Great one again from Ustroń is at the very top of a mountain Równica above the city - you can easily go there by a car too if you need. There are actually 2 restaurants, one is Zbójnicka Chata which is OK but the great one is called Dwór Skibowki - it has a GREAT view from the mountain and great food. We ordered a full course (korytko) meant for 4 people - and we couldn't finish it in 6 people. :D
Żurek was a good choice - one of our national soups, my personal favorite. Rolada śląska (Silesian) is typical for Silesian province, but in other provinces popular as well. Rolada can be easily made wrong if cook is not experienced enough. You need to visit "karczma's" that have "hunting dishes" with venison as well. There are polish dishes as well and they are really awesome.
Possibly. If that is the case, she might thing of other job then waitress. The last time I check, waitress is suppose to comunicate with customers freely. That is like having veterinarian scared of animals.
Soup was żur or żurek made from sour rye flour, its my favourite one. 2nd meal was rolada śląska z kluskami śląskimi, a typical silesian Sunday meal, also one of my fav but I grew up on it. Polish food is not spicy its usually sour and in mountain region of Poland I would recommend kwaśnica, pierogi, grilled oscypki with cranberry sauce. Meals there are simple but usually tasty.
Poland was my favorite place that I travelled to in Europe. I love the medieval atmosphere especially with the food and architecture. Super underrated country that not many Americans go to.
Personally I feel that recording without consent didn’t really help your case… especially in a place like Poland where people can interpret this as being impolite. Still, I appreciate you documenting your travels and sharing it with us
Aight, sooo I would like to say that when I accidentaly saw one of your videos about your visit in Poland I was a bit afraid, how people are going to treat you. But it was surprise for me, and I'm soooo sooo happy that everyone is smiling at you and they are nice and kind for you. And I want to say thank you, because people from around the world can now see how nice our country is, and that the situation with war is not touching us personally :) Wish u all best bro, take care
I think the service was feeling shy beacuse they didn't know English and also they weren't very happy to be on camera. I think it would have been polite to ask if the team was OK with filming. In busy tourist places sometimes you can wait long for your food, I've once waited for an hour for my meal in a restaurant on Hel and they also did not appologize. So they probably treat like that all their customers: foreigners and Polish. The main problem I see here is that the waiter's role is not only to provide the food but also to make the customer feel welcome. And they didn't even smile at you. They certainly failed it.
Hi André, Thanks for the nice video from my country. Thanks also for the warning against this restaurant and honest feedback, I will definitely not go there when I am passing through. Well done.
polish people are shy when speaking english, especially while being recorded when if you make a mistake it will forever stay on yt and peoplle will make fun of you forever. just a bit of understanding - imagine if someone records your every conversation in polish and make fun of your speaking abilities ;)
hi Andre, I see that you were traveling pretty close to my hometown, sorry for the bad experience in Ustron restaurant but I highly recommend restaurants at the Rownica mountain in Ustron as well, there is Karczma Skibowka or Zbojnicka Chata. If you have more time and you have a car, I recommend you go to town named Koniakow, which is not too far from Ustron and there is Karczma Ochodzita, all are real traditional Polish kitchens with live music on weekends. You will be positively surprised. Regards from Australia. Cheers mate
That yellow things are named kluski the are made like that: You boil the water with potatoes When the potatoes are ready you take them mix them so they are realy Soft and then you add some flour and mix again and then you just roll them with your hands so they look like balls and then you boil them again and done
wife and I spent 20 days in Poland in 2017....went there for a wedding....then traveled around some....the food was great....cheap....as was the 'hotel accomodations....
I don't understand what is wrong with the service? Foreigners are treated like everybody else. The restaurant looks nice and clean and the food looks good too. It's not a fast food restaurant, so you have to wait a little. As I see you had your soup and beer in ten minutes. People usually go to restaurant with friends and family, so they feel time differently. It looks like they made the food freshly, so it's took some time. You should Google the traditional foods what you want to try. The staff was helpful and the Polish people are friendly. Not everybody speaks English and not everybody like to be filmed without permission. If your standards are so high, do your research, prepare better, go to a more expensive restaurant and pay more.
