Oh, God. I'm absolutely dieing laughing right now. When you're talking about your cream crochet jumper, I had to listen to your explanation twice because the first time I heard you say "I got about 89 balls of wool". I genuinely thought you had finally gone mad 😂😂😂
Do you never sleep? So much goes on with you. Work, family, sewing, crochet, other crafts, baking, etc. etc. I am in awe. To add to everything else, you do almost every challenge out there. Be careful not to overload yourself, take time out occasionally and stop to smell the flowers. Sewing and other crafts is important to your mental health obviously, but don't put so much pressure on yourself to the point you feel overwhelmed. I now feel like your mother, sorry to nag
Oooooh white board pen. It’s my nemesis!! As a nanny for years I’ve been trying to get white board pen out of my charges clothes on several occasions. The best solution I’ve found is using rubbing alcohol and dabbing the stain with a cotton pad on on the reverse of the fabric using a piece of kitchen roll to collect the stain on. Nancy Birtwhistle has got a video on this too. Sending positive vibes and hope you can get the stain out xx
I would put a big patch pocket, cargo-style with a flap, over the stain going round to the back and over the side seam slightly. Very current trend. Trouble is having washed the garment you have "set" the stain making it more difficult to remove. Dyeing does not usually cover the stain and also it will not dye the polyester thread. It would take me weeks to go through my stash!
I got here late to the stain party ..Hairspray and embroidery were my choices but I see they have already been suggested.. Love to see your videos Liz.. I wait for them every Sunday..
I've always had good luck with Oxyclean or Stain Stick when I have a stain. Don't throw it in the drier until the stain is gone-- heat will set the stain.
Hmmmm... Have you tried a combo of hand sanitizer and blue Dawn dish soap. The one with the baby ducks on the label. Rub scrub the fabric between the palm of your hand Tooth paste sometimes works on wierd strains... Rub/scrub the stain Baking soda or Epson salt takes out really odd stains If all else fails... You could put patch pockets on the stain spot instead of in seam pockets. If you have any scraps leftover. Embroider something over it?
Most ink pens are alcohol based, so you could try some alcohol, for instance, ethanol, which might be available in hardware shops or online. It shouldn’t affect the fabric. I loved both of your finished dresses, especially the Lyra……the fabric looks divine! I love the earrings you are wearing too……are they crocheted?
For your ribbing just a suggestion but I have a bomber jacket with a knitted ribbing. So with how well your doing with your crochet you could make your own. Love your ideas and fabrics ❤
just when you held that pink jumpsuit into the camera, I was reminded of my favourite dungarees that I had a a kid, they were in a lovely pink with some flowers embroidered on them. (you know, thoses clothes that just keep remembering because they were so pretty?) so why not embroider something on the jumpsuit to hide those stains.
I saw a hack on Instagram the other day for removing pen from Nancy Birtwhistle. You lie a glass bowl upside down, place an old towel over it then lie the stained area pen side down over the towel. Then get a cotton pad soaked in surgical spirit and dab (don’t rub) the stain. It’ll transfer the pen to the towel. Keep moving the towel to a new bit and keep dabbing. Hopefully that’ll help to remove it even though you’ve washed it 🤞 let us know how you get on! Maybe if it doesn’t come out completely you could do some embroidery over it?
I've not tried it, but maybe you could try a spray whiteboard cleaner on the fabric? Either way, if you can look up the ingredients/composition of the pen ink, you might be able to find what base it is and how best to dissolve it. Last resort, using a paintbrush to paint bleach just onto the stains and watch carefully for when to wash off. It might lighten them. All else fails, embroidery to cover?
Usually hand sanitizer works well with dry erase pens although I’ve not tried it on fabric. Good luck, that’s a bummer. I enjoy your videos. I find you to be very inspiring, Liz.
Lots of other advice here about the stain, I immediately thought about doing some visible mending ie some embroidery to incorporate and cover it. You could match it on the opposite side x
What a shame about the marker stain! My first thought is to ask if you could put some kind of applique over the stained area. It wasn't clear exactly where the stain falls on your body when worn. My second thought is this: could you carefully bleach the spots, and then color in the bleach spots, using a permanent marker in a color close to the fabric color?
Ahhh such a shame about the jumpsuit! I know you said you don't want to dye it (I agree, the colour is wonderful) but if all else fails could you splatter some black dye all over the jumpsuit to make it look like an intentional print? I think that could be fun!
Sorry about that pesky stain! I'm not too optimistic about getting ink out of a natural fabric. I would try a tone-on-tone embroidery design over it or take some of the same fabric and sew on an outside pocket or patch. Will anyone notice the fix? I doubt it.
Your dresses are beautiful, Liz! I like to embroider over stains I can’t get out. The area where the stain is looks like a great placement for that type of project, and you could echo it on the other side. 😊 Do you have a baking channel? Your goodies look yummy.
HG stain away 2 works a treat on marker pens Liz. Occupational hazard for both of us . Had to rescue a cotton dress with a pattern and all colours were fine after the stain removal
Your pink and green fabric would look nice as a Lyra. If you can't get the pen marks out of your jump suit perhaps sew a few odd size patches over it by undoing the side seam wide enough to do so and you could even do some simple rows of simple hand sewn running stitches like the Japanese do I can't remember what it's called sorry.
Thanks for sharing Liz, lots of lovely fabric. 🍓🧶💙🌈

You could try neat washing up liquid, it works on quite tough stains like grease. Or perhaps embroidery over it, if it’s in a good place.

I was going to say this but you have explained it so much better. X
Methylated spirits or acetone might work on the whiteboard marker. Good luck!!
I'd be interested in trainers. If stain won't come out do embroidery, I use that when needed x
Could you embroider over the marker stain or if you have any of the fabric left patch over it 🤔

Oh that Ghost Myosotis is going to be SO cute!! Wish I lived close enough to visit your market - all your bakes sound incredible! xxx
Pesky stain … embellishments! A run of insects marching across the jumpsuit ? Children would love that❤
Wow you’ve really come on with your crocheting……I’m extremely impressed .
Could you add some cute embroidery patches over the stains to go with the color?

Try spraying the stain with hairspray and gently rubbing with cotton bud. Works for biro so it may work.
Really enjoyed catching up with you in this vlog and seeing your plans! And it was great to meet you in person at the southern sewcial ☺️
I’d dye the jumpsuit black if it were me, such a shame when that sort of thing happens! Have you tried nail varnish remover??

Love your makes so pretty you must have read my mind i always going to suggest to embroider the stain or patch work thank you for your video

Stain devils do one for ink. I've always found them to be very successful x

Hairspray or Nail Varnish Remover is worth trying on the stain. Your dresses are lovely. Xxxx

Sorry, if hairspray doesn’t work. You can try oxi clean but I do believe the spray works.
Soak it in milk. I've had a stain of a permanent marker in a blouse and it worked out. Leave the bit with the stain soaked in milk .

It's called Sashiko.
Superwoman, how do you find the time. Mind blown that you can sew trainers!!
Is the white board marker stain in an area that you could put a decorative patch on or embroider over?
Try hairspray. They say that works .if not o I lean.
xXX👍👍👍😊
