I just painted my entire house in Sherwin Williams Toque White. It is very neutral - went through so many whites before finalizing my choice. I really love it - I was going for a farmhouse beach feel - most of my furniture is off-white, mid-tone brown floors and black accents with a lot of natural jute, wicker, textures, etc.
What difference do you see between North facing rooms and south facing rooms? I've tried difference whites and the color changes in different rooms. It even changes between the paint tray and the walls.
I actually like to paint and I’m using Sherwin Williams in my home for the first time. I am delighted with the coverage! You said you don’t like it but gave no explanation why. I’m sold on SW paint!
Before I sold my 1947 cottage home I had it painted in all Sherwin Williams Alibaster. It was a little yellow but once it was all done it looked great and it wasn't too stark white. It has a great warm feel
So my husband and I just purchased our first house. We have to paint EVERY room. The previous owner have yellow walls which I HATE. This house feels like we walked back in time. The bathroom is purple and the master bedroom in pink and yellow. UGH. So this video will help us buy the best paint for our new home. Thank you. PS. you are beautiful with an awesome personality. Sending you love from the Pennsylvania area
Congrats on your first home!! My husband and I close on our first house next week. It's the best feeling in the world....to finally say "we own this house"!! My home is brand new but very builder grade so I am painting everything.... exterior, interior, all the cabinets in both bathrooms, the laundry room, and the kitchen, as well as all the baseboards, crown molding, and trim....literally every surface. Oh, and the ceilings too. It's a lot. Oh and furniture too! LOL!! As soon as we close, I'm buying a spray painting gun, specifically the Wagner Pro 130. It's inexpensive and a great beginner friendly paint sprayer but most importantly, it can do big and small jobs, and everything in between. What paint did you end up going with? Did you use a paint sprayer or did you roll it? The prep is extensive with spraying but worth it because the actual spray part takes so little time. I'm painting my entire exterior in Iron Ore (soft black/dark grey color), and the inside in the main area (open concept living, dining and kitchen) will mostly be in Swiss Coffee, featured in this video. It's an off-white, soft and creamy and warm but not too warm. It's perfect for my aesthetic and what I'm going with design-wise. Let me know what you did with your paint as well!! And congrats on your new home!!
It is so refreshing to see someone that is so passionate and fiercly loving their work and share that enthusiasm with others. I love color because I'm an artist and paint vivid paintings so can hear you talk about color all day!! Color does affect my mood. I used to work in a state hospital and the khaki color of the patients clothes and the creamy green of the walls (monkey vomit green) is a big turn off and am soothed in a lightest blue room or electric blue accent wall reminding me of my surfing years!! I am also calmed by cloudy weather and rain. Love your site!!
you all probably dont care at all but does someone know a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Benjamin Israel I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Wanting to paint our walls in our new construction house white. BUT lol not super bright white. Thanks for the advice! Loved how you showed them in rooms
Painted my house white a few years ago. I just used Home Depot Behr Premium Plus Ultra Pure White 7750 in Satin enamel. Its a pure white, and I can just pull it off the shelf. No waiting to have it mixed. I did get a few comments, "You paid someone to paint your house white?" LOL....yes! Now I'm loving your black rooms so looking forward to adding that contrast. So please, please do a video on the different shades of black you have used. Cheers.
I also like Behr paint. I used their Marqui paint that they matched to the CIL color Queen Anne's Lace, which is a white with a bit of grey undertone. For the trim I used Behr's Ultra Pure White. I love it. My friend loved it so much she's painting her place in the exact same colors. I was painting over a light blue and a horrible peachy makeup color and I definitely had to do two coats. Finding a white I wanted was the hardest paint color choice I've ever had to make. Thank you for your info. It is so nice to hear someone talk about paints other than Benjamin Moore.
My entire apartment is small and I painted all rooms and baseboards white. I love the white, because like you, I have black leather slim line sofa and chair, I just love white walls. I find it makes my place look a bit larger, but think sometimes a nice beige colour might add something to all of the white. In each room, I have added some grey print rugs and beige natural fibre in the living room. Thank you for all of your advice on this video.
great video! could I kindly ask what white or off-white color would you recommend for 2 of my rooms? 1. a north west facing bedroom (one window) that will be converted into a white built in closet for filming content? 2. A south west facing bedroom, one window both rooms have Shaw, desert light carpet (neutral color) its been very difficult to find a video for north west and south west rooms. Thanks in advanced for your help!