12:28 aha ako sa tvári :) ako po lobotomii. nechcem sa jej smiať ak náhodou trpí mentálnym postihnutím, ale vyzerá to skôr že sa dosť nafetovala a nezvláda ten stav. You can clearly see food isn't anything special enough to wait an hour for a damn thing. As for service noone even gave him menu and he needed to ask waiter to come to him to make order, which is a terrible start especially consiedering fact they don't have that much people to serve, on top of that waitress didn't even give him plate, just putted it wherever on table and ran away. You can't really even call it service can you? It's year 2022 if you want to work as a waitress you need to be prepared that people may film and photograph stuff, if you are shy it's just not a job for you. If you are used to this bad service maybe it's time to find some new restaurant and see how different it is when staff actually pay some attention to customers
In Toruń and some big cities there is Pierogarnia Stary Młyn with traditional baked or cooked pierogi. They are very delicious! Korona in Kłodzko isn't restaurant with traditional Polish food, but food is very, very delicious and cheap if you buy a set for 2 people (for 2 people it's very much food, I couldn't eat it all with my parents).
Long waiting times may be caused by an incomplete crew of chefs. It's about maximizing profits at the expense of customers' time. The reduced number of customers in restaurants after the pandemic has magnified such situations. Probably normal waiting time is 25-30 minutes.
In Ustron i recomend Sielanka restaurant outside the center .by Rownica mointain behind You there is nice restaurant . The beer in Beskidy only from Cieszyn Castle brewery
sometimes you can find bad restaurants the same dishes and they taste different than you eat elsewhere, look for good restaurants recommended and well rated in Poland and then you can check how good food tastes in a good place
If you decide to come to Hungary again, I'd recommend a small villiage ~60 km south from Budapest called Tass. There's a great little restaurant on the side of the Danube called Pákász. Their food is godlike. If they're still open that is. Been a while since I've been there. But according to google they're still open 12-20
Of course is safe. I lived in UK for 10 hand now I live in USA from 2006 and Poland is so, so much safer for everyone, for man and woman, for kids and for old men. Especially in the cities, Polish cities are one of the safest in the world. I know because I visited so many countries all the world.
Traditional Polish food is not spice heavy, it's a hearty food that was meant to feed and provide sustenance for the old world which was a tough way of life did not have the access to the variety of spices that we are now all used to. You will find more flavors in the new age restaurants. Unfortunate that the service was sub par as we're known for our hospitality.
Mate you've got to dodge these generic lager beers and try the craft IPAs in Poland, there are more decent ones to choose from here than even back in the UK! There are micro-breweries everywhere. Firstly, it is not a wild animal fur but domestic cattle fur. I know you may feel being ignored by waitress but this might not be necessarily as you consider. Polish teens from small towns and villages are usually shy. They are not used to speak English and deal with foreign tourists. They are afraid of conversation in English.
I am American & of Polish descent. My ancestors who came to the U.S. came during a poor time period, before WWI, so their recipes were very limited. I can make pierogies, kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, but never saw what you were eating. To be honest, it didn't look all that good. The waiting would have ticked me off & it just seemed like you got caught n a "tourist trap"!!! I'm sorry it wasn't better. I don't think I would have enjoyed it either. I would have felt disappointed. If you're ever in the U.S., stop by & I'll cook you some really good, simple, but tasty, traditionally Polish food!!! LOL!!! 😊😊 I just discovered your channel & have really enjoyed 2 of your videos. Looking forward to watching more!!!
Hello Andre! Loved your video. I am sorry you had to experience this kind of "customer service" but I feel like I want to explain why this girl acted so strange. It was probably because they had many orders and she was stressed and in a hurry. She might have wanted to avoid the conversation to avoid speaking in English. We are still very shy to speak English and it might look very rude sometimes. Still, it shouldn't happen, it's a very bad service. Great lesson for them. 👏

