I am glad I was born in an era where I got to see some of Ricky's fights live.
And whine about refs after getting laid out
Different ref would have helped him.
Hes like an 80 year old man telling old tales now. He's managed to turn full grandad in 10 short years.
Sad..just like Sunny from the WWE.
At least he doesn’t blame anyone else for his loss. Respect!
he's blaming the ref🤣
@@quickcrypto3689 He's not really blaiming the ref, just saying that because the ref was a bit harsh, it tilted him. In the end it was still his fault that he let the ref get to him
@@quickcrypto3689 although watching the highlights now, the ref did warn him twice for punching the back of the head
@@Silverwidows The ref wasn't harsh, it's just Hatton was used to breaking the rules that his hometown refs let him get away with. He made a career of holding and hitting, wrestling and head locks which are all illegal. His trainer also tried to ask the ref to allow Ricky to 'do his work' and be liberal with the rules in the pre-fight dressing room. He was simply not used to having the rules properly enforced. The point he got taken away was when he was punching Mayweather whe Floyd's back was turned. It's a big breach of the rules and it's dangerous. It wasn't the first punch at the back of the head either.'
I was a Floyd fan and think Floyd would of beat Hatton with any ref frankly. But joe Cortez that night was nothing short of terrible at the end of the day it’s fight and Hatton wanted to work on the inside and cortez never let him he broke them up the minute they got close the small chance Hatton had was basically gone without his inside work! Hattons not gonna beat mayweather in boxing match at range in the middle of ring plus the point deduction was harsh
Ricky Hatton : Living legend
Honesty from Ricky. Respect.
Hatton was a exciting fighter. A real champion!✊🏾
Will never forget the roar when he lept in with that jab and had Floyd back peddling
Ricky hitman Hatton will always be remembered as a true British legend , BIG LOVE RICKY X🇬🇧🥊
As always a totally honest and true appraisal of his career rather than make excuses. Hats off to Ricky.
THERE'S ONLY ONE RICKY HATTON 🥊🥊
Hatton could pass for 55 years old, Mayweather could pass for 35. Lifestyle matters.
Happy memories watching Ricky fight. The buzz was immense. The rage i felt at the ref while he fought Floyd tho 😡
How many times do we have to hear about the May weather fight, pacqui fight or the Tsyu fight…
Uncle Albert springs to mind every time I hear him talk about it.
DURING THE WAR……..
During the 1939 - 1945 conflict with Germany...
Ricky was a great fighter and not at all cocky. Just a great down to earth guy, which is why he had so many fans. Anyone dissing Ricky should give it a go and see how far they get.
Great video. Awesome great lnterview. Training. Boxing.
Incredible scenes! Would have been a good fight had the ref calmed down
Nope. He never had a chance . Mayweather was always going to beat him at every range.
@@sabra1066 yeah I agree Mayweather would always have won but would have been more competitive if the ref didn’t steal the limelight
@@sabra1066 I think the ref ruined it for Floyd as well
The Ref Definitely was tripping shout outs to Floyd and Ricky
Ricky lost a fight but gained the adoration of the entire boxing world. Love him now. God bless him, from NYC.
Hatton was huge we've never had a fanbase like it since in the UK .he was awesome
If the ref didn't keep pulling them apart everytime Ricky was fighting on the inside it could have been a different result
That check hook is why it wasn't your night. Fun fight though.
Respect to the turnbuckle for taking that heavy shot from Ricky's face
TBE.
I was there Ricky, wouldn't of spent my hard earned on anyone else 🙏
Man I miss them days. What an event that was. Floyd actually mentions this one, as THE one that felt special. Shame , it could have been a much better contest without Floyd's mate Joe Cortez not letting Ricky get near him. Not saying Ricky would have won, but Floyd was Def nervous about Hatton getting too close, so his camp had a word before with Cortez. We could have seen yet another gear come out from Mayweather, having to deal with the inside pressure. Ricky can be proud that he fought three of the greatest fighters of the modern era.
I ridiculed Ricky for years while he was fighting. I even brought race into the card. I'm ashamed of how I behaved. I realize now that I was just jealous because he was where I wanted to be. I chose drugs over Boxing. Now I'm clean I realize I should have been looking in the mirror and ridiculing myself. Ricky was one of my heroes. I was just too jealous to admit it.
Ricky the man
That time I fought Kosta Tszyu..
love this guy
Referee doesn't come in to this, Ricky was stopped fair and square.
Respect Ricky the hitman Hatton 👌🔥
Ref wasn’t to blame. Floyd beat him up on the inside too! They could fight 100 times and Floyd would win 100 times too. Much respect to Ricky but Floyd was levels above him.
