That would be useful. In reality there's really mot much to explain. Leave everything at default levels and everything should be as good as it can get without proper calibration equipment. Make sure there's no ringing around edges due to the sharpness being set too high. The best thing you can do to get closer to a calibrated image is to turn every "enhancement" (read: useless marketing) feature off.
For PC monitors it is still easy. Get a calibration tool datacolor spyder 5 that is mid to high end. use DisplayCal and change in-build display settings to change RGB values and more. On TVs nowadays it is harder because depending on HDR or only SDR you need to factor in the different colour spaces where I currently have no clue. A PC is needed of course and low end calibration devices need hours compared to better ones. Never use the in the box software and never use the windows colour profile function. I am no expert and never calibrated due to the fact OLED is the only true way to enjoy content and I am currently stuck with my high end PC CRT (also own a Sony PVM for retro gaming) until I probably invest into an LG CX 55. The previous monitor, an IPS 4k from LG got the glue or whatever separated from the Pixels and backlight. There is currently no reason to go PC monitor or low end TV to be good for at least 10 years imo with 4k. Good I got a refund.
All my family got theirs on vivid which comes set on as a default. Everyone appears to be heavily tanned or mixed ra.ce, plus extra sharpness and motion interpolation
Been waiting for a legitimate review of this projector. Thank you so much! I’ll be eagerly awaiting your review of the Samsung LSP9T! Which looks like the one to buy at moment.
Thank you for covering things in more detail than anyone else I'm aware of in this space. I wish someone was doing the same thing for the sound side of home cinema.
@@webinatic216 you have a point, but when you look into competitors offering same for half of 85ls price, it's hard to see any reason to take this one other than design and few gimmicks this unit provides.
@@GamersName True. The only redeeming quality is the color accuracy comparing to the competition. However the 24p movies has to work if they want to charge these kind of money.
Would you consider reviewing the optoma cinemax pro? On paper it looks to be the better projector between the p1, p2, and pro. I only ask because you have the most thorough reviews out of anybody on the platform.
Can you review the JVC NX5 ($6000 projector) as well? It was recommended by Wirecutter, and is supposed to have the best black levels and picture quality in the industry.
Thanks for such a comprehensive and detailed review! Which ultra short throw projector would you recommend? 4K Native | Excellent Black Levels | Low Lag for Gaming. Seems like nothing comes close to the Sony VPL-VZ1000ES, which is clearly exorbitantly priced for early adopters. And also has a manual lens cover! How inconvenient is that?
I`ve seen the projector in action in Germany. The image looks great. But, in scenes with high contrast, i noticed lots of rainbow effect. Maybe this helps somebody.
Thank you! As a gamer I am waiting for UHD projectors to start having HDMI 2.1 . Only then does it make sense to replace my 10yo FHD DLP projector. Please keep reviewing projectors like you did this one. Great and truly informative. Small request, if you ever find it relevant. I wonder if it is fairly possible to use projectors with 3D features to play PC games featuring NVIDIA 3D Vision** technology (even if it requires some trickery). I tried to find info about it but it was inconclusive. (Castlevania Lords of Shadow with the 3D vision mod is a masterpiece, 3 times more amazing) If you decide to investigate/answer, you can simply mention it at some point or (hopefully) even make a small video* about such topic. * (if you as a gamer become interested enough on the question/answer or if this gets enough upvotes to show common interest). ** (yes, i do realise NVidia no longer officially supports 3d vision. But the community keeps it alive with mods. You can see the list of games at helixmod. It includes fairly modern titles.)
Can the 3D Vision mod be applied to any PC game??? I love playing games in 3D. I played Sniper Elite 3 in 3D on my PS4, Batman Arkham Knight in 3D on my Xbox 360, and COD Black Ops 2 in 3D on the 360 as well.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M There is not a mod for every PC game, normally it requires the community to develop a mod for the game to have it with the proper layers depths configured. If you google "helix mod" you will find the website with the huge list of games already with a 3d fix mod. I think currently more than 900 games are "fixed". However, If the game is on DirectX 11, you can activate 3D mode, even without a mod. But it is not guaranteed it will be with perfect as it relies on the z buffer. For such, you should use "3D Fix Manager" to make it a breeze to download /manage the mods. It uses helix mod and other mods as well.

Wait wait waaaaait. Does this laser function as a global illumination source, just like an RGB lamp instead of a per-pixel directed laser beam? Even with laser as a source we rely on DLP or LCD to block the light? Why can’t they direct the laser beam directly to each pixel with adjusted power and make it work in a scanline type, like photon beam on old CRT TVs, only thousands time faster? And they could use a spinning mirror to direct the laser, no need for magnetrons or deflection coils. We could achieve 1000fps, absolute blacks, hdr with blinding levels of brightness. What’s stopping them to use the laser light source as a pixel-directed laser pointer?
