To clarify, this video is solely looking at the unique effect that all Suppressors have in relation to the other muzzle attachments, not individual suppressors with their own additional effects. There are a ton of different suppressors with different effects outside of the sound/compass/mini map suppression and you still may want to use them for those characteristics but that's outside the scope of this video. This is only meant for testing characteristics that are unique to the suppressor subcategory.

Launchers are actually crazy strong in this game as a result of how powerful UAVs and Counter UAVs are. Turn on scorestreaks, run a launcher, and your team will perform WAY better as a result.
As someone who doesn't enjoy CoD but plays it because of my friend group, I can't stress how good this strategy is. You become the support player; you're an asset to the team even if you personally lose more gunfights. Put on motion sensors or trophy systems for your field upgrade, claymores/proxy mines, run a launcher on your back, and use ghost (and cold blooded on a secondary class for if/when chopper gunners are called). You are the annoying enemy that the enemy team hates bexause you nullify their hard earned streaks as well as shutdown their equipment spam and positional skills.
The problem I've run into is that the first team to get a UAV seems to end up steam rolling and there becomes an almost constant stream of UAVs. No joke I played one game where I destroyed 2 UAVs then not ten seconds later 2 more were up in the air. It's also no fun constantly shooting down UAVs instead of actually playing. This is the first CoD I've felt like UAVs are extremely oppressive.
Suppressors are best used as a heavy barrel addition/alternative. The ones that improve range and recoil are nice, as long as you have some ADS attachments.
the problem I've noticed is that there are contradictions. the pros and cons for attachments says it will decrease range, but the description of the suppressor says it increases it , which one do you believe ?
I agree with something like the shotguns for instance where you get range in addition to being silent. At least they tried to make suppressors do a bit more in some cases since the utility of being silent just isn’t the same. That being said, I think it’s a complete crime that ghost is an ultimate perk. I’d say that in all of my matches, uav is probably in the air 50% of the time average. Ghost should be basic perk that only works while moving. Then silencers could be more useful as well
for real tho, idk if it’s bc i haven’t really played since early cold war (bc these games fucking suck) but i feel like they cranked up sbmm. i used to have no problem getting a 2.0 3.0 KD on average even in cold war and mw19 but i don’t not think i’ve broke like 1.5 so far in mw2
I feel like this is a subtle knock at certain players but people are only looking at the surface. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. Like, why not a matching chastity belt with the they wear IRL. Lol.
I definitely feel that suppressors are best used in modes like WZ, GW, and Invasion. Longer sightlines and it is incredibly easy to flank the frontline on Invasion when Ghost becomes available. UAVs in modes like Invasion are spammed consistenly throughtout the entire match.
To be honest suppressors are okay invasion but not great because you need ghost for it to work well with it however the issue is by the time you've unlocked ghost very rarely is one side not dominating the other so either you're trapped in Your spawn or very close to your spine and unless people are not paying attention at all you're not going to be able to flank around it and the same thing if your team is doing the crushing you can't really flank into the enemy team spawn even if you got that close without any of them noticing you on most of the maps there's no good attack from the side location that doesn't have the game auto kill you for getting too close to the enemy team spawn. Edit: I still run ghost because I just don't like being on the radar in general but it's really upsetting to not be able to do any sneaky flanks at the start or manage to stealth past the enemy team get set up behind them and go to shoot them in the back because what happens is you go do that maybe you'll get one or two kills and then the enemy team has radar and the people that are being killed up ahead now know where you are and they just use the radar to wall that you or toss a grenade or whatever. The perk system is okay I guess but you can't really have a perk such as ghost being an ultimate park. Also the fact that unsuppressed fire doesn't show up on the radar unless you AV is up is pretty stupid in my opinion many many many many times and invasion I've been killed by an enemy to my side thinking that it was one of my AI guys shooting their gun because I'll hear gunshots and I reflexively look to my radar and see nothing
Oh yea, sniping can be very stealthy UAV or other stuff, use cold blooded/ghost Supressora to also hide from uav and bot be heard And if you dont want youe gaint to be seen while finding your next target or getting the distance (basically the time period before your aiming and soon shooting) you can use the spotter scope as it dowsnt have glint and can turn the thermal on and off
@@Novalux05 sadly it seems ghost is either hopefully bugged or this is intentional but if you shoot a gun with a suppressor on even during a UAV ghost is deactivated for 3 seconds so if you get really unlucky you can get hit by two sweeps of the UAV after firing one bullet I guess you're just regular luck you only get hit by one sweep currently there is no point to using a suppressor unless you are going to be shooting people in the back from above an invasion but even then they're going to know you're there
@@TheWoWisok yea, from personal experience, due to how invasion/ground war can be, I've been able to survive for a while longer using spotter scope to hide my glint and having a suppressor, but it also may just feel useful and really it's more the fact I'm in the back not engaging 10 enemies at once and theyre having more worrisome targets then me Tho it does feel different from cod mw19
