I’ve got nothing against the post 4Kids era, but this was the peak of Sonic’s portrayal IMO. Black Knight was the one game that actually made me cry cos of the send off the 4Kids and Crush 40 got and deserved.
This scene, man. I love the way Sonic spared Merlina's life even though she tried to kill him. It was awesome of him to spare her, and that quote was one of the best! "Merlina...Every world has it's end. I know that's kinda sad, but... That's why we have to live life to the fullest in the time we have! At least, that's what I figure!"
Sonic The Hedgehog He only stopped because her weird evil form (final boss) was defeated. Had it kept going Sonic would’ve of killed her had he no other choice.
I actually liked Merlina's character and found her plot twist was rather well executed. She consider's her grandfather's failure a mark of shame, that all the work he did resulted in a Kingdom that barely strove and thrived only to fall into ruin. She's possibly one of the more complex character's the Sonic franchise has cranked out since the comics.
The order of game IMO should go something like this. -Sonic 2006- *DELETED FROM TIME!!* Sonic Rivals(Confirmed by Sega to be both canon and Silver's canonical introduction to the series after 2K6 was deleted from time) Sonic and the Secret Rings Sonic Unleashed Sonic and the Black Knight
Agreed. It's such a disappointment. They'll always be the best Sonic voice cast to me though. They hit home the most and I still miss them very much. Especially Jason. Everybody sounded perfect in this game. It's a real shame that they're not voicing the Sonic characters anymore.
Actually, almost all of the 4kids cast was replaced. The only one who wasn't replaced was Mike Pollock, The voice of Dr Eggman. He became the sole survivor of the cast replacement with those from Studiopolis, such as Roger Craig Smith and Cindy Robinson.
Ryan Drummand is the most accurate Sonic in terms of voice and character direction: this impatient hot-headed energetic guy with tons of one-liners but a good heart who doesn’t hesitate to fight the bad guys. Jason though will always be my favorite because he feels like the next stage of Ryan’s Sonic: more mature, a bit calm but still intense, more patient, and constantly looking out for people. I really miss that Sonic.
This ending is really sad when you realize this was the end of an era, the last fully 3D Sonic game voices by the best voice actors the series ever had.
Me too I kinda grow to Roger Craid Smith being the new voice actor for sonic but it doesn't feel so right about the fact that I can't hear sonic saying some words of wisdom that kind of stuff since Jason is done voice acting him so sad

I mean one of the script writers or some people worked on previous Sonic games left after this game, then it became worst script or writers two people don’t know nothing about Sonic they came from Happy Tree Friends. Sega should never replace 4Kids anyway, they should know they have effort of acting to the characters that fits from Sonic X and then got replace new cast except Eggman because no one can be top than him.
This was the best ending to a Sonic game period. Live Life is my favorite song in the franchise. I know the gameplay wasn't exactly Sonic's thing, but I thought it was solid. We all need to live life to the fullest, as our time here on this earth is so short, so enjoy it!
They even had a Special Thanks for the fans... That's what I call a true fanservice. Not just copying and pasting levels from old games. I miss the old Sonic Team's sincerity.

We may never see this side of the Sonic Franchise ever again but as this game told me as a kid: We gotta enjoy our time we have to the fullest every day. And I enjoyed every second of this Sonic Era. Funny story: When I first played this game, I hadn’t played many sonic games, therefore I wasn’t used to the multiple ending credits that one game would have. After beating King Arthur in Faraway Avalon and the credits rolled, I had thought “man, that was a short game, but it was still really fun” and didn’t pick the game up again for a solid two months. After that time, I decided to play it again, because why not, saw the red icon for Knights Passage and thought “the fuck?” That day, my only gripe with the game had been vanquished Also; live life is one of the best sonic songs ever
It's quite funny that this ending talks about how everything has to eventually end and that we must make the most of it cause as it happens this is the last time this voice cast will star as these characters. Irony FTW lol

I guess...All things really do have to come to an end and we just gotta enjoy what we had...How prophetic of you, Sonic.

Secret Rings- really happened to sonic Black Knight- telling Amy about his adventure into another story (happened as he recalls his friends not being the same people and the fact that the story he was telling amy about changed to the title of the game (just like in Secret rings)

At the post game of Sonic Unleashed or when you're going to the last temple, if you head back to Shamar and talk to Amy, Amy will say "And when you're done, the world will be at peace and we can finally go out!" Sonic has an option to either reply "That could be fun." or "I'll pass, thanks." Since Black Knight follows Sonic Unleashed, I'm guessing the canon respond was the first.

That wasn't the only spot where he loved them, in the other series, which was better in my opinion, he also loved chili dogs. He jsut could get them often because everyone in the cities were roboticized. Though in one episode where they went into an underground city, he went and got a chili dog and said he loved them. Also when they went back in time he got one too.

