I'm taking my pricey cotton spindles back for polyester, and I'll keep only a few spindles of basic colors in cotton if ever needed.
Nice video. Thanks for this info. Been sewing 54 years and have made all sorts of clothes, crafts, totes…now quilts. Self taught, these last 12 years I’ve made mostly small kitchen projects and have been using cotton batting & thread. This video was very informative as it goes to the particulars of polyester thread which I’ll probably go back to as I begin with actual quilts. I also have an embroidery machine which I haven’t used too often…but I’ll keep all your info in mind as I purchase thread for those projects. Thank you take care and happy sewing!!
Thank you for the iron temperature update. I melted a hole in a pair of polyester pants that I had just made a bazillion years ago and so have been extra careful ever since.
I quilted a quilt with So Fine polyester thread several years ago. The quilt has been machine washed and dried numerous times. With the exception of a few fabrics that faded slightly, this quilt is in excellent condition. So Fine thread is so thin that the quilting is almost invisible. My advice: educate yourself on the products that you use, and quilt with an open mind! Besides, nobody will know that you used a polyester thread unless you tell them.......

Love this video! Your thread education is second to none!!! I have purchased Superior Threads for many years....can't remember when I started....maybe back in 2010?? Anyway, love your Masterpiece and SoFine for piecing my quilts and making clothing. Love your Magnifico and Fantastico for Free Motion Quilting and Decorative stitches. And I've recently tried your Bottom Line threads....wow! Should have tried this line a L O N G time ago!!! I've also used your MicroThread and I like its "invisibility" feature. Thank you, Superior Threads, for such quality thread lines. I recommend your threads to other quilt friends and remind them they get what they pay for....if you buy no-name cheap brands, you're not doing yourself any favors. Too many good features of Superior Thread lines and it's worth the money.

Great, great video!!! Thank you Superior Threads! I have quite a collection of your various products (Masterpiece, SoFine, Bottom Line (just discovered the joys of Bottom Line), Magnifico and Fantastico. These are my favorites.
Really informative video- thank you.!😊 I have always pieced with Masterpiece or Aurifil threads until recently, when I tried piecing with Sew Fine and I have to say, I was very happy with the results. Apart from seeming to be finer, therefore flatter seams, I also didn’t have to clean so much fluff out of the machine. I’m about to FPP with batiks and think the Sew Fine would be an excellent choice for this due to the fabric build up in the very tiny pieces.

Thank you for the explanation between cotton vs. polyester threads. You mentioned poly comes in numerous weights. Does it come in 60 wt.? Do you have a cotton in 60 wt?

Hi @maureenmatthews2064 - I'd recommend that you look at a Bonded Polyester thread for cushions that will stay outside. Superior Threads offers some (right now it looks like it is all on clearance), and so do places that specialize in outdoor sewing, like SailRite. Hope this helps you find what you need! :-)
