I just got a used honda civic 2016 lx. How often do brakes needs to be checked like once a year at least? Or every 15000 miles? I don't see much info on the manual
Depends on your driving I usually get about 60000 out of a set with highway and rural driving but if your not sure I would do every six months for a check till you see where your at. Also try to get a good pad. You get what you pay for.
I never greased them, some say to but when I am getting 70,000 plus on pads. It's an unnecessary step not sure if that is the 99th percent I didn't do but thanks for the comment
He is right New grease is needed on slider pins and top of brake pads Without greasd the pads will not move back and forth properly even with the paf spreader springs in place . The pads will wear out uneven and excessive heat from pads riding on rotors causing excessive heat and will warp rotors . Funny how you greased the pads and not other important areas
Not to mention clean the inside of the caliper, take the older clips out clean underneath and put the new ones on.. he put so much grease where it doesn’t need to be and ones you get dust and rock in there it will be a mess
I definitely don’t like videos very often; but this one yes. Love your humor 😂
Lmao " we keep the gloves next to the tampons" 😂😂
you def know what your doing great video A+++
Great explanation 👌. Question where did you get your brakes pads?
Why all the grease on the outside of outer pad?
Makes ot so there is no squealing they also sell brake grease at auto zone, and some pads come with it as well, obviously just back of pads
@@toddpac1 ok, there is almost no contact point on that pad though, the inside yes with the piston.
Did yall ever put it in maintenance mode? I'm having trouble getting it into that
Nice job. Saving my money thanks.
is this civic without the electronic parking brake or with?
With and that only applies to the rear ones
Thanks bro this was very helpful
Is it the same process with a civic hatchbsck
Yep that's what I have exact same

Thank you very much for sharing this video.😊
You did like 1/100th of the job! Need to grease those sliders or else you’re gonna be doing this again a lot sooner with uneven pad wear

No new brake hardware ? No greasing of caliper slide pins ?
The pads never came with new clips damn honda
Yeah ! No greasing on the caliper slide pins …🥴🥴🥴
@@toddpac1shouldve came with clips. Mine came with clips and grease
Great video
Thank you!
great video
Don’t you have to machine the rotors??
No I did not
Do you have to bleed the breaks?
No it's a closed system, only if you were replacing your calipers
You should Never grease the back of a pad like, that just the slides. Nothing wrong with wearing gloves either..
30 years never had a single problem or squeal. I also save the gloves for my kids when they finger paint thanks for comment
I've always greased the back. Even some pads I'd buy came with a little grease pack that recommended you greased the back as well.
We don’t wear gloves….. 😂😂😂
Yeah i hate the way honda uses those stupid springs.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Very poor light quality
Great video
