inside"? It's clearly "In sight"
@@markc266 hey listen man I’ll gladly correct the mistake but I just posted this to help out other people who want to read along with the lyrics as they listen. You didn’t have to sound so rude about it. Kevin doesn’t annunciate very clearly in his singing which is part of his sound

WOOO
Nick is back
Shiny Joe Ryan with the tambourine
HOLY JESUS HAS UPLOADED OMFG
lol
whoever engineered this performance deserves a raise holy shit
It's so hard trying to carve out your own life... I've been struggling with this lately. Just feeling a little lonely and a bit unaccomplished. It's a weird thing, but it's so nice to hear that idea in song form. There are many bumps and hurdles on the path to your version of success, but regardless of the many obstacles, it's important to remember we are still on that path; still on track. I love Mr. Parker for always making me feel understood. Music is so beautiful in that way.
Ladies and gentlemen we present you NICK........ ALLBROOK👏👏👏👏
I love that comment :D
This sounds so clear and crisp
Never thought this song would be this bittersweet the first time I heard it in February. Now with 2020 coming to a close in a month, it hits different.
Dude it’s almost 2023. We made it!
"We're just a little older" SO much nostalgia! Shiny Joe on tambo, Nick on bass, and Dom playing the old Les Paul!
Kevin is totally channeling Roger Hodgson with the white shirt and the 12 string !
I knew I wasn’t the only one thinking this!
Is true,
Props to the sound engineer. This sounds amazing with the piano and drums being the highlight. The first tom roll and snare hit are extra crispy.
ITS "WE"RE JUST A LITTLE OLDER"
Damn, what all things I used to sing
To everyone saying "Nick's back!!!!" He never went away. POND rules!
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
Nice too see the Pond lads back together with Kev!
Shivers went down my spine, when he begun singing
The drums in this song make me feel like I can breathe fire.
Nick and Joe playing in Tame = Tears of Joy !!!!!!!!!!!
Tame Impala is the reason i haven't gone crazy because of this world circumstance in which it feels like we only go backwards. I don't watch the news anymore cause the less I know the better, I'm scared that nothing that has happened so far has been anything we could control. It distress me but I pretend I don't really mind. I'm tired of having apocalypse dreams, I'm on the borderline. Sometimes I get lost in yesterday remembering my past life and I lose my lucidity, then I realize it's been one more hour and maybe it will become one more year. I was wrong when I said solitude is bliss, now I feel alone and I miss everyone, Why won't they talk to me?
When I drink a half full glass of wine and I listen to his songs I feel patience and I feel sun's coming up, then is when I think eventually, the moment I have been waiting for will come. I just breathe deeper and think "it might be time to let it happen".
I like to think that yes, I'm changing, but then my alter ego tells me "Keep on lying to yourself, your gonna be a new person, same old mistakes" and it descourages me. Maybe my expectation won't become true, maybe it is not meant to be.
Seriously underrated comment!
Well done......
How much time did you have I dig it though lol
I hate this comment more than I can say
Masterpiece!
Great performance 💙 Jay's piano adds the grand vibe to this version. Also such a warm feeling from seeing everybody back together on stage. Love you Nick!
i’m crying, kevin you are an angel.
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
I didn’t realize how touching the lyrics are. I didn’t think I was gonna cry. Thank you Kevin for making me feel like I’m not alone in this world.
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
congratulations on all the well deserved wins, Kev
NEXT STOP : GRAMMY WIN ! 🏆
grammy is rigged kevin would never win i believe

Don’t forget to boycott the Grammy’s
don't lose hope. if they win, great. if not, then pphhhhhtttt [blowing raspberries]
He deserves to win but politics is a bi!ch.
Obsessed with this version. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
You might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like Tame Impala
Every time I get lost for a while and can finally come back to this song and listen to it and actually enjoy it I know I’m still on TRACK

They upgraded.
So refreshing to see Nick back on the bass.
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
This group is incredible!!! Accidentally found em @2am during another night of dazed insomnia...🤯🥰
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
This is literally the best, most epic live version of “On Track”. My God what a year🤦🏾♂️. Love you Kev♥️✨
There's such a beautiful juxtaposition between the grandiose, stadium-filling sound of the production, and the underlying sense of insecurity and self-assurance in the lyrics that just picks you up and motivates you to push forward regardless of all the uncertainties you have.
I love this song so much. Whenever I feel overwhelmed with school, work, family, or friends I just think to myself, "Well strictly speaking, I'm still on track. I'm still alive and breathing." This song really grounds you to reality and count your blessings. Thank you for this song.
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
I actually cried real tears listening to this. It's so fucking beautiful and ridiculously poignant right now. And holy shit Nick is back!!!!! Love you immensely, Kevin. Congratulations to you and the whole crew. So much love.🎶🎶♥️🎶🎶
This song got me through this painful 2020. Thank God for Kevin Parker, thank God for Tame Impala...
According to Spotify, in 2020 i listened to almost 16,000 hours of Tame Impala.. my top artist was Tame Impala and the top 5 songs were from Tame Impala.. sounds like a great year to me!!
How is Kevin parker so good, he's like the iron man of music, a one man army, a psychedelic Jesus here as the second coming to save us with groove, if you ever get the chance to see him live take it, cant wait for him to release a new album, I need more music like it, I did just find a cool tune that kind of reminded me of tame impala, lonely gimmick - grumpy days, I like the guys other stuff as well, its like tame impala but more funky with some Hendrix guitar, worth a listen
Does Kevin read these comments? Kevin, you are adorable, thank you for your music, it has given me so much peace over the last few months (this year);this song is beautiful. I hope you are safe and well!❤️😊
this is exactly what i just needed, thank you tame impala
Glad to see some live performances happening! Especially from Tame Impala 🥰
Hard not to cry listening to these lyrics

This is the best live of the band, ever. IT SOUNDS EXACTLY, like the song. The mixing and mastering, BRILLIANT. KEVIN, beautiful.
Best song on the album
