It’s 4 degrees outside right now here. Your weather sounds lovely.
First time being on your flosstube I grew up in El Campo and Matagorda Bay I live in Alabama would love to come to the retreat
Becky, to be technically correct, from a textiles stand point, you should use cotton thrread for your piecing. The cotton thread and the cotton fabric will wear more evenly. Using a polyester core thread, the poly is stronger than the cotton fibers and will cause your seams to tear at the stitching line over time. I know with the quilting many hard core quilters who follow the cotton rule willl quilt with cotton. Many have started using a poly wrap thread. Many of us use and launder our quiltts so I see your point, but over time that seam is going to fail at the stitching.
Now to address the using only 75/11 needles. If there's shredding at the needle, likely it's needle. Needles come in sizes and types. To address the cotton thread problem with breakage, try using a larger eye needle and look at the shaft. Try a topstitch needle in a larger size, perhaps an 80/12. The shaft (groove the thread comes down) is longer and wider as well as the eye is larger, thus causing less friction and thread breakage.
Bay Point RV Park in Coos Bay, Oregon would be perfect for a retreat. Indoor pool, big conference type room, cabins, Airstreams along with great RV spots. Also, a quilt shop really close and another great shop close in Florence, Oregon. And a casino really close with more RV spots.
Watched the replay - so enjoyable and learned some new tips. Love the idea of a legend on the back of a quilt.

Check the needle chart on Schmetz needle site. I know you like Organ needles, but the guide will give you good information on needle types and when to use them.
Woo Hoo! We retired from USAF at Edwards AFB. Moved to Rosamond, several miles from the base on Hwy 14, then we moved to Las Vegas, NV 13 years ago...
I wish I could come but long trip from Wa state. I don't like flying hope it all goes well. Shoot for the west coast that would be good. Washington is a beautiful state.