Was actually pretty sick to hear the way the sound of the shots will change as you get near the shooter. Obviously they’d get louder but they seemed to have a slightly different tone once you hit certain distances from them
I think suppressors should also make it harder to pinpoint the shooter using directional audio. That would be very useful if you're trying to move around stealthily.
Yep super sonic crack is omnidirectional so you can't tell direction. Unless you are close enough to hear gasses exiting suppressor your should be not detectable by directional sound. They could gamify it and make it not hearable at shorter distance like 30m ..
@@42ZaphodB42 silencers are not realistic in the first place. They don't make sound like in the movies or video games or add benefits. I'm guess you mean the normal way silence guns work in video games.
As a solo player that doesn’t have the time to play with my friends like I used to, it’s unfortunate not to have ghost right away because of the the squads running UAVs. How they managed to make ghost/map/compass/suppressed/unsuppressed interactions this convoluted is beyond me. Especially when you consider ghost is a bonus perk that you don't start with. These are just not things you want to use your brain power on in 6v6 modes most of the time. Complicating things like that in a game where simplicity is the foundation is oddly out of place.
Their general usage may be gone, but to an extent they can still be used as good barrel attachments, like increasing damage range and recoil smoothness and all that.
I noticed the compass red dot gets bigger the closer you are to the sound of fire so I would say it’s not totally redundant and I’ve used it to get a general idea of where enemies are because the audio can’t always be relied on
Suppressors are good for increasing your damage and accuracy. A great example is that they are the best attachments for shotguns. Massively boosts their one shot kill range
Always appreciate what you do for each COD game. So many mechanics and gameplay elements are unbelievably obscure and without these videos I wouldn't know over half of what is going on. Thanks Ace
here's why Suppressors are useless, the game (At this moment) has so much audio bugs that an enemy can be shooting at you and the bullets are flying past your head, but you won't hear a thing, or get any suppression . IW already added permanent suppressors for everyone! lmaoo
You also have to take into account that there are suppressors that *do* actually increase bullet velocity without a range penalty and effect recoil. So they aren't entirely as widely utilitarian as in previous games, but do have their uses beyond just staying off the UAV mini map, compass and such. Also just me personally, I've run into many situations where I've had delayed reactions from people when taking out someone next to them. The register the death, but don't get the direction of where it's coming from down fast enough to take me out, compared to other situations where the opposite happens and either I get turned on and killed, or end up in an unexpected gunfight. Against headset users, sure the sound dampening isn't as obvious of a thing in the moment, but it has it's major benefits against people that aren't. On top of that, it keeps me from blasting my own ears out when using a gun... There's no great sound mixing for that in 2019 or 2020. I ran a suppressor on practically everything in MW2019 not just to stay off the radar or other benefits, but for the aforementioned reason as well. Doesn't blast my ears and keeps me more situationally aware as well.
@@ChuckD99 It's just a little ridiculous. Especially when the audio briefly decides that an SMG is going to sound like an AR briefly, or anything suddenly sounds like a damn marksman or battle rifle. x-x Dunno why that sound glitch happens, only seemed to have started after the season one update for me.
A few things are missing: 1: does having a suppressor make it easier to hear others? 2: muzzle flash 3: how do the suppressors stack up to other attachments? Are their downsides too severe? Are the other muzzles any good (we saw this with the close range vanguard meta and the recoil booster)?
The only thing I was looking for in this video was “does a suppressor show up if someone has birdseye equips?” I guess I’ll have to figure that out myself.
Love that you showed us how useless the ghost perk is without a suppressor. Would have liked it if you would've put more data out about individual suppressors. Because I mostly use the harbinger d20 for its damage range and bullet velocity increases. When I was playing with snipers a lot I'd also use a suppressor that increased damage range and bullet velocity (idk the name).
3:38 Honestly I'm starting to hate the new perk system based on what you just mentioned. I find myself making 2 loadouts when lvling a gun 1 with whatever i want, then the other with a launcher. My internal count is if 2 UVAs go up and don't get shot down I switch to the launcher loadout. Not very fun but helps me die less and helps the team so whatever. EDIT: 7:30 oh you mention switching here my bad.
If we already need to switch classes midgame, they need to add more than 10 loadouts. It's just not enough. Too bad it would be horrible with their "UI".
I certainly don't like the way they do it but I do kinda like how more people are supporting the team now. I'm sure there's a better way to encourage teamplay than this though.
Great video. I do miss the old days in MW2 though where you could be truly stealthy. Perks were instant like cold blooded and ghost and dead silence. Suppressors mattered way more. Maps were large enough that a knife-wielding riot shield maniac wasn't so viable. Better times back then... minus 1 man army noob tubers
Something you didn't mention and that is mostly like in real life is that suppressors conceal muzzle flash pretty well from your pov as well as other players (you can see it at 1:06 ) and in most cases it adds a buff to your bullet velocity/damage range, it's like a barrel extension of sorts. sadly it seems to add even more smoke on screen from what I've experienced.