Alithos Anesti! I'm not Greek (poor me! lol) but I am Orthodox! I have just discovered you, and I am totally enthralled by your style and your videos. I am trying to incorporate some of the many things I am learning bit by bit. I love your optimism and your love of family. You keep doing you. You are amazing!
Thanks for all your great advice. I was originally going to go with Sherwin Williams but changed it to BEHR today in part because of this video. Years ago I used BEHR on my son’s dresser and our bathroom vanity and it’s held up very well. I decided on the Marquee in the color Bit of Sugar! I was so close to getting the Polar Bear but when I compared it to BOS it looked warmer. My trim and ceiling are ultra white do there is still a good contrast. I’m really excited to get started. Love your content and your home is gorgeous. So love the Scandinavia vibes 😍
For years I have only painted with white. Sears used to have the best white called rice paper. All of my homes were done win this color. I love having bold statements colors in my furniture and my walls all white.
I painted all of my walls high reflective white and I'm trying to decide which color white to paint my kitchen cabinets!? I was thinking just do them the same color?? I don't like yellow tones or blue, let me know what ypu think 🤔
Gosh, I have White Dove everywhere! Built-ins, moldings, ceilings. But I'm looking for something a smidge brighter, maybe Simply White, because I have ONE medium window in the whole of my common areas. ONE. Thank you for this video!
@@dianebaum4682 Thanks for your suggestion! This was from 11 months ago, and since, I have done EXACTLY that! Lol. I know it may seem sacrilege, but it has helped us. Thanks again!
I used Polar Bear on my kid's bedroom with extra white for trims, but actually the Polar Bear is more on the yellow side . I was quite surprise to see the it looks more yellowish.. maybe the lighting, but you will definitely have to test first :-)
Painted my living room, hallway and kitchen in Swiss Coffee by Behr. Master bath has a lot of gray tile - floor and tub area. It's many shades of gray so not my choice. Trying to decide whether to paint it a color, like Wythe Blue, or just go white. Walls are currently painted gray. Adjoining bedroom is a soft mocha color. Not sure what the former owner had in mind. Thoughts?
I bought my townhouse in 2019 and all the walls have a different shade of gray.😵💫…..I finally went for it and chose ‘BM Simply White’ and I love it (I still have walls to finish 😳), but it’s all good because I can see the difference already…..I also decided to paint my fireplace wall in the ‘BM Black Beauty’ ❤️)….I’m debating if I want to paint the mantle 🤔….but thank you so much because I have learned a lot about paint from you.
I can't believe I just watched this video now. My go to white is Polar Bear by Behr. It has been for years. Whenever I say I want to paint a room white my husband has learned to not even ask what white, he just goes and gets Polar Bear.
I took your advice on painting my ceiling, and ugly wall plates with the same color on my walls. My room has many angles, and girl what a freeing experience it was to paint my ceilings the same color. Also, I didn’t paint an accent wall but instead highlighted the one overall base color on trims with Chantilly White. My base color was BM Harbor Haze a very light teal “ish” and for this particular room it transformed especially after painting the ugly orange trims Chantilly White. It’s so serene, and I feel renewed. Thanks for helping me realize, I can step out of the box. Lastly, Now when you walk into my bedroom you aren’t noticing all the angles in my ceiling, it’s like a breath of fresh air. Now the dark adjacent hallway feels even more dark in-comparison.
Oh my God I love how you explain everything we are doing a lot of work all over the house we just painted the outside now I want white because the kitchen is Cherrywood dark red and granite undertones cherrywood red and yellow, brown our sofas are chocolate leather what color should I paint the whole house to Mach. I was thinking Swiss coffee walls and Chantilly lace ceiling and trim
The cameo white, is really interesting. It looks white even in a dark room, though it looks like a warm cream color on the can. Using semi gloss cameo white on trim brings out a shiny glow, and is brighter against the flat eggshell cameo white on the wall. This is a nice contrast. It's got a lot of warmth to it, for the winter, though in the summer, it becomes a lighter white.