If you want to try a mere polish kitchen, go somwhere away from tourist destination like Ustroń. I can't remember in that place a good destinations, but if you would be near Rybnik or Knurów - then local restaurants like : Protas or Sielanka in Knurów, Bosman in Rybnik, Biały Domek in Czerwionka-Leszczyny in my opinion are good. But I don't know if I could name their food traditional ... More normal.
I personally love that food so much. The red cabbage is great. As a child I hated it, nowadays I love it so much. Here in Hungary we love the red cabbage as well. The girl must have not liked it to be filmed. A lot of people these days hate to be in the camera they try to void it and because they do not know English they will not tell you just show you they do not appreciate this. :) I had similar situation with me and my Polish friends in Czech Republic. They simply did not give me anything because we spoke Polish. I could not understand why they did that to us. So we had to go to another place to eat and have something for a drink.
Whenever I take my Hungarian friends to Poland, my mother lives in nearby Istebna, and they love the Polish food so much, they appreciate is so much that they always ask me to go to my mothers again. The problem is I did not eat the second course with you. It looked good but who knows how it tasted.

Man, the service was not bad at all...that girl was just shy. She clearly didn't want to be recorded. Not everybody loves being on youtube, you know..? She just shied away from the camera, which is completely understandable. As for the rest, there was nothing wrong or absurd.
Yeah there is nothing wrong with the service waiting for 1 hour to get such an ordinary dish on the edge of the table . Really??? Lmao He got his order almost after everyone left the restaurant This behavior is called racist and I call your response ignorance
I dated a lady from Krakow for a few years. A well-kept secret for finding good food in rural areas is the police station. Many have canteens in them that are open to the employees AND the general public. The ones she took me to had kitchens that were staffed by 6 - 10 sturdy women who could only bring the thought "grandma" to mind. Some of the best food I've ever had in my LIFE...!!
11:53 when I was in one pub which I love it is called Buffalo in Kazincbarcika, Hungary. Once, only once I waited for my second course for 40 minutes since I had finished the first course. They told me just after some 25 minutes that the dis did not succeed and they had to make another one. That was the reason for such a long waiting. :) Not I am laughing at the situation. :)
I really enjoyed to watch you man. But to me honest if you want to rly taste polish food or visit something rly interesting you have to find so people to show you. But we have a lot of polish food better then this what you get. Hopfly you find a good quality food at Poland. Enjoy man

There are actually 2 restaurants, one is Zbójnicka Chata which is OK but the great one is called Dwór Skibowki - it has a GREAT view from the mountain and great food.
We ordered a full course (korytko) meant for 4 people - and we couldn't finish it in 6 people. :D
I come from Ustroń, but i live in Krakow now
Dzień dobry. Miło mi iż zwiedzasz mój piękny kraj.
Curi,, I really like your videos:) ,, every time you say polish, I take a shot:)
The second waiteres was just super shy I think :D
Yes. Don’t forget people don’t like being filmed and put on UA-cam
Possibly. If that is the case, she might thing of other job then waitress. The last time I check, waitress is suppose to comunicate with customers freely. That is like having veterinarian scared of animals.
@@pacechcz normally people do not record waitresses, so what are you talking about... she didn't sign up for being on a video on yt.
Lots of waitresses they dont have good English or in some cases even polish because they immigrated to Poland they dont like to be recorded.
i REALLY like u video :D U are very positive guy :) Greetings from Poznań Poland

Do rolady z kluskami ,najlepsze buraczki zasmażane.
You are very positive person .Have a nice trip.
Shame I’ve only just found your channel. Ustron is my home town, there are several really good restaurants that serve really nice, local food.
One day I will go with my maz.
Still, I appreciate you documenting your travels and sharing it with us
How do you know he was recording without consent?
@@KamilaMorzyblurred faces on film usually insinuate there was no consent given.
I think waiting for the main course you were not hungry having before polish traditional soup.
The potato dish Placki Ziemniaczane it's traditional. You should try it, it's really good.
necessarily with sugar or śmietana on top 😉
i like what you do mate.very brave ❤
Aight, sooo I would like to say that when I accidentaly saw one of your videos about your visit in Poland I was a bit afraid, how people are going to treat you. But it was surprise for me, and I'm soooo sooo happy that everyone is smiling at you and they are nice and kind for you. And I want to say thank you, because people from around the world can now see how nice our country is, and that the situation with war is not touching us personally :)
Wish u all best bro, take care
He is such a nice Guy. Everything is "interesting". I love his giggle, but "dżendobry kury" is the best.
I love the silent cameraman that always films when André is eating.