Real suppressors do add a lot of smoke in real life though. They conceal the flash, sure, but they're surprisingly smokey. The first time I fired a suppressed carbine in close quarters it was so smokey my eyes started burning.
Suppressors are quite nice when using weapons with a ton of muzzle flash or if they improve bullet velocity/range. I do agree with your assessment on the perk system though Ace, the way stealth perks currently function seriously disincentivizes stealth and aggressive forms of it.
One thing I'll add; I know they improved it a bit since the beta but still Suppressors will help cut down on the excessive muzzle flashes and smoke when firing some guns. If you use a full auto weapon and are engaging with Med/Long range targets you want all the visual clarity you can get.
I wish also, but its infinity ward, they dont listen for shit, and people that agree with them is people who played mw19 as their first cod and mfs who loved to camp
I think the whole reason the red dots were added in the first place, is because most people when the mechanic was introduced, were playing on tv speakers, not headphones, directional audio wasn’t really easy to use when it came to locating enemies, but now that most if not all gamers have crazy good headsets, they aren’t needed anymore
That's not really distance, if I ask someone where the nearest Gas Station is and they say "That way, far" that doesn't help much if i'm low on Gas, distance is exact (like if they said "It's 2 and a half Miles that way") or at the very least a close estimate (like if they said "It's around 2-3 Miles that way") so since there's no exact numbers, there's not a clear distance from where you are to the enemy. Even if there's an enemies teammate near them with a slightly bigger diamond on the Compass, you know that that enemy is closer, but still not by how much. The vagueness of the Compass is what makes it kind of redundant, as Ace said.
Before having watched the video, my personal experience as a player who builds for damage/damage range/ads on most weapons is that i find myself using supressors on most of my weapon builds. It's a bummer that they removed blips for shots, but in the end most of my game have UAV up like 80% of the match, so it doesn't really bother me as much as i thought it would.
Hey ace, idk if you've addressed this yet, but do you know what happens to your charged perks when you switch classes? As in if you picked a hyper agro class and rushed your ultimate perk, then switched to another class, would you get the other class' ult perk immediately or would you need to charge it again? I don't remember how it worked in the beta (or if they changed it if they did)
It stays charged, also It works with whatever current charged perks you have atm, tho it may say otherwise in game when you reach your ult, the visual and dialogue cue contradict each other so disregard that, it’s whatever you equip
Its far from perfect, but they seemed to have met their goal with the changes in that everyone is not running suppressors on their weapons 100% of the time. There are more pros and cons now and in effect will lead to more variety in attachment setups. It is also clear to me that they have changed from a design perspective of audio cue focus over visual cue focus when assessing threats in game.
I’m happy with the changes. We don’t need cookie cutter releases every year and they’re finally moving in the right direction. Now I can enjoy other attachments on my barrel.
I don't think the compass is redundant for me at least. Especially in smaller maps where gunfights are happening all over the place, I can't tell which sounds are enemy fire or friendly fire so having the extra Intel of the red diamonds helps a lot and I also think people don't use them nearly as much as they should
It seems like suppressors are useful for increasing range, or in some cases mitigating recoil They also have the added benefit of counter intelligence in a lot of cases. They make it harder to pinpoint your location, you also don't show up on UAV Radar and compass radar. And then there's the general satisfaction of using a suppressed weapon and feeling like a stealthy operator.
Specifically for noise reduction I've noticed it does help a lot. I use it for platinum grinding but I've noticed that between the muzzle flash suppression and the silencing, people have a hard time pin pointing you.
I would be really curious to see testing on the recoil characteristics on some suppressors vs other muzzle devices. for me if i get the small benefits you listed on top of recoil mitigation, and the gun looks dope, than im using it.
why is no one talking about the bullet velocity improvements you get when using a suppressor? that seems to be the most important factor in choosing between a suppressor and a muzzle
Suppressors in general: I agree with you for the most part but some of them that only make that "tin can sound" or whatever you wanna call it....those are VERY HARD TO PIN POINT FAST, so I think they are EXTREMELY GOOD IN NO RESPAWN MODES, where even if it only takes the enemy half a second longer to pinpoint you i think it's worth. EDIT: I also think there are some niche uses for it in tight buildings/rooms. This is just my personal experience, but I've been able to get triple or quad kills out of random luck b/c I sneak up/flank 3 guys and shoot the one in the back and more than half the time if the other 2 are looking forward they don't even notice or can't tell where it came from.
What about straight up quieter gunshots like suppressors are intended for. Are suppressors better for avoiding being heard or are they still audible across any distance?
I know on Beta the "Pineapple" grip helped ALOT with horizontal recoil mainly...but w/out exact numbers and what not you're gonna have to wait for Ace to test or test yourself. No clue if the "pineapple" grip is still "the best" attachment for recoil like it was on Beta, kind of doubting it since we had limited access to everything on beta.
