I bought my first full sovereign from Atkinsons and it was so tiny I thought I'd been sent half a sovereign. I had to weigh it at 8 grams before I believed it!
Lovely piece. Sovereigns hold a special place in my affections, I have taken delivery of a Jubilee Head Victoria Sovereign just hours ago xD. I eagerly anticipate your further displays of gold on your channel.
Nice coins, I've just ordered my young head elizabeth 2nd this morning looking forward to receiving that from tavex, tavex has the best prices at the minit, im building my ounces uo with sovereighns, awsome video josh, best coin in the uk in my opinion 💯
That’s great mate I’m pleased to hear that. Tavex do have the better prices at the moment they are nice people that work there so I’m always very happy to work in collaboration with them when I get the oppurtunity to. You’ll have quite the stack of sovs coming along mate, always appreciate your ongoing support. Have a great day mate
Hello Mac mate 🤝 hope you're doing well, great video this was and I enjoyed the gold eye candy 🔥 love me a nice sov! I also think sovereigns are king for us gold stackers here in UK, britannias look very nice but the fact I can get a half sov for better value than a 1/4 brit and the full sovs being even better 🔥 there's nothing that beats the sov for stackers, great fractional that's affordable for most and of course CGT exempt, bit of history chucked in with the older ones too I mean what more do you want haha we're lucky to live here and have that opportunity imo 👍 hope you have a great day ahead mac mate, really enjoyed this video 🤝🍻
Hi mate hope you’re well. Pleased you liked the video, couldn’t agree more mate I’d say you hit the nail on the head there. I’ll have to buy a sov after this
With gold price taking a little dip lately, I may buy some gold. I am thinking about two sovereigns, such as QE 2nd young head, because I like the design.
Thank you for the information. I find that bullion dealers appear to send best value sovereigns that are post 2000. What do you think? I will check out Tavex. Did you say that they had a competition running? 👍
I found the 1957-1982 to be the cheapest but it’s only a few £. They are running a competition, click this link for their competition: swee.ps/uLoZJp_ZdnRsp
Tavex, chards, Atkinsons to name a few. You’ll be offered spot but the margin on the spot price and what they sell them at are usually around £14. The dealers really don’t make much from best value sovereigns
@@toadinthehole84 dealers will pay just below the spot value of gold at the moment because it has moved up quickly in price. Usually dealers sell sovereigns for 2-3% best value. Take a look at Tavex, chards, Atkinsons, Hatton garden metals. All good dealers and offer good priced sovereigns. Nice choice btw, best gold coin you can buy in my opinion is a sov
@@macdonaldbullion Commented earlier about Sovereigns not being 'investment quality' gold. I was wrong and have deleted that post; apologies. Apparently, it's a higher purity for bars, but 91.67% is acceptable for coins.
@@daniyal4484 Less premium, lower price, easier to sell a £450 coin instead of £1900 coin which is a lot to pay for just 1 coin. It’s harder to sell 1oz gold privately. And sovs are old coins with history with a great design too. Wins for me personally but both great coins
@@macdonaldbullion I would buy one for my coin collection so I’ll probably look for something professionally graded in MS60 ~ 65. Maybe 1855 for personal reasons. And try to keep it around US$1,000. At Christmas I picked up a 1912 $2.50 Indian Head Gold Quarter Eagle MS-62 with a CAC green bean for $700. So I’m thinking I should be able to get nice Queen Victoria for $1K which is around 900 quid?
Don't think you mentioned the various smaller Britannia coins that need to be considered. The Britannias actually look like gold as well, which is a bonus.

But best value premium by Gold amount its Britannia not sovereign, because u must buy 4 sovereigns to equal short 1oz Britannia coin, and by Gold Volume and amount premium, Britannia is a Winner... I don’t disagree with you and I see why people would prefer Britannias which is why I need to say it’s just my opinion on the matter, both Britannias and sovereigns are both great gold coins to own. I will hopefully have a gold Britannia some day😊
