Watchmaking is a unique combination of engineering and artistry, and this CIGA Design Blue Planet is the perfect example of watchmaking magic. I've seen this Blue Planet watch pop up in other reviews, but I was never really drawn to it.
Oh boy, nothing prepared me for what I felt when I held this watch and saw that dial in the flesh for the first time. This watch has that 'Wow factor', and I can see why it won the GPHG Watch Challenge Prize in 2021 among more established brands. It's a reminder that it's about time everyone starts taking Chinese watches seriously.

Correction: The L2L is actually 31mm. The strap attaches at the bottom of the watch as seen at 4:40

Thank you! It’s definitely not a watch for everyone (me included), but I can’t help but appreciate what they’ve managed to pull off here.
This is an amazing piece, but the ghost date is crazy to me, especially for the price and the amount of thought that has otherwise gone into the design. For me, any watch featuring one falls short of its potential.
