      @@bjornnyland He has a good point or you could do top 5 and then where this sits. For example, if it is rank 50th you would show top 5 ev car values then a row with ... ... ... for values and then the car you are ranking values. Of course you could go top 10, top 20 even. Something like that. It would be pretty helpful to compare the car against ranking leaders.

    Thank you very much for doing this test. The 2017-2019 e-golf is my dream car currently, so it's nice to know exactly what its limitations are. I would definitely still get one if I was in a financial place to do so, lol

      The e-Golf is immensely more nicer to drive and more fun (except for highish-speed or low-traction drag races from the stop lights :D) than my other car (a 2017 VW Tiguan 2.0 TSI 4M DSG) in the city and for short commutes, but unfortunately this is where it all stops. Due to the short range and the almost non-existent EV public charging infrastructure in Romania, long-distance driving is simply not feasible in this car.
      If it had double the range coupled with faster charging, ~70hp extra and AWD, I would sell the Tiguan in a heartbeat and never look back. But as it stands today, the e-Golf is just a huge black hole in our family's budget. Or it makes the Tiguan one since the Tiguan took the back seat, can't figure out which is it :D

    Hi Bjorn. Love your work!
    Quick question, could you test the e-Golf’s auto steer? Last time you said it only has ping pong auto steer but that’s not the case. It has two modes. The second keeps it in the middle of the lane. It’s an option so your test cars might not have it.
    Also, the green part of the screen that shows the regen level when driving shows the proportion of charge it can accept when charging. When it’s all the way you can charge at 40kW. When it rapid gates it’s halfway so about 20kW.

      If you use too much music we can't hear how a car sounds on a particular road at a particular speed. It is not only nice to compare how much decibels are produced but also "how" the sound spectre is. As an example: I see you tested e-Gold with two types of tyres. It would be nice to hear the difference between the tires. The music is nice but it can take away information from the viewer. Please don't take this as criticism, I really appreciate your work.

    I have tested an e golf last week for 3 days. What I did not like is the integration of the electric drive unit in the otherwise more or less untouched diesel golf chassis. Especially the overassisted granny brakes generate a somewhat harsh transition between regen and actual mechanical braking. It takes some getting used to. Ioniq feels way more like a complete ev build than the golf even though it has a fossil brother. Interieur is nice in the Golf, i also missed charging infos.

    • @JPetr94
      @JPetr94 5 років тому +2

      With gear lever that manages regen modes (which is unique in eGolf among EVs), there's no need to use mechanical brakes at all, except complete stop and in case of emergency.

    • @DaRockCRX
      @DaRockCRX 5 років тому

      @@JPetr94 The concept of different regen modes set by stick or "shift paddles" is nothing special. I know that. Still, the mechanical brake is overassisted by the booster like in every other VAG car. The brake should have a more linear feel to integrate better with regen. All this modern overassisted brakes are crap imho. Only good for grannies driving to the shopping mall.

    Hi bjorn, i have a lot of question about ev, can you pls help me? First of all, when you use regen do the brake lights turn on? If I start the car and immediatly hammer it could I ruin the motor like in a ICE? Could i have some problems if I charge only with shucko? Of course now i don't remember all my question but this is a good point of start lol
    ps: love your videos

    • @yodagerhard8389
      @yodagerhard8389 5 років тому +3

      Simone Ricci , till Björn can answer, i try it.
      Yes if regen on a stronger level, braking lights are on, different from manufacturers
      Start and hammer is not so bad, as on ice cars, but
      If you like your car, i wouldn't do so in very cold winter times.
      Why? There are also moving parts, and there could be also oil in the one gear box
      There is no problem on the emotor, as on ice cars.
      And the time is very short your ecar is ready for hammering.
      In summer time is no issue, start and hammering is ok.

      @@yodagerhard8389 thanks a lot and what do you think about only shucko? Or just very slow charging speed, I think shucko is 3,7kw, could it be a problem for the battery?

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  5 років тому +3

      Schuko is not designed for continous 3.7 kW load (16 A). It can overheat and cause fire. You should charge at max 10 A (2.3 kW) on Schuko.

    • @yodagerhard8389
      @yodagerhard8389 5 років тому

      Batteries like to charge slower. But Schuko is not perfect. Maybe you have a CEE 16 A oder CEE 32 A socket. Then you could use a mobile wallbox like NRGKick, Go-eCharger or Juice Booster. This have also good DC FI Security built in. NRGKick and go-eCharger also have an app.
      But there are also a lot of wallboxes, also the Tesla Wall Connector, can be used for every Typ 2 eCar.
      If no CEE 16A or CEE 32A is there, then
      the easiest way is to change the Schuko with a Blue CEE socket (also camping socket named, same wires as schuko, 3-pole) and use such a mobile wallbox with the camping adapter.
      Or if you installed a blue CEE 16A socket (instead of the Schuko socket, you can use
      your SchukoCharger (delivered with the eCar) and a Schuko to CEE Blue Socket adapter :)
      This last way: few costs, but you are more secure as with a Schuko socket.

    • @valtersvasilis
      @valtersvasilis 5 років тому

      Shucko may cut it for this small battery sizes. Yes, it doesn't harm motor if you hammer it cold, but it may degrade battery a little bit faster.

    We need a proper wintertest on all of the cars. at least -10 (wich is still not alot in norway even in your area Bjørn) aaand...in highway speeds. Nobody does 90 in the highway. At least 105+ or so. I have been driving a Zoe since september at work and i run 100KM highway driving everyday + 50KM inside Oslo everyday. I also drive it like a gasoline car. Heater at 24 degrees and no eco mode. Incredibly enough the lowest range i get on it after my driving style even in -15 or lower is still 170-180KM.