You mentioned that the compass doesn't show any range information, but it definitely gives you a distance range. The diamond is bigger or smaller depending on how far the person shooting is from you. I've used it a few times to determine what room someone was inside of when you are in a building with multiple rooms
The usefulness comes from the recoil damage range and bullet velocity on top of tha little red dot disappearing as soon as I see a dot show up on the compass I go to it or look
I definitely think these changes are more for Warzone and DMZ things like the compass and distance are much more of a priority when your dealing with a huge map with many different points of interest.
It's crazy how bad the perk system is, and how stubborn IW is being over it. It is definitely one of the bigger detractors of fun for this game for me and my friends.
When there's more than one firefight going on, supressed guns are definitely much harder to hear, especially far away. It's also generally harder to pinpoint the direction of the shot. There's other uses for suppressors too, like mitigating recoil and increasing range. I still think this game makes the UAV insanely OP with how there's no ghost for the first 3-4 minutes, a measly 4 killstreak shouldn't turn around the tide of a match like that, it should be made 5-6 kills
Would be cool to see the difference walking up on a suppressed smg vs assault rifle. I bet the suppressor on the smg is a lot more effective. They pay quite a bit of attention to realism in this game.
I find that the actual sound suppression works well to stay stealthy. People just find it more difficult to locate you based on the sound of your gun firing. Edit: I should mention I play mostly ground war.
From my experience if you are playing sneaky and happen to find yourself behind 2 or 3 players, a suppressor may be the difference in you killing 1 or all 3 of the enemies. Like you say even in a small room it's hard to tell where it's coming from at first.
@@Romoredux I agree, I noticed the same thing. Sometimes it helps you stay undetected for just a second or two longer and that's all you need to win some gunfights. Especially when flanking, which I do a lot.
What about the ACTUAL + & - of each suppressor..? So is there still a benefit of using one of the suppressors because it increases damage range, recoil control, etc.. over say one of the muzzle breaks with there benefits..?
Even with this evidence I feel like I do better with a suppressor on which is weird could be the other benefits the suppressor provides. It also could just be a placebo effect lol.
It’s mostly placebo. I have the same feeling. Suppressors make me feel like I have no recoil even tho it’s not changing. It makes the gun feel smoother. It’s a weird feeling
It wouldn't be the first time attachments didn't show stats correctly And surpressors hide you if there's a UAV up which is almost always currently. People relying on watching dots move may not be noticing you as much
Number 1 place COD devs fail in a major way is actual firearm and attachment function. The very basics are correct. Suppressor for example actually only reduce noise by 10-30%. They actually reduce the bullets velocity and energy. 2 ammunition plays a huge part in the effectiveness of any gun. Hollow points for example tend to be low penetration and high damage vs armor piercing that will defeat body armor and go through. Guns, small barrel equals good close engagement but terrible power and longer barrels are good at long engagements and have good power. Firing modes and design are fairly accurate.
to be honest I actually never even noticed the mini map not working as usual during mw2019, I just assumed everybody was using a suppressor. I feel like when I was younger on the old MW games etc I relied on the map a lot but nowadays I just use gamesense to figure out where people are; especially in this game where you can hear everything an enemy is doing
Hope we are gonna see an option to use the perk system from the previous games. The incentive to use the new system could be the ability to pick 4 perks vs the old system's 3.
Correct me if im wrong, but if i remember right the suppressors remove the damage direction indricator near your opponents crosshair when you hit them which makes it almost impossible to react to flanking
One thing I think you missed was location of a shot coming from a suppressed gun. I have noticed a few times that I had no indication of where a shot was come from when im hit from a suppressor.
The developers at infinity ward failed to recognize that taking the red dots off the mini map when firing an unsuppressed weapon would NOT stop people from relying on red dots. I’ve played around 10 hours of this game already and noticed that the difference between a good team and a bad team is the amount of UAVs one team can get in a game. Which ever team gets the first UAV usually comes out on top no matter what. Because the team with the UAV knows where everyone is during the first half of the game and the team without the UAV keeps dying and dying bc they have no way to counter the UAV without A. Shooting it down or B. Calling a counter UAV. and by the time they counter it the other team can already have enough kills for a UAV while the team who never got one can’t do anything but hope for the best. In conclusion it makes the game lop sided and makes UAVs stronger than intended. It also makes “better” players stronger than subpar more casual players because the likely hood of someone getting a UAV completely depends on how many kills/points someone can get. If the “better” player gets more kills and uses a UAV then the casual player suffers. Therefore making their entire argument moot.
So if I have ghost and suppressor, I should never show in mini map? But if I have ghost and no suppressor, I won't show up on UAV radar scans but will show up when I fire? This would be the defining difference for me.
@@grrinc might not but it's extemely obvious whomst the target audience is. loud asf footsteps, indestructable doors, ghost as an ultimate perk, instant TTK, MW2019 minimap and suppressors being useless are enough proof of that i guess.

