I heard that Peg was waiting to hear back about a part for a film she was up for. She waited for a couple of days, grew impatient, then convinced herself that she was not going to be called to come in and work. After she died, the phone call came. Sad story.

I heard that it was a playhouse that reached out to her not long after she died. In a way, I see her as a role model for people who are contemplating suicide. That is to say that had she held on for a few more days, she would have been able to catch a break for her career (and life). Just hang in there...things are bound to change for the better if you'll just be a little more patient.

In 1927 Penny Entwistle married actor Robert Keith, father of actor Brian Keith. She was granted a divorce in May 1929 due to charges of cruelty and also because her husband did not tell her he had been married before and was father of six-year-old Brian Keith. UA-camr " Daze with Jordan the Lion" did this story a couple of years ago. He did the story on location where he also show her uncle's house where she was residing before she walked up to the Hollywoodland sign.

Another thing too, and this is something that was almost NEVER brought up back then -- a lot of young would be starlets were sexually exploited by the "casting couch" system. You could have some big shot producer, agent or actor being beyond reproach, and the "poor farm girl from Iowa" being destroyed if she spoke out. Part of me suspects this may have been one of the scenarios that led up to Peg's lonely and sad death.

Peg would have been better off staying in NY on Broadway. So sad. Another Hollywood story. In 1927 she did marry a man who was already a father to the late actor Brian Keith. She divorced him in 1929. Her part in 13 women after editing was just a few lines. The original cut had many more lines and probably would have given her better exposure. I have seen this movie, her presence in the film was short lived.

I’ve heard stories where people have seen her and that she still haunts the Hollywood sign when she died it used to by Hollywood land sign but it was changed to Hollywood. I’ve always wanted to go to California to look around at things like this and cemeteries and other reasons it’s very interesting I’ve also heard the dark story behind Hollywood. Sad thing I heard was she didn’t die right away she broke her pelvic bone and was still alive for a few days before someone found her. The uncle was trying to find her. I can’t only imagine the news it’s heartbreaking she said she would be back. She never came back. I can’t imagine the pain he felt and what she was going through too. 10 years after her dad died. Her uncle really went through it. Her ghost they said where’s a white dress. I’m not sure what she wore when she jumped but it was on celebrity ghost stories and other things

I saw your Flo Jo & Ben Orr episodes, both excellent. Your kind and thought provoking commentary is much appreciated. I'm sure "Peg" appreciates it. Same with Flo Jo & Ben Orr to name a few others.

Lamont: so good told. Especially the thing with the bad brain. And that's right. If you have such a brain, you can't get over it by your self. Thanks for sharing 👍

I have followed Peg's story for some years now, and she did in fact have great tragedies connected to her life. She, for a time was also the stepmom of the late actor Brian Keith, who starred in the"Family Affair" series. Mr. Keith would sadly, die by his own hand also.
All so very sad. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏾💯

Parts of this narrative is incorrect, the Hollywoodland sign was to promote a housing development, also you neglected to mention that Peg Entwistle was the “aunt/stepmother”of well known actor Brain Keith (it seems her husband (Robert Keith) actor didn’t tell her he had a child “Brian” by his first wife)Brian also took his life in his later years. After Peg jumped off the HollywoodLand sign they fenced off that area to stop others from doing the same. There are other facts too numerous to mention that you either got wrong or neglected to add.

Yes!!!! Right up the street from where I grew up. I've suggested this a few times. There's a few interesting stories in this graveyard. This is such a great channel. Lamont is making some serious moves!

Reminds me of Lana del Rey’s song/video for “lust for life”. She sings “I stand on the H of the Hollywood sign”…and later she slides off the sign. I wonder if there is some link there.

It's a shame that a beautiful young woman had to go to that extent. It's a pity that a lot of people in the era didn't realise that the great depression will eventually end, but I suppose once you lose everything you've got nothing. You start making rash decisions that you normally wouldn't. Another great content Lamont always look forward to watching your videos.

Cool video! I did a video on her a few months back. It’s on my channel. I know everyone has their version of how they tell the story, if you’d like to check out my version head over to my channel. There’s some other details you missed about the night she jumped and what happened after.

Yo lamont the next time you’re in houston, there’s a guy by the name of Charles Fondow (January 20, 1947 - March 17, 2011) who built this famous house out here in 3rd Ward and kept building it for 31 yrs until he passed. He believed that he didn’t want to live in a house that was finished so he kept on building it and when he passed, he wasn’t able to finish the house. The address is 2309 Witcita St for the house but i think they had his burial in Burlington, NC. I think it’ll be an interesting “Fascinating Graveyards” story for you and its also on the list for houston’s most famous haunted spots.