Ref was to blame for being so bias and as Ricky himself said here, he lost his head with the referee after the point deduction for hitting to the back of the head, despite Floyd constantly turning his back on Ricky and the punch he got docked the point for missed Floyd anyway and hit the ropes.
Ricky then got annoyed and knew he had to chase the fight and went off too recklessly and then just for good measure, the referee was smiling and having his photo taken with his arm around Floyd after the fight while still in the ring.
Agreed Floyd Mayweather was also the only welterweight of this era that's a truly skilled in fighter and Ricky would of been worked out at a certain point but he was planning on mauling him not in fighting him and the longest time it took Floyd to workout anyone with the correct tactics was Marcus and maybe Ricky could have had a little of that success but I think probably not due to size. Duran vs Floyd would be the greatest fight ever and it's a shame no one in his era had that skill set because as much as people talk up Pac he requires space to punch and can't make his own and the fact is if he could everytime Floyd clinch it would have been at great risk but instead it was at zero and little more than a breather to the ref called break
Shame he couldn't show this honesty after the fight when he got knocked out😂 retrospect is a beautiful thing
He made a joke saying “I slipped” was even better than honesty
@@JamieB237 😂🤡
Love u hat tonight
Ref was against him from the go
Ricky was good but floyd was different class greatest of his generation
Floyd looks young and fresh STILL than the hit man what went wrong
Always said if Ricky had fought at LIGHT WELTERWEIGHT vs Floyd he’d have stood a MUCH better chance of winning. He’d struggled at welterweight and his power wasn’t the same as it was in welterweight. Floyd always fought people when he wanted, how he wanted, where and at the most convenient weight. He’d obviously seen Ricky not be as lethal at welterweight. Such a shame
I was there at the Floyd Hatton fight, best night of my life. I remember the crowd chanting
Oh Ricky Ricky Ricky
he's very Tricky Tricky Tricky
Had Mayweather on the ropes for a few rounds absolute mad night.
was building nicely into a good scrap until the ref ruined it. shame
Never seen anyone get hit with so many right hand leads in my life ! Floyd landed about 20 in the first round ! He totally humiliated Hatton.
Nothing wrong with the referee. He was doing the right thing by making it a clean fight.
Fighting on the inside isnt dirty fighting, its part of the game
Cortez ruined the fight what chance hatton had Cortez r uined
If Ricky fought Floyd 10 times, Floyd would have won 10 times, be it in England, Russia or wherever.
Not with a fair referee
Not many others sit on the same tier as pac man and mayweather
Floyd ranks over pac
Alcohol is one hell of a drug. God speed hitman.
Flights Floyd again 👍
Cortez ruined what could have been a great fight.
Oh please, he got battered, Referee didn't do anything.
Floyd was too good for him, Different level.
Please stop blaming the Referee
He looks like an old woman sat down the cafe with a cup of tea and a scone. Legend.
It's not like Ricky to blame the ref? Haven't heard him mention this before??
In all seriousness It's karma. He could have beat tszyu over the head with a bat in Manchester and the red would have allowed it.
He can't have it both ways. He blames the ref for Floyd, but had the ref done his job in Manchester? He wouldn't have beat Tszyu
Except he did not blame the ref and the clue was when he said that he did not blame the ref.
@@seanscanlon9067 yet he has to bring it up every single time
If he didn't fight so dirty early on in his career he would have been allowed to work. Hitting and holding is what he enjoys
Doesn't matter much anyway, the times they were allowed to work inside, Floyd was also getting the better of the exchanges
Excuses excuses, he got schooled and then got smacked into the ring post by a beauty of a left from Mayweather.
@Tommy Sanchez definitely got sleeped like Wilder🤦🏿😂😂
This was the one that really counted and and it wasn't their night lol
Yeah but let’s not forget he was giving Floyd some serious problems at the start though
@@oscarbuglass4746 no he wasn't floyd was working him from the start
Mayweather Hatton exhibition ?
I wish I can "Turn back Time" like Cher:-)) #RickyFlatten
PS: Rick acting like he lost on points, ref 1 point is irrelevant.
Ricky is being kind to the ref.... He was blatantly paid off... He wouldn't let Ricky get on in the inside.... But allowed Hopkins to get on the inside and cheat against calzaghe...
Ricky knows Cortez was completely against him not for the booing of the national anthem...
Excuses excuses🥱
Watch it again. Floyd beat him up on the inside too. Nothing to do with the ref. Different levels
Would not have made any difference
Same age as mayweather damn take care of yourself man mayweather looks and feels young he looks old and feels old Lmao
Still making excuses… your best round was part of 1 & 2 🤷🏾
He did not rock Floyd 😂
Bloody hell he's let himself go!
Overrated fighter with a good fanbase, and a victim wannabe.
He was cheated. Just like McGregor.
😂