Ace I always look for your videos. Very well done and no bullshit about how great you are. Some of the other guys are super annoying, but your videos are straight to the facts. THank you!
They're pretty much only useful as recoil mitigation and to boost bullet velocity and range. I think thats pretty helpful, especially since we don't have any other muzzle devices that boost range and velocity. But I also think we should get a classic mini-map back. It would certainly help reduce the effectiveness of camping
Did you try this with ghost active? After seeing jackfrags video it seems you still come up on the mini-map with a suppressor equipped. Not sure if this is intended or bugged currently.
OK. Dumb question. Do suppressors affect a person being hit with suppressed weapon? Like maybe that red marker on the side of the screen that show where you're getting shot from aren't as precise? Or there is no effect on that.
Wow I might be the only one not having this problem. When people shoot an none suppressed gun around me it always shows up on my map. And I would say the same for people I play against. I notice the difference in how they react when i shoot with one.
Suppressor on snipers, battle rifles, marksman rifles (any long range weapons) in long range maps do noticeably reduce the sound of bullets shooting directly at you, where unsuppressed weapons give an obvious super loud snapping sound that immediately lets you know you're under fire and where it's coming from. I know this video talks about range, but it doesn't really talk about weapon types and the sound profile when the bullets are hitting very close to you. I'd also like to know if suppressed weapons make players see that blurry visual effect when you're being shot at like unsuppressed weapons do.
I think suppressors work better in longer range engagements. I used them in MW2019 to hunt snipers with marksman rifles and lower zoom optic (for no glint), so that snipers don't pick up on your location as quickly. Especially the large suppressors which also increase damage range.
I wonder if using subsonic ammunition affects the sound at all. They're supposed to be quieter because there is no transonic snap sound from breaking the sound barrier.
Suppressors also have different attributes now than just "suppressing sound". They have recoil mitigations, damage range increase and other benefits on several of them. I think but am not sure that they might help with muzzle flash and the smoke as well when firing the gun. So, all those things combine to make them useful even though there isn't a "classic" minimap. Sound is a little bit dampened as well so might be harder to pick out an enemy shooting if a lot of other shooting taking place as well.
I heard that if the enemy has a uav up, suppressors disable your ghost perk three seconds after shooting so will show up in the map after the shooting when the uav does a sweep
A little off topic but I think Cold Blooded and Birdseye should switch tiers. It's crazy to me that an uav is the strongest kill/score streak. And when you get a high streak, you can't see anyone.
I think they mostly made this change because in other MW games, it made no sense to NOT use a suppressor. This seems like an effort to change up "meta builds". In keeping with realism that they are striving for, suppressors only dampen the report from the gun. but the action of the weapon and the projectile ripping through the air at supersonic speeds is what remains noisy. I havent tried it yet, but maybe if you use subsonic rounds with it, you'll get that "hollywood" quiet signature. Other things the devs should consider for suppressors if they go that route are added recoil with more gas and backpressure, and point of impact shift or added inaccuracy with the gun running hotter that is common with attaching a suppressor.
To be honest as someone whos ran suppressors for many cod games, I think the nerfing of them in this way is in a sense better, I always felt like suppressors were too good to not run, now I have viable options. I think where it gets too far tuned is with the perk system, ghost while powerful really needs to be active more, I feel like the perks need to be rearranged some if we're going to be using this perk system for 2 years, or more added as well. Its like the first 2 perks you can select should be your desired playstyle, Stealth, Objective, Rusher, Camper, ect. then the bonus and ultimate perks should be additional bonuses, which to be honest most of them are, just ghost is an outlier and it's clearly there for how much it's picked in all cod games.
You should have shown the difference in gunfire sound with a suppressor and no suppressor with NO line of sight. I’m curious if I’m shooting my suppressor inside a building, can you hear it outside the building?
To clarify, this video is solely looking at the unique effect that all Suppressors have in relation to the other muzzle attachments, not individual suppressors with their own additional effects. There are a ton of different suppressors with different effects outside of the sound/compass/mini map suppression and you still may want to use them for those characteristics but that's outside the scope of this video. This is only meant for testing characteristics that are unique to the suppressor subcategory.

