- If you brag about killing a dog in your book and expect people to believe you have what it takes to get the job done, I've got news for you - YOU DON'T!
This is not a political statement, it's a statement of humanity. Dogs are sentient beings and deserve respect. For Governor Kristi Noem to brag about killing her dog because it killed some chickens, after she tried training it with an e-collar is WRONG. I have dealt with aggressive dogs and the first thing she should do to get the job done is hire a professional trainer or two to see if she's right or wrong. THEN, if you have to put the dog down, do it respectfully at a veterinarians office. And, DON'T brag about it like you're GREAT!

I grew up in a farm in Spain, came across dogs that wanted to eat the chickens all the time... You don't shoot the dog, you either train it, find it a different job away from the chickens, or move him to a different spot in the farm. Not to mention that no one ever keeps their hunting dogs loose and roaming around... That's setting them up for failure. Some people don't understand how farm animals operate and it leads to this kind of stuff. Shameful.
I think most of the people don't understand the animals they get because for them animals are fashion.

Dogs are a huge help in a farm, they do a lot of work, they require a lot of time and money spent, and in many cases the farm wouldn't operate without them. So those who think that in a farm environment a dog that goes after chickens needs to be put down clearly doesn't understand how valuable they are to the farmer.

Somehow the waiting dog managed to get out of the truck and went for a chicken. Her fault. She probably felt embarrassed. Who knows if it ever happened at her home. Then only because the kids loved their dog and enjoyed playing around.
Where she is from its states in the law that you are required to take care of the problem animal otherwise you are to be found liable.

Things really aren’t that simple. Both underlying medical issues and genetics can drive aggression. With that said, just going by the little info in this video and others, in all likelihood it seems this poor dog was probably just being woefully mismanaged and was in need of a competent handler willing to put in the work.

The trouble is that Noem apparently had NO knowledge of training a young hunting dog with a natural strong prey drive! There was absolutely NO reason for her to shot and kill a perfectly healthy normal wire haired Pointer 14 month old puppy, yes I said puppy because large breed dogs mature slower than small dogs and are still pups at that age and they won’t reach full maturity until around 3 years old. She not only killed her dog Cricket, she also shot and killed a goat she claimed was “mean” and she didn’t like him so she shot him and wounded him, having to shot it again to finish him off, so much for her shooting skills! I used to like Noem but could care less about her now because of what she did, I can’t stand animal abusers or children abusers! She dug herself a very deep hole that she can’t climb out of now by divulging what she did, she is now trying to do damage control but this will never go away and I believe that her political aspirations flew out the window, her Goose is cooked!

We have dogs because we have lost faith in humans. For some of these humans, cruelty IS the point. Noem misjudged just how much cruelty other people would tolerate. This is the level of cruelty that predicts whether someone will be a serial killer

I like Robert‘s point of assessing a person (potential vice president in this case ) based not on how extreme they’re willing to be to eliminate a frustration, but rather whether they’re willing to accept responsibility and put in the time and effort required to actually train the dog. I just went through a troubling incident. My Aussie we rescued and had for 8 months recently attacked my teenage daughter. Admittedly, my daughter will lash out at times and be angry and loud, just being a teenage girl and having "hissy fits" nothing crazy IMO. Anyway, our dog that has gone through 2 courses of obedience training and one course of agility attacked her recently, we exhausted every resource we could use to try and find her a good home while being transparent on the reason we were looking for her to have a new home. Long story short we were unable to find her new owners that are able to give her what she needs, but fortunatley the family we got her from were able to take her home with her sister and mother. It really sucks to have to give up on an animal but shooting our girl in the head even after being aggressive with my daughter is not the right solution. I am thankful that we were able to rehome our pup back with her family and not have to put her down which was recomended to us by damn near every outlet we reached out to.

In the book, she didn't claim the dog bit her, only that it went as if to bite her.

I'm a farmer. I also do dog rescue. I also train the dogs I rescue, bird dogs. I have had to put one dog down in 20 years and it was after tremendous effort to train and rehabilitate the dog. We did it humanely through euthanasia. I can't imagine letting any bird dog breed anywhere near chickens or any kind of poultry, bunnies or other small game. It shows she is ignorant as well as without empathy or human emotion. This was a dog loved by her children. She didn't care. She enjoyed herself. Very scary person, Kristi Noem.