My room has east and west facing windows, so not a lot of light enters the room. The flooring is somewhat oak, and the doors are walnut. Do you mind recommending some white paint options? Note: a lot of the furniture in the room is white (ikea shade white).
I'm outside of Dallas, TX, in an old shaded house, so I chose SW High Reflect (Pro 200 without tint) and couldn't be happier with the color! Color before was Alabaster and yes, I agree, unfortunately SW needs 3 coats to make it look really good.
Could you possibly do a similar video with black paints? Love your style and videos but mostly the black contrasts. I’m specifically looking for painting doors black with white walls. Would you suggest just the door or the door jams and trim as well? I’m not sure where to stop and start the contrast. Hope that makes sense. Thanks!!
But, but, but, you just proved to me how beautiful color can be wearing that blue sweater that sets off your blue eyes and the perfect shade of pinks on your face...I couldn’t take my eyes off of you.
I feel like Cameo White has a pink undertone. Also, I use BEHR one-coat-hide colors ONLY. I like the Polar Bear Color, but there’s no way I’m doing 2 or 3 coats. What’s your favorite BEHR one coat white?
Do you know the best white for a north bedroom that won’t look blue?!! I just did westhighland white and it looks white but on 2 walls I see silver ! I hate blue! Help!
Hi Valentina, I'm trying to choose a white living room paint from Behr, I'm not sure what kind of finish to use, semi-gloss satin or? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
Hi! What finishes do you combine. I want to paint my home white and some accent walls of black. I’m struggling to figure out the finish I need for the white and the black. 😩😫
Considering color theory, if you have warm-ish light bulbs, like in a windowless bathroom, wouldn’t the purple-white look the most neutral, and unaffected? I’ve never tried this or seen it, so wondering if it’s true in practice.
I recently painted my stained trim white, but now realize I chose a "creamy" white. Should the walls be whiter or match the trim. I've been wanting to paint my cabinets white, but not sure how to pick a color compared to my trim.
This video is so on time! Thank-you! If I'm painting an accent wall in my powder room limousine leather would you recommend polar bear white for the remaining 3 walls? It's a very small powder room. The black paint will go on the wall with the vanity/light fixture. Which finish would you recommend?
Hi Valentina, This comment is coming over 2 years after your video on whites, but I got to ask you this. What are your thoughts on Sherwin Williams Shoji White (SW 7042 with LRV 74) ? Planning to use it on our family room space(2 storey, south facing). What are your thoughts ?
But what if you have light cream colored carpet and dark brown colored ceiling fan? How will that look? I can’t change carpet or fixtures right now but have light tan walls and I’d like to brighten up the place
Hello Valentina, I want to paint my house all white, meaning all rooms - walls and ceiling. need some advice as to whether I should use oil or water-based paint. Should the ceiling be painted water-based or oil-based? What should be the difference in shades between ceiling and walls? lots of questions...thanks for your awesome videos, cheers
Use latex/water based paints in home always. Oil takes forever to air, and is toxic. Ceiling should be flat white paint, and you shouldn’t overthink what color IMO. You could do the same white you use on the trim. And ceiling and walls can be the one or many shades difference, it’s up to you.
Could you please explain your issues with SW paint. Is it there application, the way it wears etc? Would really Appreciate your professional reasoning?
We all want your input including me. Thank You For being so generous with your tips. The wall are behr 75 by behr in Matt. What do you use for trim, the finish and same colour?
I’m moving into an apartment on a first floor with VERRRRY low light just 1 window in the common area ☹️ . I would love a bright crisp vibe- would you suggest simply white ?
I’m on my way to purchase Polar Bear, what other white would you recommend for the trim? Also, do you use flat/matte for the walls amid semi gloss for the trim?
I just wanted to say in a well lite South Eastern Exposure room Dove White looked almost greenish, and Simply White showed up very yellow. I actually went with BM Chantilly White on trims and oh my goodness I fell in love with it. Chantilly White hasn’t any undertones.