Jason’s best performance (besides unleashed) Ryan Drummond captures sonic’s punk teenager side, which was mastered in sonic heroes And Jason Griffith showed a more...laid back approach to sonic. It didn’t work so much in Shadow The Hedgehog, but he mastered it in unleashed and black knight Roger Craig Smith however is a good sonic...in sonic boom. I just don’t like Roger as modern sonic, but he nails boom sonic basically since it’s an alternative universe variation
this must be the greatest story line for a game!!! the last amazing one was sonic adventure 2 battle, this one i think is better! i also like how they did the cut scenes. Sonic and the secret rings was a tad.. plain. But they added a lot of detail, and created a great game! 8/5!!! Great job :D
When Sonic says he was the real King Arthur he was talking about the King Arthur from real life history, the Arthur from the start of the game was never real he was just an illusion created by Merlina.
I think it all depends on perspective with this canon stuff. Some could say that SonAmy is only canon in Sonic X, and then others could say that SEGA wouldn't allow it if it wasn't canon, and then others would say that they would because Sonic X is just a spin-off series, then others would say no it's not, then people might look at this ending thing and say it doesn't matter because SonAmy is in the games anyway, then others would say Amy forces Sonic into dates and stuff, and that...

But later in 28 may Roger Craig Smith Return as Sonic again I was happy too, but I like three of Sonic Voices Wich they are BEST. Only Cindy Robinson no longer voice as Amy anymore.
God damn dude, it’s still insane how this game of all the sonic games is the one with the most impactful ending and story, if you ask me. The ending and credits with Live Life are just so perfect, and I know that emotion is boosted by this being the last 4kids era game, and while generations is technically the end of this era of sonic, this always felt like the end of a different era. Still makes me emotional from time to time.

This is one of the best Sonic games I ever played. The gameplay may not be as good as SA2B, but the music and the level designs are defintly epic.
Merlina doesn't really seem evil. But if it was a male, I am sure that he wouldn't have spared him lol.

The chilidogs are a tribute to Sonic, period. The old comics and books placed a lot more emphasis on them. They weren't just exclusive to Underground.

Secret Rings- really happened to sonic
Black Knight- telling Amy about his adventure into another story (happened as he recalls his friends not being the same people and the fact that the story he was telling amy about changed to the title of the game (just like in Secret rings)

At the post game of Sonic Unleashed or when you're going to the last temple, if you head back to Shamar and talk to Amy, Amy will say "And when you're done, the world will be at peace and we can finally go out!" Sonic has an option to either reply "That could be fun." or "I'll pass, thanks." Since Black Knight follows Sonic Unleashed, I'm guessing the canon respond was the first.
i'll never ever forget this game. sonic in king arthur's story? shadow as lancelot? the knights of the round table? my favorite game characters in a legendary literature? is there anything more awesome than this? nah man. nah.
Jason did his best hear in this game, as he did in Unleashed as well! But this was amazing! He was, is and always will be my favorite sonic! =D

That wasn't the only spot where he loved them, in the other series, which was better in my opinion, he also loved chili dogs. He jsut could get them often because everyone in the cities were roboticized. Though in one episode where they went into an underground city, he went and got a chili dog and said he loved them. Also when they went back in time he got one too.

Ryan Drummond captures sonic’s punk teenager side, which was mastered in sonic heroes
And Jason Griffith showed a more...laid back approach to sonic. It didn’t work so much in Shadow The Hedgehog, but he mastered it in unleashed and black knight
Roger Craig Smith however is a good sonic...in sonic boom. I just don’t like Roger as modern sonic, but he nails boom sonic basically since it’s an alternative universe variation
I don't know why sega doesn't make actual movies out of these theyre really good stories in sonic version.

So basically sonic was royalty regardless of canonicity. First the Archie comics, then sonic underground, and now the mainline games? Damn.
Wait. If Sonic is King Arthur at the end, then when Sonic fought King Arthur at the beginning and end of the game, he was fighting himSELF somehow!
When Sonic says he was the real King Arthur he was talking about the King Arthur from real life history, the Arthur from the start of the game was never real he was just an illusion created by Merlina.

I think it all depends on perspective with this canon stuff. Some could say that SonAmy is only canon in Sonic X, and then others could say that SEGA wouldn't allow it if it wasn't canon, and then others would say that they would because Sonic X is just a spin-off series, then others would say no it's not, then people might look at this ending thing and say it doesn't matter because SonAmy is in the games anyway, then others would say Amy forces Sonic into dates and stuff, and that...

It was actually pretty good to hear all those old themes in in this game.
All the people crying about the 4kids cast leaving are probably the same people who bitched about Jason Griffith replacing Ryan Drummond
But, later Roger Craig Smith and Cindy Robinson are no longer voice as Sonic and Amy. It was true.
But later in 28 may Roger Craig Smith Return as Sonic again I was happy too, but I like three of Sonic Voices Wich they are BEST. Only Cindy Robinson no longer voice as Amy anymore.
Granted, Jason didn't have the smoothest start, but he was at his best in the Storybook games and Unleashed.
God damn dude, it’s still insane how this game of all the sonic games is the one with the most impactful ending and story, if you ask me. The ending and credits with Live Life are just so perfect, and I know that emotion is boosted by this being the last 4kids era game, and while generations is technically the end of this era of sonic, this always felt like the end of a different era. Still makes me emotional from time to time.
