Lovely haul, you found some great fabrics. I went on the Thursday and loved it, it’s always my favourite show. M. Rosenberg is usually at the show, they are also Stitch fabrics and do have a website
Yaaas to the Marnie mini dress - it would look super cute on you x
Thank you! I might have to go for it 😆 x
The knitting and stitching show is coming to Belfast for the first time next month. I'm sure it'll be a much smaller event but I'm still excited 😊
Oh how exciting you’ll love it! Xx
Yes, I also have specific memories which are evoked when I wear my knitted items
Funny isn't it x
Thank you Sally, lovely purchases. Some exciting plans. I think a shirt dress with viscose would look great.
Thank you for watching! I’m so torn about what to make from the viscose 😆 x
Really lovely video, yes to the marnie dress, it will look lovely. Jenny stitches had one on the other day, I now want to make that dress. I am also waning to make some jackets and coats. When I was around my mid twenty, I had that second vintage pattern, and I loved the dress. I made it in a mid blue dipsy fabric with a white collar and edged the collar in a tiny cotton lace. I wish i still had that dress. Enjoy your sewing, Gwen
That dress sounds amazing! I really hope I can sew one of these up! Perhaps I’ll give the Marnie a go 😊 Thanks for watching xx
Lovely fabrics. Prepare for working with the cord, my room was covered in teal blue dust for weeks ;)
Ah yes, you've reminded me what it was like last time haha x
I went to the K&SS for the first time and loved it! I had two fabrics on my list and found both - as well as three other fabrics that had my name written on them... 😂 I've made one garment up already, a jersey top which matches a pair of trousers I made last month, and I'm delighted with all my lovely purchases 😊
I'm glad you had a lovely, successful time :) xx
Lovely purchases 😊
Thank you :) xx
You sound as if you had a lovely time Sally. Your purchases are super and well thought out. I try to go to the March one and have started to be much more careful with what I buy as I still have some fabrics from years ago 😂 I would have liked to go to this one as I’m after all the cosy fabrics at the moment and I also love @ Higgs and Higgs. I order their samples as they are so reasonable and that really helps. I would like the Sherpa lined bubble cord for a vogue jacket pattern I have but I’m still thinking about it . Obviously it wouldn’t be lined so finishing the inside seams etc. and whether I could do buttonholes as so thick. I keep thinking about it though. Thank you for your vlog and love the toy kits. I love a kit. 😊
The sherpa lined cord sounds lovely but I've wondered the same about how you would finish the seams! Good luck if you go for it! Love a good kit! x
M Rosenberg is Stitch Fabrics and yes, they have a website 😊
Thank you! Yes I discovered that when I searched - how funny I wonder why they don’t advertise as that at the show x
I'm getting serious jealousy from all these knit and stitch show hauls 😂 Some great purchases, can't wait to see your makes 🤗
Haha sorry! It’s interesting to see what people come away with as there is so much choice 😊 Thank you for watching xx
Another lovely video as always. I was curious if you brought your color analysis with you to help you select fabrics? Whenever I go fabric shopping in person I always try to remember to bring my color cards with me as well as swatches of fabric from both garments I’ve already constructed and fabrics in stash.
I forgot it and I was so annoyed as I had meant to bring it. I'm definitely having to train myself to remember to bring this along with me more x
Great vlog. I’ve only been to the knitting and stitching show once (I’m in the us) but I loved it. Could I ask the name of the patterns you used to make the doll and bear etc for your daughter. Thanks.
Of course! The elephand and giraffe are from the book Tilda's Studio. The Teddy Bear is from www.studioseren.com/ x
Hy Sally when I get the pattern out I measure across the bustjust under the arm and it’s never failed
me yet
Thank you that’s so helpful! X
Hello Sally, great finds! I'm very jealous, wish we had shows & expos like that here in the US😢. Regarding your charcoal wool, there used to be a fabric called "flannel backed satin", a nice slippery side and a brushed side that might be a lining choice. You have such great fabric shops in the UK, you'll likely find something similar. Looking forward to seeing your makes. p.s. my vote is for the shirt dress in the viscose. Take care!
Oh thank you I've never heard of such a fabric so I'll do some searching! x
Definitely a Marnie for your viscose
It would work well I think wouldn’t it x
Vintage sewing patterns are generally true to size I've found, they have nowhere near as much ease in as modern ones. The proportions are generally different as well as waist and bust lengths etc. I use them all the time and prefer them to modern even if I need to grade them up a bit, they fit me much better. I'd suggest a toile for your first try to get used to them :)
Thank you for the advice that's really helpful x