I love Chantilly Lace! After hours of consideration (at least I only use Benjamin Moore so that narrowed it down) I chose Chantilly over Simply White because Simply just looks so warm to me. Even on the chip it looks yellow.
@@lunamcnally2062 I thought, and although I knew, and agree with you that Simply White has a yellowish undertone, but because of the cool blue sun rays coming in from my south facing window, I thought it would counter act the yellow, but it only exasperated it. Now months and I’m very happy with Harbor Haze in my particular setting and the Chantilly White for trim and closet doors. I love how brilliant it is.
Yes me too, south eastern and white dove, greenish. At first I was not happy about that, but in the end I am fine with it. I styled it to look nice. In future I think I would go more Chantilly. I walked in when the primer was on, and I felt like saying, leave it like that! When white dove went on I was, hmmm.
Hello can I paint the interior and exterior house with same color, I painted the interior with Swiss coffee can I use the same color for exterior, is it possible ?
Satin on walls, semi gloss on trim and cabinets if you want alittle shine that cleans well. Like scuff marks ect. and flat on ceiling. Hope this helps. Gloss is really shiny so I dont really use it alot.
Hi All I painted the walls dover white. I need a warm white for the fireplace. I can't choose extra white bc it is bright and stark. I need a warm white, but not as warm as the Dover walls. Any suggestions? What do you think I should paint the fireplace. What if i did it Dover white too?
Can you say more about Sherwin Willaims Pure White and Extra White please. Everyone loves Pure White but the samples I have here look very ivory. I just don't want too start and I've heard Extra White is cool with gray undertones. I can't get into the house to see samples and the light. Thanks for any info!
Hi Valentina! Have you by chance figured out what BM white for kitchen cabinets goes with Caesarstone Calacatta Nuvo quartz? I’m thinking something like Simply White or Oxford white or Heron. My trim and doors is Chantilly lace but my designer suggested going a little warmer for the cabinets.
You are so honest and cute and helpful and goofy and...I LOVE that about you! A consummate professional...and an absolute delight. Again - why aren't you famous?! Maybe you are. I am also a lifelong fan of Benjamin Moore and Behr and will use Sherwin Williams pallet. "Eventually I run out of walls and money..." is hilarious. That's when I start over. We can't NOT paint! You are always inspiring! I'm going to go paint something white now...
I bought polar bear by Behr for my first home and I loved it, we are now moving into our second place and I’m going back to that color! Thank you for posting this! 🤍
Can anyone help me? I am looking for a light gray with a beige undertone. Every time I try light gray, I end up with blue undertones. In the alternative, a white with beige undertone?
I love Behr Polar Bear because it’s a bright white without being too stark - if that makes sense. I have yet to try Behr’s Marquee line though. Will have to check it out. Thanks!
@@HouseofValentina what trim color would you use with the polar bear white on the walls? Also would you use the polar bear on the ceiling as well as the walls or would you do a different white with the ceiling?
I’m having my kitchen, dining room and living room made into an open concept with a vaulted ceiling and a Java faux beam with gray tile. What white from Behr can I use to make it look fresh and modern.

@mphailey1 you're house/color choices sound lovely🙂
Thank you! Finally someone who gave some behr options, like I don't have time to go to a separate paint store for some special paint.
I actually like to paint and I’m using Sherwin Williams in my home for the first time. I am delighted with the coverage! You said you don’t like it but gave no explanation why. I’m sold on SW paint!
I agree. Why do you prefer not to use Sherwin-Williams?
Before I sold my 1947 cottage home I had it painted in all Sherwin Williams Alibaster. It was a little yellow but once it was all done it looked great and it wasn't too stark white. It has a great warm feel

Should the ceilings and walls be the same color?
This video was exactly what I needed, very helpful!! What colour black do you use on your walls?
Luisa Kyriacou I’ve got many shades of black! Another video coming soon!
Kristine Bryant your trim should be lighter sweetie
Would these whites be your same standard for exterior?
This video is so on time! Thank-you! If I'm painting an accent wall in my powder room limousine leather would you recommend polar bear white for the remaining 3 walls? It's a very small powder room. The black paint will go on the wall with the vanity/light fixture. Which finish would you recommend?
