Everyone has a different style and some are naturally better at explaining others. I have had people sit in and watch and tell me that I might consider taking less. Guess what? The owners still don't listen. So I took a class. Check out Toastmasters in your area. What I learned was to get more information, in a more concise way, in a shorter time. Also, reading the listener. If you watch, you can tell when the person you are speaking to has checked out. Keep it shorter, and avoid it. Because, after they "check out", they aren't really listening any longer.
Great video! I love learning the “two” patience/consistency. Also, I never knew that a small change in delivering the command was viewed by the dog as a different command!! That’s HUGE!
In my humble opinion, thee BEST channel in your field. I'm a disabled combat veteran with a 5 yr. old GSD/Malionis as my service dog. We were first paired when she was about 1yr. and she is the best thing to have ever happened in my life. The service dog organization that paired me with back in CA was very old school in their training as the CEO/founder was a former K9 handler in the Army. After graduating from their program - over 200 hrs. logged at the training facility and 700 + hours outside/home over the course of 2 yrs. - I eventually learned that the program that DC (Damage Control) my service dog and I went through could of been much more productive with other training methods. If you are familiar with "old school" training mixed with a military mindset then you will know what I'm talking about. Now, I'm helping my parents train a puppy Sable Shepard to be my mothers mobility service dog. I remember all of the mistakes I had made with my girl and I always send them to your channel because even though I have some experience, I am by far, not an expert and your material and training methods are top notch. I just wish that I knew of your channel when I first started out. Thank you.
Jeje Wa I spend 7 days training the 10 commands I teach ( companion training ) it takes me a full day to teach the owners then even with the commands all printed out with detailed hand leash and verbal ommands the call me saying he won’t sit or one of the other commands! They have to come to my shop and within minutes they say or signal the same commands I’ve just walked with their dog and he’s perfect! They don’t use the same commands I taught them and the dog! It’s easy to train the dog! It’s hard to train the owner!!
2:10- 2:25ish, I love it! He has Goofy come lay down closer to him & Goofy almost proudly & obediently complies. THEN Jimmy, on his other side rests his head on Roberts leg. Completely content, because this man is clearly their leader & provides structure, boundaries, expectations & is unwavering. NOT constantly yelling, pulling, etc. Sitting on the grass peacefully but CONFIDENTLY & look @ how the dogs r the same way. Peaceful & confident because theres no question about who's in charge! They KNOW he is. Great content explained in an articulate, concise way.
When he said that "sit" really loud the GSD looked at him like "What the hell Robert, I thought we were better than this" & then at the end when he was talking about having nothing else to do but train and how passionate he was and how it meant so much to him, the same Dog (Goofy), turned and watched him, like "this is my favorite part of the story" and it was almost as if he was just admiring Mr. Cabral. Genuine guy I can relate with. I learned so much, FROM dogs. Great relationship with canines. I have a great deal of respect Mr. Cabral. Thank you.
Prior to your saying "consistency", I wanted finish your sentence with "discipline". I would say that the discipline is the condition precedent for consistency. Your video pertains not just to dog training but anything in our lives: parenting, friendship, marriage and our approach to our work or vocational endeavors. Mistakes are the bedrock not of our failures but our successes so long as we learn from them and accept them as part of the learning to mastery process. Mastery at anything cannot happen until we accept our failures in the process as opportunities to succeed.
Even if you are not naturally good at something but you practise consistently the correct way, you do become much better at it. Patience & presence (or awareness) are also essential. Be consistent, patient and present. Thank you Robert.
I'm struggling with leash training a little Jackchi that I rescued. I have to use a harness on her because if I hooked the leash to her collar, she'd break her neck if she saw a bird, or squirrel. She's good about stepping into the harness; and is smart as a whip. I'm just not doing it correctly; I realize now that I'm not being consistent enough. I'll be watching your videos on leash training; and continue to train. It's quite rewarding to see the results. I think that she saved me just as much, if not more, than I saved her. I'm not giving up...we're going to get it right eventually! Thanks for the lesson; I think you're helping a lot of people with your videos. ✌
Dear Robert! Am professionel musician- should know all about consistency and patience! Yet very energetic bernese mountain dog has me flustered. Now at 2 years of age I'm beginning to understand- hope not too late- thank you so much for your wisdom!!!
