Pretty good points, if you frequently have rear passengers. I’ll take the loud camera motor over the constantly dirty camera and also having to replace cameras after a few years exposed to the elements.
I have the 2018 too, and my biggest complaints are no active battery temp control, and only offering the 35 KWH battery when Krissel built a 50 KWH one a few years ago

  • @ivansemchuk

Really good points. I am the owner of 15th SEL and a bit frustrated they did not come to the heated steering wheel and rear passenger heaters. However, you can add those as options in custom car shops.

BTW, did you figure out a way to limit the charge? Supposed to charge to 80%ish normally, but only way I can figure out how to force the car not to totally top off (and possibly damage longevity on the battery) is to set timers...unless the car is set to automatically avoid topping off? Done some googling, but haven't locked this down.

    • @DrivenCompanion

I haven't tried this or really thought about the issue with topping off. I guess when we are close to full charge we shouldn't plug in - we are about half and half on this now.

@@DrivenCompanion I think you have to set the schedules. I understand it now, but it isn't very intuitive. I've had 164 miles range before, so I guess VW is feeling the need to be extra honest with their quoted 125. I now have it set with departure times, it also means the battery is warm and more efficient right when I head out.

I think it's a fantastic Legacy EV and a great first EV for transitional people who don't need a lot of range and just charge at home after their commute. I do agree and with the wheels and tires looked like the simulation version and the only other comment I have is when you engage Reverse for back up camera, it stays on for about 10 seconds even after you put it back to park or drive. Also incredible bargain of the century right now for a used EV. New $30-$35,000 I picked up a 2016 for $10,500 incredible deal

Picky, picky, picky! (Except for # 5 which I agree with.) What about the manual seat adjustments (forward and back)? Also does your E-Golf have cruise control? My 2016 SE model does not. This car has so many advanced features, that I was disappointed that my car did not have those two features. On retrospect, I guess since this is essentially a city-car, maybe there is not much need for cruise control. And someone could argue that electric seats use electricity (!), but it is only for a short time, usually just 1 time when you get into the vehicle, unless you are the only driver, then you probably rarely would use the power seat adjustment, and the motors just add (a little) extra weight.

    • @erebostd

Am I alone in not liking over-sized modern wheels. I have "standard" wheels on my SUV and as a result I never curb them. Was lent a trendy SUV with big wheels when I was having my car serviced and they had already been curbed in spite of it being a new car.

Oversize wheels with super-thin tires look stupid because they are stupid, functionally. Lower range, more expensive to buy, more expensive to mount, way more susceptible to damage. Just hitting a pothole could cost you $hundreds. Maybe marginally better handling but seems their real purpose is to show off that you can afford them.