Hi Valentina, This comment is coming over 2 years after your video on whites, but I got to ask you this. What are your thoughts on Sherwin Williams Shoji White (SW 7042 with LRV 74) ? Planning to use it on our family room space(2 storey, south facing). What are your thoughts ?
I like the color of the room you are filming in.
Question & Research it’s hematite by behr!
@@HouseofValentina Thanks.
I love your personality and your earrings.
Ms Bond 🥰 thank you so much!!
She’s one of those people you just want to hang out with. I’ve commented before on her wonderful laughter.
You’re so likable! That white face killed me 😂😂😂😂😂 thank you!
But what if you have light cream colored carpet and dark brown colored ceiling fan? How will that look? I can’t change carpet or fixtures right now but have light tan walls and I’d like to brighten up the place
Do you think it’s too trendy to do a light classic gray or would you stick to the whites ?
Hello Valentina,
I want to paint my house all white, meaning all rooms - walls and ceiling.
need some advice as to whether I should use oil or water-based paint.
Yes. I was thinking the same thing.
Could you please explain your issues with SW paint. Is it there application, the way it wears etc? Would really
Appreciate your professional reasoning?
We all want your input including me. Thank You For being so generous with your tips. The wall are behr 75 by behr in Matt. What do you use for trim, the finish and same colour?
Behr is the top pick of paint over all expensive paint in Consumer Reports...really. I have used it for 40 years and love it.
Love your cute and funny personality. Great tips on the colors, thanks
I wanted to try Polar Bear but the paint person at Home Depot said the system wouldn’t allow them to make it in a sample because it’s “too white” 😭
What color is the room you’re in? Love it.
I’m down to Alabaster or Downy from SW. can you tell me which one comes out less yellow??
What colors and undertones should i use with Behr swiss coffee?? Thanks
Hi Valentina! Is there a reason why Sherwin Williams is your least favorite? I just started shopping for paint colors and companies. Thanks Viviana
I'd like to know that also, thanks!
@@justatitle I'm glad you found the right choice for you!
What is the blue/gray color Behling you?
love Simply White by Benjamin Moore and also Chantilly Lace...new subscriber LOVE your work!
This was just what I was looking for, thank you Valentina!!!!
Yes to the video of your dark room!
Awake awesome!! Coming soon!!
Hello can I paint the interior and exterior house with same color, I painted the interior with Swiss coffee can I use the same color for exterior, is it possible ?
do you recommend gloss? semi glosa? matte?
Satin on walls, semi gloss on trim and cabinets if you want alittle shine that cleans well. Like scuff marks ect. and flat on ceiling. Hope this helps. Gloss is really shiny so I dont really use it alot.
Valentina likes the soft chalky look of Matte.
Hi All
I painted the walls dover white.
My dad has smoked in the house for years I want to pain it white but afraid the Tabacco will bleed thru any tips? Love your home and Chanel!!
Sounds like wall washing before painting.
Sharon York you need to clean the walls first with TSP cleaner
Hi Valentina! Have you by chance figured out what BM white for kitchen cabinets goes with Caesarstone Calacatta Nuvo quartz? I’m thinking something like Simply White or Oxford white or Heron. My trim and doors is Chantilly lace but my designer suggested going a little warmer for the cabinets.
Prime your walls before painting. It’s a must if you’re changing from a darker to a lighter color wall.
I have Behr Ultra Pure White 3050 for my trim. What are your thoughts for using Polar Bear for the walls? Is it ok to use 2 different shades of white?
Thanks!
Evandra Fontes let me know what you think when you do!
What trim did you used with your polar white
@@HouseofValentina what trim color would you use with the polar bear white on the walls? Also would you use the polar bear on the ceiling as well as the walls or would you do a different white with the ceiling?
I’m having my kitchen, dining room and living room made into an open concept with a vaulted ceiling and a Java faux beam with gray tile. What white from Behr can I use to make it look fresh and modern.
Do you primer over a colored wall before painting white?
You’re so fun to watch and great info!
I’m looking to paint my exterior white. Can you recommend a white exterior white paint. That would be so helpful. I love your videos. Thank you 😊
Why do you like Benjamin Moore and Bear paint better ?
