Eating in China requires being very brave, a weak gag reflex, poor eyesight, a willful lack of inquisitiveness, and easy access to both antibiotics and Ipecac syrup.
Antibiotics won't solve the issue, it will make it worse. Consuming large amounts of harsh preservatives will destroy the probiotics of the gut. Most of the food in China is soaked in things that kill mold, mildew, and bacteria.. but it will also destroy your gut health. I'm just adding this on top of the other things already mentioned.
@@goldensloth7these fake/recycled food products are found in both high end restaurants and gourmet food distributors as well- it's just less common. literally nothing is safe- it's always a roll of the dice on your health when you eat in China.
My heart seriously goes out to all the families dealing with this. People are already so stressed here in America about dangerous stuff being in our food, but could you imagine if things were this out of control? Imagine being a parent unable to even buy meat to cook with because everything is fake. Even your spices are fake. Nothing is safe.
Chinese food outside China is made with basically all domestic ingredients from the country the restaurant is in. Some of the sauces might be made in China, but in Europe and North America restaurants don't generally do this kind of thing. The penalties are too high when they get caught. so unless you're in Asia, you can confidently eat Chinese food. Notice if lots of other Asians are going there: would they want to eat slop?
Well if you live in MN we have the health dept check on resturant and bars all the time. But even in the USA some of our food is ban in Europe because some of the die and preservatives are cancer forming if used in high doses. For example I was looking at a Quaker box of oatmeal sold in Europe and it has about 10 ingredients in it and then the same ingredients of Quaker Oatmeal sold in the USA has about 50 ingredients because instead of using dry fruit we use flavoring and preservatives. I do not think someone is going to die drinking cherry cool-aid once in a great while. But doing it every day, is not smart because we know red dye can cause Cancer. But we do think like put wax on apples and things like that. Which is why food at the farmer market does not look perfect like what you get in the stores. The other problem is China is they have ruin environments and basically have no Wildlife including Birds ( which helps control insect) so the only way to deal with insect is to except use tons of insecticides. The other problem is that the government doesn't have any oversight on any of this and so they basically allowed this to happen. For the most part the government does not care how much the Chinese people hurt each other. In fact they want that mistrust. If no one get along then they cannot bond and fight to go after the real problem which is the CCP and there horrible dictator. For example they have cameras everywhere but if your child gets kidnapped, the police don't do a squat about it. But you stand there with a blank piece of white paper and they'll find you no matter where you are and arrest you in the middle of night to never be seen again. The problem is most American see the best of China and think it is this great place. Well China hide all there bad area. People would think the USA was great also if we just showed Yellowstone national park instead of Kensington avenue. But our country we talked about our problems and in China they just cover them up and never get never deal with them. If we do not talk about, it is not a problem according to the CCP. Which is why there country is falling apart. China had a period of time to reverse policy that would have kept many western companies there. But American business are tired of spending money on reseach and doing all the thing to develope a product and then a Chinese company who is suppose to just make it, instead sell the tech so they can make knock off your product basically ensure you lose the Chinese market which is the main reason you invested there.

12:02 Using lye in food is hardly unheard of, it's widely used in making pretzels, bagels and noodles, but also used to cure many other foods. Also it's not carcinogenic... It may cause chemical burns, as any heavily alkaline solution, but heat treatment deactivates and destroys it, making it safe to consume.

Poppy seeds are used in cooking all over the world, you then said "shells" perhaps they were putting pods in? Poppy seed bagels, poppy seed muffins and poppy seeds on bread are all popular in the US.
Once the poppy seeds are heated to a certain temperature in liquid, they will release opioids, creating a euphoric effect in the consumer. They’re harmless when they’re not heated to that temperature in liquid and used in small quantities in and on salad dressing, bagels and muffins. Also, many if not most of the poppy seeds found in grocery stores and restaurant supply stores in the US have been processed to reduce the amount of active opioids they have available to release. Disclaimer: Please, no one ask what temperature or quantity of seeds is required to achieve a euphoric effect. It is far too dangerous to try.
Poppy seeds have to be harvested in a specific way by food companies to be safe to eat, which means they have to be “washed”. Unwashed poppy seeds contain higher opioid contents of morphine and codeine and can definitely get you high when boiled into a tea. I’m guessing the Chinese restaurant owners bought unwashed seeds.
It's beyond appalling! I intend to never eat Chinese food again. And, since it happening there, you know American food is going through the same disgusting shortcuts.

I will point out that they presumably mean they are using industrial grade lye, which is indeed toxic. There is such a thing as food grade lye and it is a key part of several kinds of food processes (in the west, it's used to boil pretzels and nixtamalize corn to turn it into hominy, In parts of China it's used to make noodles yellow for things like Hong Kong Style Steamed Lo Mein). That's perfectly safe, provided you WASH IT OFF after you are done (every now and again, I find the noodles in my steamed Lo Mein taste soapy, which tends to indicate they didn't wash them off all the way.)
Years ago, I wondered how I could buy a big bowl of delicious wonton soup so cheaply just 2-3 blocks from Nanjing Road and The Bund in Shanghai. I no longer want to know.
Confused me as well. Poppy seeds are very common in baking. Sure eating too much will have side effects but you have to really be shoveling it, since the used quantity in foods is usually low.
Even in my country, it's not so much fake food, unless you go to chinese grocers, but everything is trash anyway, get a 1kg bag of onions from a supermarket, 1 or 2 of them will be rotten in the center, every time, a kilo is 5 to 6 onions, same with potatoes, always full of eyes, bruised throughout, green skin, just fruit and vegetables in general, there's always something wrong with it. 30 years ago it wasn't like that, we had high quality food in my country, now everything that's grown here is exported, or is stored for so long it's off before you even buy it, or it's garbage being imported because it's cheap for the supermarkets.