This event has to rank "up there" with the most sickening and disturbing things I've heard in a very long time. It didn't bother her because she's an avid hunter (i.e., see her pose with the dead elk or the campaign commercials of her shooting pheasants). She is comfortable with causing animal death. She celebrates it. She didn't value her dog whatsoever. We travel to the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center to have our dog treated by their veterinarians, due to a medical problem that she has. As you walk up and down their hallways, you see huge paintings of dogs. The U of M either had the paintings put up with a story about that particular dog, and its disease, and how it was saved. Or an owner gave the UMN a big portrait of their dog, with an inscription telling them "Thank You". They immortalized their dog. I say to myself, "That dog was loved a lot". All of these stories about dogs, as you walk down their hallways. And what did Kristi Noem do for her 14 month old puppy, who had its whole life in front of it ... many more years. She took it to the gravel pit , shot it in the head, and boasts about her qualities.
The hard thing would be to realize you can’t get it done by training & humble yourself & ask for help. What is wrong with people!

How one treats animals is a window into their soul.
Definitely no justification she could have tried good trainers, seems like she belongs to a class where one could afford best of the best trainers, could have given him to some other more experienced hunter to handle and train… Could have hired a behaviorist…and many other options….. This skill is sometimes called “Problem Solving” someone has to tell her that, which is a prerequisite for Decision Making :)

And each time she tries to defend her cruelty, the story changes: from ruining a hunt, to killing chickens to being a threat to her children. Of the latter, why didn't she say so from the get-go? Because now she's backpedaling from her "tough girl" story to rationalizing her killing rage. I understand a working crew witnessed this horror of killing a puppy and a goat. An utter disgrace. Right. Nothing to do with politics - everything to do with being irresponsible and cruel. A zero works for me. My Golden Retriever was so full of energy and antics when he was 14 months old. He’s my Novice A dog. A lot of it had to do with me being clueless, but I kept working with him and at 4.5 years old he’s a wonderful family member, companion, and competitor. It took a lot of patience and work. I can’t wrap my head around what she did to this poor dog.

I think it's a blessing and an honor when a dog allows us into their life and TRUSTS us to love and care for it. This act by Noem is the worst kind of sociopathic break in that trust. She makes me ill to my bones thinking that killing her pup was an act to prove she is worthy of Trump's choice as Veep. Very messed up value system and definition of what constitutes a worthwhile human. Despicable.

Robert, I thought the same thing when she said it couldn't be trained. There are trainers world wide that could've helped her. Most likely, she has little to no training skills. For her to boast about killing the pup like it was some rite of passage, sickens me and shows her lack of empathy. Just throwing this out there..she could've also rehomed the dog. SMH!!

Cruella Kristi seems more concerned about selling her book than the furious public backlash against her for shooting a puppy in the face. Her unapologetic arrogance isn't damage control.
I also heard she killed three horses a few weeks ago.
The older I get the more humanity disappoints me why I spend most of my time with my 3dogs Malli 81/2 yrs, GSD 6yr Malli 13 months they give so much pleasure
I like that lady but I agree what Robert said about this situation. The dog is only 14 months old, she can have the chance to save him. Dog owners should be responsible for their dogs behavior.
What's there to like?
I like her strong on protecting our borders invading from illegal immigrations, protecting American land stolen or sold to foreign enemies, protecting American people drugged and poisoned from illegal drugs cartels and criminals, protecting American people murdered by illegal immigration criminals. What I really don’t like is she shot young dog other than having somebody train the dog in best efforts to save the dog.
She also said she had to euthanize two horses around the same time. Euthanizing one horse could be compassionate.
Two at once? That just means she needed room in the horse barn.
That poor dog. My daughter is the 4th person for her dog Jerry. The previous owner was a Co-worker who loved him. But his high energy wasn't a good fit. Not wanting to put him in shelter she asked if my daughter was still looking for a dog.
My daughter took this sweet high energy, out of control boy and immediately took him for training. Smart boy caught on.
He learned sit, stay, leave it. He learned to sit and shake before eating. Then wait for the O.K. command. Plus lots of time running and playing.
No one knew he would become a hero.
My other daughter is the mom of my Special Needs Grandchild, born with part of her brain missing and prone to severe Grand Mal seizures. Jerry ended up to be a natural seizure alert dog. He did it the 1st time when get kept pawing at me while I was cuddling with my Grandchild. It clicked and we gave her rescue meds in time. He has prevented several trips to Children's.
Then a weekend with me Grandma I has a sudden severe migraine in tbe kitchen. The pain kept me from walking without stumbling. Jerry suddenly got next to me and leaned. Holding his collar he slowly got me to ky bed and then alerted my husband.
What a waste it work would have been if he had been put down before my daughter found him.

Putting my dog down was one of the worst feelings. I've experienced alot of horrible shit in life, but that broke my heart.
She "trains" a dog to fetch pheasants, then shoots him for going after neighbor's chickens..🤔