Jesus loves you alot trust in His death 4 salvation and be saved from eternal hell
Oh yea, sniping can be very stealthy
UAV or other stuff, use cold blooded/ghost
Supressora to also hide from uav and bot be heard
And if you dont want youe gaint to be seen while finding your next target or getting the distance (basically the time period before your aiming and soon shooting) you can use the spotter scope as it dowsnt have glint and can turn the thermal on and off
@@Novalux05 sadly it seems ghost is either hopefully bugged or this is intentional but if you shoot a gun with a suppressor on even during a UAV ghost is deactivated for 3 seconds so if you get really unlucky you can get hit by two sweeps of the UAV after firing one bullet I guess you're just regular luck you only get hit by one sweep currently there is no point to using a suppressor unless you are going to be shooting people in the back from above an invasion but even then they're going to know you're there
@@TheWoWisok yea, from personal experience, due to how invasion/ground war can be, I've been able to survive for a while longer using spotter scope to hide my glint and having a suppressor, but it also may just feel useful and really it's more the fact I'm in the back not engaging 10 enemies at once and theyre having more worrisome targets then me

@@bobfranklin2572 I just figured it meant each shot doesn't make all the muzzle climb at once. It's spread out over a longer time
Was actually pretty sick to hear the way the sound of the shots will change as you get near the shooter. Obviously they’d get louder but they seemed to have a slightly different tone once you hit certain distances from them
Games have been doing it for ages where you have a closer and further sound and it mixes between the two as you get closer
There's only a few games I can really think of but I know it mostly from mods in stalker
It also changes based on the room you’re in.
It would also be relatively realistic.
@@42ZaphodB42 silencers are not realistic in the first place. They don't make sound like in the movies or video games or add benefits. I'm guess you mean the normal way silence guns work in video games.
This is exactly what we need. Makes suppressors useful but not a necessity.
Killing with a superseded gun should not display a kill cam to an enemy
I think it's interesting at least that some suppressors will increase the damage range on the guns. Making them more useful over longer distances.

