Had mine for almost 3 years now. Use it mainly for flipping a jig. I’ve also used it for swimbaits on Stripers. To this day, it still runs smooth. Just gave it a few drops of gear oil once, twice a year. That’s it.
I think I'm going to trust this guy's review. I've never seen someone so consistently and effortlessly place his casts, one after the other. I know he flat out knows how to fish.
I see these things EVERYWHERE and have always wondered how well they perform. I would love a few cheap rods as backups that I know I can count on. Good to hear they are quality.
I have been using several different Lew's reels but I'm going back to my Picifun Torrent reels. They cast smoother and longer and they are quiter. Your review reminded me how good the Torrent is.
@@TooFatToHuntOutdoors I have four Torrent baitcasting reels and I thought the Lew's were the best for me, but the Torrent reel casts farther, is quieter, and smoother than the Lew's reels. Can't beat them for the money.

I just ordered mine. I'm fairly new to baitcaster reels. So far I like them. I started out with a right handed one but I figured since I've been fishing spinner reels since I was a kid why not try a left handed baitcaster. Great video 🙂
I have 2 of those and they are a workhorse of a reel I love them and now they have a Torrent 2 just an upgraded version of the original, so now I have 2 Torrents 1 Torrent 2 and one Phantom and every reel I have gotten from Piscifun have been awesome reels and I also have a 7’6” heavy action Torrent rod and that rod is awesome too

I just ordered a 5.3:1 version. I like cheap stuff that's good, and I've heard nothing but good about these reels. Should be in tomorrow, and the weather should be good for it.

I have always said the best reel is the one you have on your rod so long as it does what you need it to do. Just because a reel is $200 doesn't mean it's the best there is if you can't use it. I learned I don't like those bait casting reels long long ago. I spend too much of my day trying to get rats nests out of the darn things.😂😂👍💯
Alls I can say that I’ve been fishing most of my life! (I’m 48) I’ve had sooooo many brands of baitcasters! I’ve grown to love Garcias. As I’ve aged I’ve started to experiment with various, off brand names, to see if there’s a hidden gem out there for the best bang for the buck! The first “off brand” I tried was Kastking. From the Royal legend, Stealth, and Speed Demon. And, unfortunately I’ve had issues with all 3 models. The Royal legends are horrible for cast control, my legend turned into a grind box, and both of my speed demons anti reverses failed. So, next I decided to give Piscifun a shot! Firstly I bought a couple of Torrents and loved them, then bought a couple of Phantoms, love them, and bought one phantom X that ended up grinding out on me that Piscifun took care of. The Torrent is undoubtably the best bang for the buck out there! Still smooth and casts phenomenally! The way I look at it is that all reels wear out! Many after only a few years of steady use! So, if a reel performs amazing with smoothness, casting, and durability for at LEAST a couple years at the best price point then that’s a winner for me! Without a doubt the Torrent is a winner!
Thanks for the review. I just ordered one and I am waiting for it to be delivered. I need to figure out how to cast like that. With a big swing I can get the bait out there but when I try to flip it out like that I get a backlash every time. I guess it's all in the thumb but I haven't figured it out yet.

You have to dial it in right. Watch a video about it if you don’t know what I mean. You have to adjust the tension knob for each lure and you just set the Brakes to how far you wanna cast pretty much. 0 is the lowest which is where you’ll cast the furthest but also have way more backlashes because since there’s no brakes the spool will just keep spinning if you don’t thumb it properly, and vice versa for the highest number on your brakes dial. 20 won’t be able to cast near as far but it’ll also be almost impossible to back lash

Good deal!..it just takes time to learn...keep your brakes around 6, and you cast control set to where your lureslowly drops...start with east side casts, and don't worry about accuracy...slowly advance....make sure you add some oil to the port on the torrent reel too...
Sometimes lighter line will snap...when fishing heavy cover like pads, timber...its nice to have that heavy line to get them out...plus you might have 40 pounds of moss come in with the fish!...thanks man!

I have one of these. What little use I've put it through, I would tend to agree. However, I believe most of these reels (Piscifun, KastKing, Abu Garcia Black Max, etc.) will do fine in freshwater use. The "reel test" will be how will they stand up to salt water use with moderate care (good rinsing after each use). They survive two years of this use and they'll really have something.
I have one of these rods, just the rod itself i had an abu garcia black max reel that i paired with it . The accent colors match and it looks pretty slick . But for the price i really like the rod ive had it for about 6 months and paired with the black max reel its a pretty sweet setup i can throw some really light gear and get some nice distance. I also like how balanced it feels and its pretty sensitive its easy to feel the bite and also feel what your lure is doing in the water . I plan on getting another black max reel and another torrent rod so i can have an extra setup and keep it rigged differently. How would you say the picifun reel compares to the abu garcia black max . I really like thoes reels for the price . But the torrent is 20 dollars cheaper and im always down to save some cash . Would you say the two are comparable.
Nice video do all Piscifun reels when ordered and upon arrival do they all need to be oiled/ greased that’s all I hear you have to oil them before use ? 🤷♂️

I have a 7” medium ugly stik casting rod. Will the torrent pair up nice with that rod? I’m a beginner but I’m partial to ugly stik so I’d like to keep using it. Heard a lot of good things about the torrent.
Recently got one. I was very happy with it but unfortunately I quickly started having some problems with it. It was stopping itself, squealing, noisy and wouldn’t cast well. This could have been my fault. I’ve had it for a week now, its cool but got some problems. Maybe I got a lemon?
Did you add oil in the oil port?..there is a large screw on the reel, take it out, add a few drops of reel oil...they come empty...that should take care of it...thanks for watching!

@@skii_two idk what your supposed to use but I use the leftover settled (clean) engine oil in the bottles, and leftover marine grease in the tube for the boat trailer 🤣👍
do you think this reel would complement a 8' light action Kokanee rod calling for 4-8 lb mono and tossing between 1/8oz (3.5g) -- 3/4oz (21g)? I need a solid baitcasting reel for this unit but I'm not sure if the torrent is too large for it. Please advise. Thank you.
I keep it on my buzzbait rod...fluorocarbon sinks, and with fishing a topwater bait, that's not really ideal...plus I fish it in some really heavy cover and I like the braid..thanks man!

Been using the same reel on my hard swimbait rod a dobbins fury throwing bigger glide baits in the 1-2oz range have never had a problem with it

They feel different. The torrent has a bigger handle, but it's just as good of a reel, if not better.

No, it does not...but honestly, if you get it set right, it's smooth and doesn't backlash

The rod here is a Falcon 7 foot medium heavy moderate fast...i love it for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits...otherwise I would go with a Dobyns..

do you think this reel would complement a 8' light action Kokanee rod calling for 4-8 lb mono and tossing between 1/8oz (3.5g) -- 3/4oz (21g)? I need a solid baitcasting reel for this unit but I'm not sure if the torrent is too large for it. Please advise. Thank you.
You should be ok with this reel...I don't go much lighter than 1/4 with it, but I'm sure it will toss lighter baits around...

Why not just use fluorocarbon year round? Just curious?
I keep it on my buzzbait rod...fluorocarbon sinks, and with fishing a topwater bait, that's not really ideal...plus I fish it in some really heavy cover and I like the braid..thanks man!

Did you take apart the reel and grease it or have you only put oil into hole?
I take all my reels apart in the winter and clean them...but with I add oil to the port hole on this reel a couple times per year
@@TooFatToHuntOutdoors mainly im wondering about the initial use. I just opened up this reel out of the box and would like to start off its life with proper care. Should I take it apart and grease it or am I good to just drip a few drops into the port?