Hello, I would like to correct an incorrect information in the video. We consume poppy seeds in Turkiye and they are not poisonous. It is produced by scratching the opium poppy husk.

Unwashed poppy seeds contain higher opioid contents of morphine and codeine and can definitely get you high when boiled into a tea. I’m guessing the Chinese restaurant owners bought unwashed seeds.
@@ericdee438 No, poppy seeds are removed from the dried poppy bowl and consumed directly. If the poppy bowl is scratched while it is wet, it will secrete gum containing opium. We have a city called Afyon (Opium) in Turkiye, yes its name is Afyon (Opium), and the poppies produced here are either produced for their seeds or to obtain opium gum (of course, the state controls it very tightly, the opium produced here is used in pharmaceutical factories.).
Poppy seeds are common here in Europe, sometimes put on top of bread dough or bagels before baking (local name translates as 'moonseed bread'), and you can put them in other things as a spice. There is near zero active opiates in them; you'd need to eat bags of it for a meaningful dose and you'd be puking from the taste and dehydration way before that. The other stuff like the chemicals are really bad but let's not grasp at panicked misinformation.
that depend on what type of seed However, harvesting for poppy seeds of superior quality is in conflict with harvesting for opium as poppy seeds should be harvested when they are ripe, after the seed pod has dried. Traditionally, opium is harvested while the seed pods are green and the seeds have just begun to grow and their latex is abundant from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poppy_seed
They said "shells" in the end. I think they were putting waste pods in it or something. There was a ferry captain where I live that failed a drug test b/c of his daily poppy seed muffin (supposedly 😂)

I was thinking how US chicken, beef and pork farmers have better quality control than China.... So now, why not export US meats to China as high quality safe meats and charge them a lot of money?
More like abusing harmful chemical in human food is such a foolish and dangerous path that most people apart from the ones in China don't dare to take so balatantly with the social mindset of "if you can cheat then cheat"
No, you cannot get addicted to poppy seeds in hotpot. While poppy seeds come from the same plant as opium, the amount of opium alkaloids present in them is extremely low. It's so low that it's virtually impossible to experience any kind of high or addictive effects from consuming poppy seeds. The main concern with poppy seeds is sometimes related to false positives on drug tests. This is because trace amounts of opium alkaloids can be detected in urine after consuming poppy seeds. However, this doesn't mean you're high or addicted.

Eating in China requires being very brave, a weak gag reflex, poor eyesight, a willful lack of inquisitiveness, and easy access to both antibiotics and Ipecac syrup.
or just a reasonable amount of money
Antibiotics won't solve the issue, it will make it worse.
Consuming large amounts of harsh preservatives will destroy the probiotics of the gut. Most of the food in China is soaked in things that kill mold, mildew, and bacteria.. but it will also destroy your gut health.

I like eating at different Chinese cuisine, but now no more - too risky.
They inport many things from China specially dogs and cats thingi

You are wise 😊

12:02 Using lye in food is hardly unheard of, it's widely used in making pretzels, bagels and noodles, but also used to cure many other foods.
Also it's not carcinogenic... It may cause chemical burns, as any heavily alkaline solution, but heat treatment deactivates and destroys it, making it safe to consume.

Correct. Overconsumption of these foods may make you feel a bit nauseous, which is the best sign to stop and you will be fine. It's not lethal and not any more unhealthy than sugar.
Exactly! But anything consumed in excess is bad.
My question 🙋🏾♂️ is… those people COOKING this fake food or using “gutter oil”…would THEY eat their own food?
Good question 🤔
In china yes... People also eat feces or poop soup in the Philippines as well look it up.
They probably eat at a restaurant across the street who does the same thing
They never eat what they made
They are just selling toxic food to other chinese or other restaurants
Another day, another counterfeit food
I wondering how much food products sold to philippines from china are fake. We have a lot of chinese sellers/ products that shipped from china on our online shopping apps
Poppy seeds are used in cooking all over the world, you then said "shells" perhaps they were putting pods in? Poppy seed bagels, poppy seed muffins and poppy seeds on bread are all popular in the US.
Woman with a bakery was arrested for importing poppy seeds. The name still has its narcotic reputation.
Unwashed seeds.
I thought the seeds mentioned on this video were opium poppy seeds. 🤔
The re-used ribs are what make me cringe...

My cousin Wang Suk Kok is a China official. He is happy to allow anything in food as long as the company pays contribution to him.

Wait, are they using actual opium or just poppy seeds?
Any time I think about my crappy upbringing I can at least be thankful I didn't have the same crappy family in China. It would've been so much worse.
Lmfao imagine being neglected in China, that be insane

Those poor farmers touching formalin with their bare hands😢😢😢😢
Poppy seeds are common here in Europe, sometimes put on top of bread dough or bagels before baking (local name translates as 'moonseed bread'), and you can put them in other things as a spice. There is near zero active opiates in them; you'd need to eat bags of it for a meaningful dose and you'd be puking from the taste and dehydration way before that.
The other stuff like the chemicals are really bad but let's not grasp at panicked misinformation.
that depend on what type of seed
However, harvesting for poppy seeds of superior quality is in conflict with harvesting for opium as poppy seeds should be harvested when they are ripe, after the seed pod has dried. Traditionally, opium is harvested while the seed pods are green and the seeds have just begun to grow and their latex is abundant
from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poppy_seed
They said "shells" in the end. I think they were putting waste pods in it or something. There was a ferry captain where I live that failed a drug test b/c of his daily poppy seed muffin (supposedly 😂)

Denisovans.
You can't blame it on that. Surrounding countries don't have these problems.