Doesn't blast my ears and keeps me more situationally aware as well.
what was the point of striking thru "do" and saying "actually"
@@ShowMeYaMovez I'm used to being able to put hyphens for some emphasis rather than it being a strike out. I'll edit it.

A few things are missing:
1: does having a suppressor make it easier to hear others?
2: muzzle flash
3: how do the suppressors stack up to other attachments? Are their downsides too severe? Are the other muzzles any good (we saw this with the close range vanguard meta and the recoil booster)?
You didn’t even watch the video…
The only thing I was looking for in this video was “does a suppressor show up if someone has birdseye equips?” I guess I’ll have to figure that out myself.
Love that you showed us how useless the ghost perk is without a suppressor. Would have liked it if you would've put more data out about individual suppressors. Because I mostly use the harbinger d20 for its damage range and bullet velocity increases. When I was playing with snipers a lot I'd also use a suppressor that increased damage range and bullet velocity (idk the name).
I rock the Echoline on the Sp-X
3:38 Honestly I'm starting to hate the new perk system based on what you just mentioned. I find myself making 2 loadouts when lvling a gun 1 with whatever i want, then the other with a launcher. My internal count is if 2 UVAs go up and don't get shot down I switch to the launcher loadout. Not very fun but helps me die less and helps the team so whatever. EDIT: 7:30 oh you mention switching here my bad.
I’ve always had two classes for a mid game swap. It’s usually to go invisible when the big streaks are out tho.
@@grrinc Yeah tons of reasons to make 2 loadouts with the same primary gun in this game unfortunately....
I commend you for being that teammate, to shoot down launchers. You’re the real MVP!!!

A flash suppressor and a silencer aren't the same things. That's probably why he didn't mention it.
Real suppressors do add a lot of smoke in real life though. They conceal the flash, sure, but they're surprisingly smokey. The first time I fired a suppressed carbine in close quarters it was so smokey my eyes started burning.
Suppressors let off a hell of alot more gas aka "smoke" than if you don't have a Suppressor so it's realistic
Thank you for the info
Nice pfp
@@AngelusNielson a silencer isn't even a real term lmao, what you mean is a flash hider vs a suppressor
Suppressors are quite nice when using weapons with a ton of muzzle flash or if they improve bullet velocity/range. I do agree with your assessment on the perk system though Ace, the way stealth perks currently function seriously disincentivizes stealth and aggressive forms of it.
Why not use a flash hider instead? Unlike MW2019, this muzzle attachment type is now actually useful.
@@theDeathJoy silencers make the gun feel more comfortable but that’s my opinion
I always use silencers. Its great for being stealthy. You can compensate for the downsides by tweaking the ads speed and bullet range in the tuning.
One thing I'll add; I know they improved it a bit since the beta but still Suppressors will help cut down on the excessive muzzle flashes and smoke when firing some guns. If you use a full auto weapon and are engaging with Med/Long range targets you want all the visual clarity you can get.
I honestly love how the muzzle flash becomes non existent tho and being a little quieter is never a bad thing.
I prefer having a traditional mini map so it would alleviate camping since this game as many power positions and camping spots

Unfortunately Infinity Ward design their game around low skilled players… sorry I mean ‘Sentinels’

Then every runs suppressors and no difference is made
I think the whole reason the red dots were added in the first place, is because most people when the mechanic was introduced, were playing on tv speakers, not headphones, directional audio wasn’t really easy to use when it came to locating enemies, but now that most if not all gamers have crazy good headsets, they aren’t needed anymore
I agree except deaf old player...
Actually the compass does show distance. The diamond is smaller the further they are
And it's still useless
That's not really distance, if I ask someone where the nearest Gas Station is and they say "That way, far" that doesn't help much if i'm low on Gas, distance is exact (like if they said "It's 2 and a half Miles that way") or at the very least a close estimate (like if they said "It's around 2-3 Miles that way") so since there's no exact numbers, there's not a clear distance from where you are to the enemy. Even if there's an enemies teammate near them with a slightly bigger diamond on the Compass, you know that that enemy is closer, but still not by how much. The vagueness of the Compass is what makes it kind of redundant, as Ace said.
yeah, but would be cool they let people increase the size of the diamonds, i don't know why the made it so small in this game
Lol… “how far is gas station?”

