When I was in my twenties Tags were a very big deal. I was buying a condo and the real estate woman was wearing one and I was so impressed. Years later, when I could afford to buy a good watch, Tag was not even a thought. It is nice to see them going back to their roots.
What a fantastic video, I love hearing the history side of any business and Heuer’s is so rich and interesting. Lovely watches too and the Carrera is the pick for me. 👌
Opening the dial up to the bezel was a brilliant move! It gives the Carrera Chronograph a refreshed and modern look without losing its design language. I would definitely go for the blue dial version.
Great video and I completely agree that these models would be so much cooler if just branded Heuer which is also what makes the 60th Anniversary Edition so cool.
Super presentation, very informative and as detailed as always! I really love the look of the new watches and I’m actually very keen to go try these on.
Great review and camera work, WA! Tag Heuer are smashing it! Beautifully executed in every way. Love that the choice is simple: blue or black - either choice you can’t lose. I don’t understand some of the complaints about its thickness. It’s an in-house chronograph with sapphire back with 100m water resistance. It really isn’t that thick at all. I agree with your sentiments on having just the Heuer logo. I’ve nothing against Tag - I’m just a gluten for Heuer heritage!
Loved this review mate. Been in between the blue and black for a few weeks but think the blue swayed it for me, this review helped. Appreciate the video. Cheers. I’ll wear the watch in good faith.
Thanks for your feedback! Please share some more thoughts with us once you have your "Carrera"! Will be my choice as well... will later this year buy me the blue one too...
@@WatchAdvisor picked it up earlier today! Super comfortable on the wrist an elegant yet somewhat contemporary dial. Your video helped, I told the lady in TAG that also 🤣. She says thanks.
I still have my 1st watch . I was new as was the watch. I could have bought the Tri-Compax at Zales with my entire 2 week pay check but Zales Jewelers in New Orleans wanted $95.00 for that one and all I got paid was $75.00 so I bought a Bi-Compax Baylor watch instead. It has a bi-directional friction bezel….a world timer. Baylor was the Zales brand name for Heuer chronographs. I was 15 and sure I would become a pilot one day. Made it to 40, had the mid-life thing and went on to become a SAR Pilot for a Texas squadron of CAP. Funny world. I am looking for my grail as I come into 70. This Heuer is looking goooooood! Great vid! Thanks
Thanks for sharing this wonderful story with us! This is what I like about watches and collecting watches… each of them tells its story… love it! I have a Speedmaster, the first “real” watch I bought for my own money… I look at it and it starts telling me a story… so wonderful… you made my day… greetings from Vienna, where we expect a beautiful summer day…
What a great history lesson and beautiful new Carrera model, perfectly sized.Tag Heuer is second to none with their Chronograph legacy and history.I was wondering if Tag Heuer could somehow launch a separate " Heuer" brand like what Seiko did with Grand Seiko.I think the word "Tag" might give pause to the watch enthusiast collector crowd with Quartz and connected watch connotations.I think they would right up there with Omega and Rolex in the chronograph space.Great video !!
I'd probably prefer it without a date, but the date at noon seamlessly blended into the index is so well done that I can overlook that. Perfect execution. I've been lusting over some of these Carrera limited editions for a few years, but never pulled the trigger. I still think the January released 600 limited run edition is more attractive than this, but I've wanted a reverse panda for a while, and the new movement has swayed me. Rotor wobble/loud winding always creates an impression of cheapness, honestly, and the prices were too high to justify. But this new reverse panda model... I ordered one online a few minutes ago! Now I just have to figure out what watches in my collection I can sell... 😅
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and passion with us! Well done… I will later this year buy the blue one… Please keep us posted and share some more thoughts with us once you have it…
Stunner. Such a great design that Grand Seiko decided to release a look alike lol And to answer your question, the BLUE would def be my choice! It looks great on the hosts wrist so I can see why he wants to add it to his collection. If only I had a bigger watch budget, then I would add the blue 60th Ann Carerra, as well. Oh well, maybe one day…
Fantastic watches - the LE is absolutely stunning, IMO the best chronograph design ever and thoughtfully updated. The new Carrera Refs are great too, my preference is for the black dial. Interesting choice for the date to move to 12, but I think it works. Just. Great to see TH on the comeback. I do prefer 'Heuer,' but if 'TAG Heuer' watches are beautiful, then I'm not too worried - 'TAG' saved the brand and is a legitimate part of their heritage. But maybe not a rebrand to LVMH/TAG/Heuer!
DEAR ALEXANDER, HAPPY NEW YEAR. GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND. I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU AND VERY HAPPY FOR YOU. I HOPE ALL OF YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE. I HOPE YOU HAD THE BEST AND HAPPIEST CHRISTMAS OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. I LOVE YOU. I LOVE MR. ESPARZA AND ALL OF MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS. 🙏 SINCERELY PETER
Yet another step forward for Tag Heuer. The company knows very well how to mix their heritage with modernity and proves once again Tag Heuer haters have no idea what they are talking about. I'll go one further: I'm actually glad these new models are put on the market labeled "Tag Heuer" instead of only "Heuer". After all, without TAG coming to the rescue the company would most likely no longer exist, so Tag is forever an important part of the company's history. Besides, the Tag label perfectly links to the avant garde attitude, which is in my opinion one of the strong points of the brand: instead of just rehashing the design of vintage pieces, Tag Heuer almost always manages to add significant modernity to their models. So, well done Tag Heuer and wear your badge loud and proud!