I started watching your videos to help with training my in-laws dog when we have to watch her because they've never trained her to do anything but go for car rides. She completely rules their house and is treated like a child who needs treats for just being there. Watching your videos has helped so much she now has learned to sit on command and now has learned to sit to be leashed. It's slow going but hopefully someday she'll become more manageable.
I been following all your advice for 5 days now , my 3 month Mali, is sitting , walking next to me , and pooping and pee outside , Thank you , friends and family kind of criticize me because i don't baby him or i don't use harness, they think I'm hurting my puppy , I feel so accomplish and my life has so much meaning now.
"yet" is a powerful little word!! I use it for encouragement when working with both animals and people, including myself. Instead of "I can't do this!" I think "I haven't done it YET". My lab pup has learned SO much so quickly, but just could not/would not manage a "stand"... I could lure her forward from a down or sit, and knows "wait" in down and sit, but she just would not stop moving forward and wait in stand (yet). At almost 8 months, she is finally understanding as we practice stand/wait/fold-down. 👏👏👏 BTW I never noticed the fold-down as a "thing" till watching Goofy in the box. Thanks for that!
Thank you Me. Cabral. I just purchased an Afghan pup and your advice is spot on. I’m 67 and wanted something to help me with consistency. So I own “King Tut.” We’ve been working on housebreaking, leash commands and biting. Many times I wanted to throw in the towel, but your advice is evidence I’m on the right path. I’m also into martial arts and consistency is imperative if you want proficiency. Thanks again.
Consistency is one of the many skills training dogs has taught me. Whenever the training is "not working", the first thing I work on is how consistent I'm being. I'm a drummer and the ONLY way to get better is tedious repetition of the same exercise until the muscle memory is built up. I'll spend hours doing the same action thousands and thousands of times until the strokes are even and consistent. Some techniques take months and months of regular practice to get.
So true, I studied classical guitar for 16 yrs, its has taught me so much and I use the dame aproach with dogs. We're doing smth wrong if a dog doesnt get it.
You did get some life advice.. When he goes into all is a physical badass training. He lost me.. teach fighting shit.. But the consistency advises is invaluable.. Smith and Wesson leveled the other playing field.
Thank you Robert, Janet and your dogs for all that you do. Your videos are so needed, especially this one. Unfortunately, people fall in love with the IDEA of having a dog and not with the love, work and joy of training them to be their best!!💞
I have been following your videos and training my Shar Pei who can be very stubborn. I work with him every day. He listens great and people ask me who I went to! Thank you for all the great advice!
Fantastic advice for people as well as dogs, we are not so different really. The secret is in the communication, be that voice, gesture or presentation. Thank you for such an elegant explanation.
Robert has become our primary mentor for training. When we decided to get a Belgian Mailinois, I knew we needed some guidance (I had never worked with a dog like this) and discovering Robert was amazing. I used his free content, which is plentiful, for the the first couple of months of Kila's training with good success. Now we are a member at his website and Kila, at 6 months old, is truly becoming the most amazing dog we have ever owned. Thanks Robert!
Tyvm. I have a rescue lab/mal mix and I have difficulty with consistency and hyper energy by blended family members. The dog is stable but always confused. We will ALL WATCH this, tks again
2 months ago i got an 18 month old border collie, a rescue, it had completely shut down. The first two weeks it would not even take a treat off me, ive been watching your vids and been patient with the dog and treated it well and it slowly bonded with me and is now a million miles away from two months ago it heels off leash, sits lays down gives me a paw and has also gone into sheep dog mode so i use my older dog as the sheep and it circles clockwise and anti clockwise on command. I have booked us on a sheepdog course to get him on real sheep next month. i cant thankyou enough your training vids are brilliant the change in this dog is remarkable and the change in me also. lots of dog walkers where i train him are commenting on the difference in just a few weeks and its all down to your training methods, they really work well on the dogs and the owners.