Hey ace, idk if you've addressed this yet, but do you know what happens to your charged perks when you switch classes? As in if you picked a hyper agro class and rushed your ultimate perk, then switched to another class, would you get the other class' ult perk immediately or would you need to charge it again? I don't remember how it worked in the beta (or if they changed it if they did)
as the charge up time is bound to match time and ur kills/captures etc, it will most likely stay charged, except its buggy

Especially in smaller maps where gunfights are happening all over the place, I can't tell which sounds are enemy fire or friendly fire so having the extra Intel of the red diamonds helps a lot and I also think people don't use them nearly as much as they should
That's kinda a double issue. They need to make the compass a bit more visible AND people need to rely less on the mini-map

What about how they change the gun stats? Some seems to increase accuracy and help you control the recoil of your gun.
It seems like suppressors are useful for increasing range, or in some cases mitigating recoil
They also have the added benefit of counter intelligence in a lot of cases. They make it harder to pinpoint your location, you also don't show up on UAV Radar and compass radar.
And then there's the general satisfaction of using a suppressed weapon and feeling like a stealthy operator.
Some guns are just loud asf its cool to suppress them a lil bit lmao
What about the other "perks" and disadvantages of the suppressor, like ADS, Recoil control, etc?
Suppressors (some) on the shotguns increase damage range, would be interesting to see the data
What about straight up quieter gunshots like suppressors are intended for. Are suppressors better for avoiding being heard or are they still audible across any distance?
I was thinking the same with the forgrips? They're are so many of them, but are they worth using?
The pineapple one seems to be pretty useful on the Lach 762 and Taq 56
Same with lasers
Exactly!
Oooo thx!
Some suppressor accurately increase damage range in MWII, as they do in real life.
The usefulness comes from the recoil damage range and bullet velocity on top of tha little red dot disappearing as soon as I see a dot show up on the compass I go to it or look
Ive found some supressors that not only add range but overall damage as well. Supressors seem totally viable over certain breeches and comps

It's crazy how bad the perk system is, and how stubborn IW is being over it. It is definitely one of the bigger detractors of fun for this game for me and my friends.
From some suppressors you get additional range right? Where in previous games it would reduce the range. Thoughts?

@@iamcxd9782 this is very true. Irritates the crap out of me Ghost is an ultimate perk.
I really really wish iw would do a Dev conference explaining their reasonings and expectations for some of the mechanics they made its so baffling
holy shit I didn't know. I'm running a surpressor all the time because I thought I'm not visible lol
I like suppressors for the reduced muzzle flash, as well as the quieter firing sound. These are real world advantages, and they carry over here.
Yeah, I used them on all my guns in the beta and laughed as people complained they couldn't see anything when they shot.
to be honest I actually never even noticed the mini map not working as usual during mw2019, I just assumed everybody was using a suppressor. I feel like when I was younger on the old MW games etc I relied on the map a lot but nowadays I just use gamesense to figure out where people are; especially in this game where you can hear everything an enemy is doing
The fact that audio cues are more important now makes suppressors relevant.
But do suppressors enhance your damage range and bullet velocity for modes like ground war?
Hope we are gonna see an option to use the perk system from the previous games. The incentive to use the new system could be the ability to pick 4 perks vs the old system's 3.
Correct me if im wrong, but if i remember right the suppressors remove the damage direction indricator near your opponents crosshair when you hit them which makes it almost impossible to react to flanking
Why can’t they just make a playlist with traditional mini map 🤦♀️
because nobody would play any other game mode and it would prove IWs logic to be completely wrong and god forbid they get proven wrong
This would be the defining difference for me.
since the game is catered to campers, a camp chair would be more useful than a supressor at this point.
I’m not seeing these campers tbh.

Yup! 4 perks plus an easy to earn Dead Silence? Count me in!
I enjoy it as much as a colonoscopy.
Definitely noticed the tone of the sound changes at specific distances. >60m it's a short click. Once you get to 59m the sound adds a bit of an echo.
Does it gave extra range like the monolothic suppressor back then?
Thanks! I was so confused on if suppressors keep you off the mini map. This is exactly what I was looking for.
I use decoys… Also don’t the perks charge faster the more kills you get? Mine seems to charge up really fast when I have a good game.
Do you need a suppresor if you have the Ghost perk equipped? Would you still show up on a UAV minimap if you weren't using a suppresor?
Benefits of tuning a suppressor or tuning a different muzzle attachment?
The compass DOES Provide distance info; the marker is bigger if the sound is closer to you. Minor error in the video IMO?
You should have shown the difference in gunfire sound with a suppressor and no suppressor with NO line of sight. I’m curious if I’m shooting my suppressor inside a building, can you hear it outside the building?
