Thanks again for this great tip … it worked really well. AND ..you end up with a very consistent product. I found the fresh picked chaga was much easier to chop and much easier to grind versus chaga that had been around for a while and dried out. Thanks again
Thank you for sharing this! I have an older antique meat grinder and was about to sell/donate it. And also wondering how to grind my chaga without breaking my little coffee grinder. This is perfect! What a great idea :)
You are welcome. Now I put my piece of chaga into an old pair of pants leg, tie off one end & start breaking it up with a 3 pound hammer before I put it through the grinder, makes smaller pieces. Chris
Great idea until i realized howmany steel shavings are now in your chaga. Meat grinders aren't designed to run hard stuff like chaga and outs it under a lot of tension creating friction and steel into your chaga...
Thanks for taking the time to vid this process! Accidentally I came across Chaga and within 30 minutes I understand something I see in the woods often on the Paper Birch. I wonder what the tea is like so that will be my next project. Can you tell me how long you have done this, used the Chaga, does it work for you medicinally? In the forrest there are hidden foods and tools so discovering them is exciting. A bee tree in the cavity of a tree is such a cool find when hiking in the woods and seeing honeybees zooming in and out!
I have been drinking it in my coffee for about 5 years now. I have very seldom ever been sick in my life (not even a cold) that I can't say honestly if it's been any good for me or not. But I'm still alive so it don't appear that it has hurt me any. Chris
@@chriskathy9865 Thanks so much for the prompt reply. Will be grinding some up today for a dear friend with cancer. Greatly appreciate and enjoy your videos.
Funny how I wondered about that as I am sitting in a room with a little meat grinfer the same size. I guess I will was it up and grind my chaga. I don't find it has much flavor.
I was just about to let go of our grandparents' meat grinder. Now I can grind up the chunk of chaga I've had. Thanks!!

Glad it worked out for ya, Chris
Hi Chris and Kathy, I just wanted to say thank you for your time and knowledge. Keep on keeping on.
Thanks Scott, I hope this helps you out if you use chaga. And thanks for watching. Chris

Great advice I broke my coffee grinder . I no longer drink coffee as it was raising my blood pressure. I replaced it with Chaga tea.

Great idea!! My mom had one of those meat grinders when I was a kid!
Awesome idea!! Do you use the grinder with only the grind core in it..i.e. with the plate with holes removed? Thanks again!
I use it with the plate in it. Thanks for watching. Chris