Absolutely brilliant. I have been researching how to be a good owner before I would get a pup. Up until now I have had a lot of doubts about my ability. However after listening to this, I am now confident. Why? Because I have never been exceptional at anything, yet I am fairly successful. Why? Because of my routines, patience and perseverance. I have applied the same mindset in martial arts, learning, motorcycle riding and fitness alike. Thank you Robert! :)
What he says here is absolutely true. I use to breed (very limited) shepherds, and so loved them.) One thing, that use to drive me crazy was when I was bringing their food to them they would be jumping all over and sometimes knocking over the food bowl before I could place the bowl, so that problem became one of the most important thing, to me, to address in their training . It is important that your dog watches you for direction. That is a good dog. Anyway, back to the food thing. I would have them sit and wait until I told them Ok to eat. At first when I was working on this particular thing, when I leaned down to place the food bowl on the ground/floor they thought it was ok to eat, but not so, if they started to get to their food while the bowl was still in my hand I promptly brought the food bowl back up so they had to wait until they were fully still, completely, and looking to me for direction, if they start the same thing, I would do this over and over again until they realize their moves didn't work in their favor. IMPORTANT, I NEVER veered from that routine, it WORKS, but only if you do this EVERY time. This helps the dog to look for their cue from you to go ahead, with whatever word you choose to use each time. It also teaches them to be patient. This only works if you do this EVERYTIME, EVERYTIME, EVERYTIME. I can't say this enough, just as the video stresses. Unfortunately, if other people, family members who ever may feed them, it is near impossible to get this thru to them. This takes a lot off of you to have them co-operate with you. Just know they are going to test you, so be ready when you bring the bowl half way down, they are probably going to go for it before you are able to sit the bowl down. So, it is so important to immediately bring the bowl back up until they are PERFECTLY STILL for a few seconds. You don't want to have to try and dodge their head when trying to put the bowl down. They should wait until you have stood up completely, and WAIT until you give them, the WORD, and even wait several seconds before you give the WORD. Well, that is my tip, and I just learned this going down the road training my own dogs. . Best to all! P.S Sorry this is so long.
It's like you're reading my mind! I tell clients this all the time! Most people aren't patient. I tell them use the same word or phrase. Everyone in the family has to use the same words. Potty training: use the same word take them out the same times out the same door. Especially until they "get it". I'm so consistent in my personal life I drive those around me nuts! Workout three times a week, same days each week. Food, too. So, I hear ya!
Thank you! Needed this today. 2 weeks into my black lab pup. She’s 10 weeks now. I’ve had dogs but golly, potty training in winter in the Pacific Northwest is a young man’s game. Lol.
Your videos have seriously changed training my puppy overnight!!!! Amazing work. It really is all about consistency and putting in the work. I also love your treat training techniques and the idea of not over talking to your dog. Tone has also made a huge difference... can’t say enough about your videos! ❤️❤️❤️
Being present. I think is more important than emphasizing consistent and patient, (although they go hand in hand - can’t have one without the other. ) Just reminding people that they need to live in the now and get out of their distracted human brain. I tell people to learn to use their animal brain and pay attention to everything in their environment-especially their dog. Having faith is important. I always repeat that old saying that it is always darkest just before the dawn. Just when you are sure you will never succeed with your dog is right when your dog is about to have a breakthrough. Laser focus and do not give up!
Very good advice! Not only for dog training, but for life as well. I have been watching your training videos to help get a pitbull rescue under control. Consistency has been a common theme I've noticed and embraced. Happy to say I've made huge progress with the dog and must also say the training routine and consistency as made my life noticeably better. Thank you for the great content Robert!
We just got a 4-year-old female German Shepherd who was never been taught anything but remarkably sweet and well behaved considering where she came from. I am sure we will be watching many of your videos. Thank you!
What an amazing insight! Do not change your technique, unknowingly most of us do that because we dont get desired results, every day watch a new video and hope for a miracle that our dogs will be trained with that technique... All we do is confuse them and set them up for failure...
I knew a girl years ago who lacked patience and tried to train a new puppy in her life; she was a person who talks a lot and fast but for love or money couldn’t even train her dog to sit. One day I bet her $5 that she in fact had done it, she took the bet and then I won by mimicking her saying “sit, sit, sit,Sit!” and the dog sat... she had accidentally taught the pooch only sit if the word was said 4 times fast and the last was louder. It was amusing and a bit of learning curve for her.
Big thumbs up Robert! My new 2 year old is almost full on loose leash walking now. Still gets excited when someone approaches, otherwise doing great. Thanks for your talks.