Hi André,
Thanks for the nice video from my country. Thanks also for the warning against this restaurant and honest feedback, I will definitely not go there when I am passing through. Well done.
Obsługa faktycznie straszna ... wstyd ;(
Welcome to Poland 🤣🤣
polish people are shy when speaking english, especially while being recorded when if you make a mistake it will forever stay on yt and peoplle will make fun of you forever. just a bit of understanding - imagine if someone records your every conversation in polish and make fun of your speaking abilities ;)
It was steamed and apple flavoured cabbage what you ate in Hungary. I hope you enjoyed Hungary much, and you'll come back with good feelings.
😂
Good content my friend. You are genuine and wholesome
kvalita jídla i obsluha otřesná....restaurace jinak moc pěkná
Pri tej obsluhe človeka aj chuť prejde 😁
hi Andre, I see that you were traveling pretty close to my hometown, sorry for the bad experience in Ustron restaurant but I highly recommend restaurants at the Rownica mountain in Ustron as well, there is Karczma Skibowka or Zbojnicka Chata. If you have more time and you have a car, I recommend you go to town named Koniakow, which is not too far from Ustron and there is Karczma Ochodzita, all are real traditional Polish kitchens with live music on weekends. You will be positively surprised. Regards from Australia. Cheers mate
Hi Andre 😁, next time when you will visit some Polish restaurant please try Placki ziemniaczane po węgiersku, krokiety i barszcz czerwony.
Cool, Andre!
You have to visit the Szara Reneta Bistro in Skoczów. The food there is really amazing😊
That yellow things are named kluski the are made like that:
You boil the water with potatoes
When the potatoes are ready you take them mix them so they are realy
Soft and then you add some flour and mix again and then you just roll them with your hands so they look like balls and then you boil them again and done
13:54 they are called Silesian dumplings with a gravy - I love it so much.
marudzil, ze jedzenie nie jest pikantne. Afrykanskie potrawy moga wywolac pozar w kiblu.
wife and I spent 20 days in Poland in 2017....went there for a wedding....then traveled around some....the food was great....cheap....as was the 'hotel accomodations....

What was wrong with the service? That there were none service :D
Go to Jastarnia in Poland and order some fish, they are delicious, order smoked butterfish (wędzona ryba maślana)
Tak. Problem jest powszechny w wielu krajach po pandemii. Brak personelu , nawet pilotów brak. Wiele lotów po prostu znika na lotnisku.
This is a well polished video.

sometimes you can find bad restaurants the same dishes and they taste different than you eat elsewhere, look for good restaurants recommended and well rated in Poland and then you can check how good food tastes in a good place
Poland it’s awesome, it’s not that bad as can be expected. Look at your self and be safe there and have great time.
Unfortunate that the service was sub par as we're known for our hospitality.
soup got sour taste from bread started used as a base for this soup - fermented flour gives amazing and sour taste
Mate you've got to dodge these generic lager beers and try the craft IPAs in Poland, there are more decent ones to choose from here than even back in the UK! There are micro-breweries everywhere. I guess maybe not in the rural area where you are, that's why they gave you Warka haha.
Greetings from Bialystok.

My grandfather was polish, he died when I was very young ,I have family in Poland that I dont even know of and they dont know I exist ,it pleases me to see how nice to polish people are
Firstly, it is not a wild animal fur but domestic cattle fur. I know you may feel being ignored by waitress but this might not be necessarily as you consider. Polish teens from small towns and villages are usually shy. They are not used to speak English and deal with foreign tourists. They are afraid of conversation in English.
Often traditional polish meals are not so good in restaurants unfortunately. The best ones are made in homes by grandmothers ;)
Thats absolutely true!
Try golabki with tomato sauce, nalesniki and bigos,. For dessert paczek and piernik (piernik only in Torun city) Czarnina soup is also interestng, its soup made from duck blood. Unusual taste and important tradicional meaning, you eat this one when you want to marry polish girl and your proposal was declined by her parrents at official lunch, this tradition is dead now. For dessert paczek and piernik (piernik only in Torun city)

Wow...that country looks beautiful cool... connect me to one nice old man

You are kidding, right? Or your expectations of how a proper service should look is somehow altered.

This behavior is called racist and I call your response ignorance
Nothing wrong or absurd? The waiting time was simply unforgivable!
I love that food so much.
Mega sympatyczny i pozytywny czlowiek.
The silesian dumplings are made of patatoes and of patato starch.
