Actually, he's very much the man he was before. He's a socially conscious member of the 1960s generation who has retained his ideals and optimism who, like all great artists, hopes to spread to others through his art (THX 1138, Young Indy TV series, Star Wars prequels, Red Tails, etc.). He is a very good man, who is underrated both as a filmmaker and as a person.

He and his 1960s generation sang praises for the Viet Cong mass murderers and even tried to manipulate countless Americans into singing praises for those monsters by modeling the "heroes", the Rebel Alliance, after them. He's not a good man, quite the opposite, really. He's as evil as Hideo Kojima, especially after Peace Walker when he had Big Boss and Miller sing praises for Che Guevara and treated positively for it (and based on tweets by his secretary, he clearly liked Che). Heck, even said that the Soviet film industry was preferable to Hollywood, even though the Soviet film industry and "freedom of artistic expression" under the USSR can be best summed up with the opening scene from The Death of Stalin: ua-cam.com/video/uQnt9siVets/v-deo.html Namely, the fact that not even one of Stalin's favorite writers and his wife were spared from being sent to a Gulag at the very LEAST. Oh, and during his AMC interview with James Cameron, he not only reaffirmed his admission that the VC inspired the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars, but even implied that when he did so, he knew full well at the time that he was modelling them after a terrorist group.

It’s purposefully vague but if you combine this with his quotes about how he ‘likes democracy but not capitalist democracy’ and ‘...it’s corrupt...you’re never going to get a real meeting of the minds one what is best’ it’s pretty obvious he’s a socialist. He believes democracy is about an aggregate of societies interests coming together to decide what best for society. He believes democracy, by this definition- as a means of achieving a society that maximise well being, is impossible in a capitalist systems due to the disproportionate power of the bourgeois. The system serves them rather than society. Socialism removes that influence and thus a ‘common sense’ discussion about what best for society can now take place, free of bourgeois influence.

And if you think ownership is bad, you're fighting human nature. For example, we own our bodies. Nobody can tell us we must donate one of our eyes to a blind man so that he may see, because we OWN our bodies. And if we own our bodies, that means we also own what our bodies produce, and what we obtain through trading with others is also ours to have. The venus project completely eliminates individual incentive, its utopian and would only work for bumblebee's.

I don’t know where you get this idea that George is a socialist. The man never says anything pro socialist the best you can theorize is him criticizing marketing in Hollywood but that’s still a huge if. He just doesn’t like the rich being able to effect Government. He doesn’t say they’re shouldn’t be any rich people around but he does criticize greed. So he’s a Liberal that wants the wealthy separate from Government. Seems like your just taking a huge leap here. Then, go beyond this: Left against right; communism against capitalism; good against evil; passive against aggressive; rich man against poor man; owner against worker; looser against winner... and so on... At the end, there's only a message that remains more than any word that they say, the one given by the image: confrontation, division... And that's just what this video generates inside its audience.

Star Wars isn’t political. It has some general political themes to it but Star Wars is much deeper. It’s about morality, fantasy, adventure, philosophy, growth, and most importantly selflessness over selfishness. It’s also a space opera about family. If you really want to know what Star Wars is listen to one of George’s mentors ,Joseph Campbell.
"Star Wars deals with the essential
problem: Is the machine going to
control humanity, or is the machine
going to serve humanity? Darth Vader
is a man taken over by a machine, he

Yeah, but he didn't explain how he plans to do that. By giving money from the rich and not-so-rich to the poor and then keeping them unmotivated and poor, or by teaching them about economy, financials, free markets, work and capitalism? I guess the second option since he's one of the richest men alive...

@@shizuwolf Every person is a different world, so there are just so many motivations, but... If you punish productive people by stealing their money or assets and you give some of it to less productive people... Yeah, won't do any good at all.
Just look at Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba, Brazil, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Russia... Recent history (as in the last century, if not more) is full of very good examples. Also Spain-we are unfortunately going by the same path... Believe me, it's not enjoyable at all.
Like I said, you motivate people by teaching them good and objective and useful things and then letting them develop their dreams, projects and abilities. Not keeping them ignorant and then also banning them from doing almost anything.
      Best regards.

I respect Lucas and I love to hear his opinion about many subjects but in this case he talks in a way that's too abstract and naive. He seems to describe some form of socialism but calls it "common sense" instead, whatever that means. Every ideology, even the most radical ones, seek "the best possible good" as they understand it but that's not enough. In politics its not that important what you seek but how you seek it.

"Every ideology, even the most radical ones, seek "the best possible good" as they understand it but that's not enough." Well, not every ideology. The Marquis de Sade if anything desired the worst possible evil, as can be covered in Operation Parricide. Marx also was much of the same, even up and out rejecting moral codes to such an extent that he ordered anyone who even DARED try to use morals for socialism to be expelled from his party. And Lenin, aside from explicitly stating that the best revolutionary is youth devoid of morals, outright stated that they needed to get rid of any law and order whatsoever and make it as lawless and horrific as possible, rivaling even Palpatine in sheer depravity (don't believe me? Look up Leninthink by Gary Saul Morson).

A free society will always produce hierarchies and unequal outcomes. It's philosophy or civics 101. The same way not everyone can be as athletic as Michael Jordan, not everyone is as intelligent and articulate as a Christopher Hitchens or Jordan Peterson type character. We're all equal in our rights (ideally) but not equal in competence. If an American say craves wealth but lacks a good IQ or discipline, ambition etc. his best bet is to move to a poorer nation. People conveniently forget to realize making $35,000 USD puts you in the 1% globally...