You're lucky. My son never adapted to the leash and he's twenty now. He still gets excited when approached, especially if she's eighteen and in a bikini.
If you think about it that's good advice in parenting. Be consistent and having patience. Not comparing kids and dogs, just saying if you have those two things it's pretty awesome what you can achieve. Love your training and your podcast. Have learned alot with my dog, and with myself. Thanks
I totally agree. Yet where I train Zed on a public field I get called "crazy", and worse. I am there to train and play with Zed, to fulfil her life. Both mentally and physically. None of these unkind people do anything with their dogs . I am not wrong to teach her all I can as she loves to learn, but , wow, people can be cruel. Thanks Robert. : )
I have watched countless dog training videos from countless dog handlers and I get a little bit from most of them or at least I try to take away something positive. But you my friend are a complete joy to watch and learn from. Your passion is what makes you so good at what you do and your ability to teach people just come shining through. Thank you for your consistency here on UA-cam and all the time you put in to making this world a better place for both people and dogs. There’s a big difference watching someone just going through the motions of teaching and watching you be 100% present in what you do. I wish we lived closer so I could shake your hand. God bless brother!
I agree, if ya don’t have the time/patience, to put in the work ya gonna set ya self up for failure. I also believe that yelling at the animal will have it thinking about the yelling and won’t be able to concentrate on anything until it’s calmed down again, to say nothing about praise, very important..praise.. top tips mate. Thank you 🙏
The gentle firmness and consistency you have when interacting with your dogs gives me so much confidence. Consistency is key in nearly every aspect of life where we want to be successful, so this really resonates with me in regard to dog training. I see how much enjoyment both my dog and my cats get from simply anticipating a treat at a particular time of day, so this makes perfect sense.
What an amazing channel. Im so glad I found it, Robert Cabral. You're a wealth of information, experience and REALITY with Dogs. This is an educational opportunity for ppl that can be humble & recognize that this man has forgotten more than most of us will ever know about dogs(just using that saying, but I actually dont think he forgets a THING!). What a true gift this information is. Thank you Mr. Cabral. 👍
Hey Robert, i am a German Doghandler who works in Schutzhund Sport. I handle a Dutch Shepard and an German Shepard....i saw this video and you for the first time. What you say is what i now deep in my mind........but..... is it so easy? Humans are so complex ......i think it is so important to bring yourself in the right constitution befor you start training with your dog´s. It isn´t so easy when your day goes wrong befor you had a hard day at work and all that stuff...... Sometimes i ask myself after a good and also after a not so good training, what was the differnce, why the training runs one day good and the other day not??? The answer is everytime the same....it´s me and my constitiution during the training. So i try to bring me in the right emotion.......switch to a good mode.............i try. I ask someone ,2 times Worldchampion in Schutzhundsport (Peter Scherk) " Peter what are you doing when you have a bad day?" Don´t start and stay at home?? He answer: I start with easy thinks where i now that my dog do this very well.....mostly after that it brings my a smile in my face and the training is runing.....
1000% agree! I haven't had a dog for awhile, but the ones I had were well behaved, because I was always consistent and patient. And I never used treats, only praise. SUBBED
Being a pianist has taught me patience, and helped with my dog training. When you practice a skill thousands of times then repeating a dog command a few times is easy. Great video, thanks!
Thank you, this is how I trained my Corso. Now he gets to be free off leash everywhere. In our twon most people know him and he is welcomed in stores and bars in town. Your Jimmy got a spring under him. Just like my corso, doesn't like to lie down for too long. I rewinded to see when Jimmy popped up. He is funny.. but, now I got to apply this advise to life...
This is key as you say to anything in lie we want to accomplish! I'm a professional network marketer by trade and the key to success there is consistency. My 4 month old GSD we brought home at 8 1/2 weeks. Everyday at all 3 meals the first half of her kibble is used or training, consistently. She can already do all the basic commands like sit, come, down heel. But she will also shake hands when I say "pleased to meet you", she will weave thru my legs as I walk and she'll come right beside me when I say "right here". Robert you are spot on in your approach. Enjoy your channel!
