    Thank you for the side-by-side comparison. Finding info on thread and fabric that isn’t opinion or preference-based is difficult. I like understanding the material science behind a material, whether it is metal, wood or fabric, to make informed decisions.

    Decobob is a real favorite of mine. I use it _exclusively_ now to piece and the light gray is my choice. Because it is so fine, it does not even show through black! (Don't use on projects that with microwave or high heat applications). I extol its virtues as it is strong, sews beautifully (though may need some tension adjustments), and is lint free. I even use it for quilting top and bottom, but if not the top, the bottom.Because it is 80wt, complex-pieced blocks, such as pinwheels, LeMoyne Stars and other blocks with a confluence of seams, have reduced bulk. NO need for tailor's clap and other work arounds...just try this thread. (Although, I love the teflon fiberglass mats which I use as pressing sheets).