Thank You So Much Sir for the Simple But Powerful And Useful Techniques. Being the First Dog Owner, it's really difficult to understand the Dog. But now I realized that before giving training to the Dog, we must understand ourselves first. Once again Thank You So Much
I’m becoming a dog trainer and I think the hardest thing for me to grasp, and this video helped so much to explain it, was what consistency really meant, including how tone of voice has to truly be the same every time I give the cue. This made my day because even I sometimes get down on myself like why am I facing difficulty when I don’t need to. It’s for these very reasons, truly honing patience and consistency! Thank you Robert for the wise words! Aloha from Hawaii 🌺🐕✨
your awesome I’m learning wudang kung fu now and trying to take training my catahoula very serious he’s older and I want to change his life for the better. Very inspiring to watch this
Thank you sir! This was great advice. I am guilty of my puppy only listening when I repeat commands, and you are exactly right I need more patience. Because when I DO only say the command once in just my regular voice, he usually listens just very delayed. It’s like he’s thinking or waiting for me to repeat it! And as far as consistency, I didn’t know that’s what dog trainers meant by “consistency.” By being consistent in your every day life, not just your dogs routine. My 17 week old golden pup knows my routine and I am very consistent with it, but I can work on being even more predictable also.
_' It’s like he’s thinking or waiting for me to repeat it!'_ That's the danger of repeating commands. The dog thinks the cue is "sit", "sit", "sit" instead of just "sit". It's the pattern they recognise.
Exactly. It also works the same way with children. People always asked me how my dogs were so well behaved ect. Only answer I could give is that I teach them like I do toddlers / children. Consistency & routine. If they know what you want, they know how to behave & if they know what to expect (routine) it makes them more secure.
The dog keeps moving because he is very hot and needs water! I love this teaching very much. And I would add, be aware of your dog’s behavior - it may be a real good reason for it. I had to learn this lesson myself.
Thank you. The example you showed of saying a command over and over in a different way really showed me how dogs can differentiate that as three different requests. I must remember this. Thank you
You always seem to post a video exactly when i need it 😂 ive literally just figured this out. I put way too much expectation on my pup, got very frustrated and in the end i almost quit, and because i too have been doing martial arts for years i thougt screw it i wont give up ill just change my approach. In the last two weeks my dog is a completely different dog, she is happier, im happier and her work is benefiting from it also.
Every time i watch on your chanel i have something to learn a new knowledge, this video give me hope that one day i can do it w/ my dog Bradley a 1 1/2 y old male Belgian malinois that i can make him walk beside me, before i seing this video im lossing hope im about to give up and give up my dog he always fulling me everytime that i give him a walk, i've even try your technique w/ maya on the mountain w/ a long leash but it doesn't work i have to make him tired first before he can follow me around, but w/ this video telling me that i have to do it over and over again, thank you Robert watching all the way here in the Phillipines God Speed.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!! IT has helped me with me, and my mindset. Thank you thank you thank you 😊. Now my dog won't be confused, and walk away when she is done with me.
Love it my Mali has actually taught me he is smart enough to adapt to consistent hand signals… he has moved past verbal command more than I even knew while he still teaches me if anything he gots it but i am confusing him
I really enjoy these videos and have saved a number of them for future reference. I agree with 99% of everything. Really the only thing I have a issue with is tone. I agree that during training tone should always be consistent. But a dog can sense intent, urgency, pleasure or displeasure if you use different tones.
THANK YOU for being: Disciplined. Consistent. Leadership. Rewarding Yourself and Others. Praising and Correcting Yourself. Explaining. Creating and Having Relationships With Yoorself & Other People Bonding. Having FUN. 😎😊👍👍😀😇 MUCH APPRECIATED & ENJOY TODAY!!
Good video. Only thing I would say is if you aren't good at something, you don't have to necessarily quit. If it's your choice and you enjoy what you are doing, keep doing it. Not every golfer is a Tiger Woods.
You're brillant. I've found your UA-cam channel earlier this week, passed it to my daughter(22 yo) and she already has an appointment with a dogtrainer on this coming Sunday (here in France - we'll check if he's okay thanks to your advices). The dog (aussie from an association shelter) is 8 months old and he's okay (socialized, dogpark every day, does many things as stand, down, sit...). But he doesn't clearly get under control yet the basics "The COME command, the STAY command and the LEAVE IT command.". Thanks for your work ! It helps a lot.
I am so guilty of doing the 'sit, Sit, SIT!' routine. Never before was I conscious of this though. Thank you so much for pointing it out. I have a 10 week old Irish Terrier and being consistent, patient and present when training is what I will be aiming for as of now. :) Thanks!
try hand signals first. It works every time...cause you are forced to just calm down, relax, do it one time and the dog is having fun. Works. no words allowed training-then when you have gotten that-words
Your videos always pop up at the perfect point in time! I start off with patient intentions - you help remind me to follow all the way through with patience. Invaluable contribution that you providenin the love of dogs. Thank you immensely!
Yup! I'm teaching poochy to walk backwards now. About a month in and she barely sits. Nothing close to refined but we're making progress and in no rush to avoid frustration.
that is a great way of stating this. I make this mistake too often. I had one of my dogs that only did the command when I said RFN after the command and looking back to me it meant sit I mean it but the dog was always waiting for me to say RFN, it was like the release command yes now you can sit. I would have guessed you were younger Robert, I know I have aged 10 years in the past 3 years since losing my leg and lack of sleep.
That seriously couldn't be truer. Thank you!Robert. I have a 4 year old boxer/ Shepard mix,and my shift changes so for 3 months it is me walking him with alot of tools,as he is extreemly dog reactive. On the fourth month my fiance walks ,by the time the month is up.I have to start all over.
Hello Robert, im from norway so Maybe not the best to write english. But i have been grown up with german shepards , and have learned alot of dog training from my dad from i was walking until the last GS sies from cancer 2 yrs ago. However , im waiting on my first own dog coming in june. A 50% Alaska husky , 25 swedish elkhound and 25 finnish bearhound, and looking forward to this. But i have a funny story , my friend needed some help a few yrs ago , his Drever Didnt want to lay down at all, and i was doing what you tell/teach because i was thought IT this way , but anyway the dog refused to lay down for over 2 hours , but after that code was cracked , i was able to continue over that day.. and i showed the way for my friend , but he was still jumpin steps and to day still doesnt lay down at HIS command , but when i come , the dog listen to me , but im almost never see them because he is living far away these days. But thank you for your videos , IT will help me to Get a easier start with my new puppy for sure. Patrick
You are 54? Shiiet, you look amazing! And you knowing martial arts clears more things for me, I was thinking that you had all this confidence radiating from you from just dog training and gym, but ma makes it much more explainable. You are great, man!
Long line training works! Stubborn golden retriever, then a REALLY stubborn Aussie. Best dogs I've had. My friends marveled at how I was "so lucky" getting well trained dogs from puppies. Huh? People think it's magic, but magic has NOTHING to do with it. Dogs are pretty smart and will get it, but the trainer is really who needs "training". If you, the human, can't train a dog who desperately longs for a leader, what are you doing? So forget what you think you know, and go learn. Your dog will live happier!
come over to my online dog training website: robertcabral.com
Hi Robert
Many thanks for getting back to me
Will do , an thank you again 🙏
I am a dog trainer and I tell all my students that "consistency" and "patience" are the two most important elements to training their dogs.
Consistency, patience, and love!! You fools think these beautiful souls are just an item to obtain!!
Yeah Robert just said the same thing 🙄
@@earthwormjim9229 Yes, I know. I was agreeing with him.
Been training dogs for over 30 years. Truer words have never been spoken!
Thank you!

@@RobertCabralDogs I'll be true to my words he is one of a kind and very respectful ...
How did you get your first job training dogs ?

I raise my voice of the same word as we know it. It becomes a different word in a dog's mind. I never thought about it like this. WOW!
Their hearing is super sensitive :)
My biggest mistake.
Yup I have done this, now I am aware of it so will do my best to no longer do it
Me too, I never thought of it like this. Mind blown.
The biggest secret in training dogs is to train first the owner.
That is sometimes the hardest part. BOB.
That reminds me of dog trainer Victoria Stillwell so much holy vow

Cabral. Thank you.
100% agreed! Consistency is the most important thing in every teaching, including teaching dogs and self learning 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼☺️🐶
It seems that you are consistently teaching us humans, too. Thanks for the great video.
It's like a piece of the puzzle that completes the picture.
@@TeslaNick2 brilliant! My feelings exactly!
Person struggling: "I tried everything. Nothing works!"
Robert Cabral: "Try one thing, keep repeating it, and stick to it."

Was looking for an advice for dogtraining, it seems I found advice for live.....
Life* but I get cha my brother!!
@@kripiitonik5009 😃🤗
A Shar Pei being stubborn ???? NEVER !
Thank you for those nice words. Glad to be a part of your training.
Woooooow. I was here 2 years ago. I see my comment under yours. This is EXACTLY the truth.. What you just said. I did it too and this WORKS. 💪😎💯
I am a psychologist and I really believe that it is important to understand the dogs psychology. Thanks so much for this important information.
@Robin Nilsson Sort of. I have "work" clothes which vary every other day.
Congratulations on both achievements, you just unlocked level... I mean congrats, awesome bro! :)
Man your sense of humor is solid .
Sir Bitchalot I was wondering who was chasing my daughter the other day, hahahah
@@Bradley.maloo0133 now u know!!😂
If you think about it that's good advice in parenting.

Being a pianist has taught me patience, and helped with my dog training. When you practice a skill thousands of times then repeating a dog command a few times is easy. Great video, thanks!
consistency so true in everything in life including watching Robert Cabral videos.
Great Job!!
Nice work. Fun tricks are the best ! Love the "right here" cue !
_' It’s like he’s thinking or waiting for me to repeat it!'_
That's the danger of repeating commands. The dog thinks the cue is "sit", "sit", "sit" instead of just "sit". It's the pattern they recognise.
I really want to cry after watching this video! I should watch it earlier, and it is encouraging me to keep training my dog. Thanks for this video!
Exactly. It also works the same way with children. People always asked me how my dogs were so well behaved ect. Only answer I could give is that I teach them like I do toddlers / children. Consistency & routine. If they know what you want, they know how to behave & if they know what to expect (routine) it makes them more secure.
This may be a few years ago but I needed it today. Thank you.
Your level of patience shows in your dogs, my salutations to you sir! You're a great trainer and a model citizen.
Thank you
Yes. Love training your dog and it shows! It’s also a lot of fun
Hello Sir, I would say "Clarity", consistency is implied in clarity. Minor thing, I know you know that.
You truly are Heaven sent. I really needed to hear this. Thanks SO much.
Robert, thanks for all your videos. Ive never once disagreed with one of them and i have learnt so much. Well done.
Thanks for painting the whole picture sir you seem like a very knowledgeable and sincere guy... I believe u
Ok I hear you.i get it.thank you
You always seem to post a video exactly when i need it 😂 ive literally just figured this out.
How true ! Everytime you change the technique, it throws the progress of the training back to zero.
Stick with it my friend. Don't give up, try harder instead.
Thanks great advice

Brilliant advise....that's what I was doing so wrong...now I get it...thank you🙏
I am so guilty of doing the 'sit, Sit, SIT!' routine. Never before was I conscious of this though. Thank you so much for pointing it out. I have a 10 week old Irish Terrier and being consistent, patient and present when training is what I will be aiming for as of now. :) Thanks!
Great 😃
try hand signals first. It works every time...cause you are forced to just calm down, relax, do it one time and the dog is having fun. Works. no words allowed training-then when you have gotten that-words
I hope you have been successful
Your videos always pop up at the perfect point in time! I start off with patient intentions - you help remind me to follow all the way through with patience. Invaluable contribution that you providenin the love of dogs. Thank you immensely!
I appreciate you so much, thank you for all that you do to help us
I’ve had my Doberman for just over a week and your videos are great thanks!
Perfect advice. Thank you.
Such a wonderful video. Your love and passion for dogs brings tears to my eyes. ❤
Thank you so much!
Consistency truly is the key to success in anything!
God bless, everyone.
Thank you, Robert. I was feeling discouraged in my training - I definitely needed this refresher video. . .
Thank You Robert, so clear explanation.
I found you the other day...subscribed, and watched many of your UA-cam’s. You’re motivating me first which reflects on my dog. So TY!!
Your dog will live happier!
one mans consistency, is another mans control issues. said with love!
That was so true with so many things in life.