What heritage? Heuer and Tag Heuer are two different companies. Tag are a joke for a reason, they hugely overprice for bad quartz movements or claim a movement is in-house when they didn't even make the movement at all.
@@garyboyle695 Tag bought Heuer and later LVMH bought Tag Heuer, so no, it's the same company which has changed hands a couple of times. I don't see why just putting "Heuer" on their current watches instead of "Tag Heuer" all of a sudden makes exactly the same watch so much better. And what is "overpriced"? Clearly people are buying those quartz movements in huge numbers. So what do you expect? That Tag Heuer lowers its profit margin just because you and "the watch community" (which is only an insignificant percentage of the market Tag Heuer is aiming at) think they are "overpriced"? Would I buy one of their quartz watches myself? No, because I also think they are way too expensive, but I just don't buy them and I don't think the company is "a joke" or hate them or dismiss all their watches out of hand for it. And that Seiko/in house story is getting rather old now. It's 2023 and the company is moving forward, certainly with their Carrera, Monaco and Autavia ranges. That is what counts for me.
As to the choice between black or blue... that's a really hard one. Best would be to get both 🙂 However, if pressed (or having a lack of funds) I think I would go for the black one. I like blue dials very much, but on this particular black dial I like the fact that the date window does not interfere with the small seconds dial.
The 60th anniversary is 14.7mm thick - the two new glassbox 39mm are 14.2mm thick - 13.6 if you don't count the crystal as that adds significant height without increasing how thick the watch "feels"
Love the black one with 12 o'clock date. But is it really ideal to have the date at 12 on a chronograph? Would have been perfect with panorama date, though ;)
Is it safe to let the chrono hand run continuously all day? How would it effect the power reserve? Would doing so risk wearing down the gears or increasing the chance of damage from being banged around?
Black reverse panda was for me. Different. Have had some great conversations with other watch enthusiasts. Carrera Race history and Carrera watch history. Tag Heuer keep it up.

I have the 42mm blue version of the carrera that came out in 2020. However, I really like the blue 39mm. Just wish it came on a stainless bracelet. Also a little concerned with the lug-to-lug being under 46mm. I've got a pretty flat wrist that does better with longer lug-to-lug distances. Great review!
@WatchAdvisor at 14 minutes 16 seconds of this video. I don't know if it is due to the angle of the watch that created that illusion, or is it really what I saw.
Bought the Blue Carrera (TH20-0) watch. But, it is an incredible blue never seen in other watches……. The watch is truly amazing in accuracy, weight, reserve, comfort, readability and so much more. The history of the Heuer Carrera watches of the past is fully integrated in this watch which no other watch manufacturer can even come slightly close to. The closest historical watch in my view would be the Omega Moon watch which today‘s generation means nothing. Of the 40 Watches I have owned, this watch tops all of them…. Extremely pleased with TH and sincerely wish they maintain this course. They work hard, listen to their critics and the results are phänomenal…. As for TH vs. H…. Don’t really care. I was lucky to get the 🐼 600 limited. I paid 3 months in advance. I absolutely love it and like the anniversary box. It’s my main dress watch vs my Rolexes 😃. I just wished it’s a bit thinner, but it’s still ok.
Tag has made quality and sharp looking cases, faces, bracelets and hands for a while. The issue has been the movements which have been base level ETA/Sellita movements which they have used in the recent past. I think they have been getting better with their newer movements and would like to see them continue to improve in this area. I own an Aquaracer and it’s fit and finish is as good as my Breitling and Omega and it looks nicer. The only issue is that terrible movement.
Im actually interested in owning a 300m aquaracer. The one with 6 oclock date window. Would you advise against it? How good/ bad is the timekeeping of the movement? Thanks for your info. 😊
Fantastic review but the volume need to be 2x higher. The watch MUST be under 14m thick but is close not as bad as wearing a Tudor brick on your wrist. The dial is bad because on this classic watch it shouldn't say Tag on the dial just Heuer Carerra .One of the better reviews I have seen.Again the thickness is a deal breaker for many people.
This watch was looking fantastic, and I love the design. But I haven't seen much information on the thickness, and it's the first time I'm hearing hear that it's 14.7mm. That is a bummer, as it might defeat a lot of the great things on this watch. Similar to Breitling B09, which looked great, but was just too thick.
Great looking watch and really nice video. Regarding the name logo, if the company is drawing from its distant heritage then it would have been more genuine to just call it Heuer instead of Tag Heuer.
Just wondering what your thoughts are about the date window at 12 o’clock on the reverse panda version? Does the chrono hand sitting over the date bother you?
Also agree with only "Heuer" on these historical pieces. At least if Heuer was at the top of the Shield, and Tag at the bottom it would make more sense, and Heuer would be readable. As it sits, TAG is only visible and the Heuer name is unreadable. Also, the strap thickness and deployant clasp is too large and shiny. It should fit and finish much more like the 60th anneversary.....would look more appropriate. Wonderful watch though. I need to get out and find one to try on.
Got out to try the glassboxes and the dato on. Man these are small. I know 39mm is popular, but I was ready to buy till I saw it on my 7 inch wrist. (And the originals are what 36?). Maybe in the future, but not a right now buy.
These are amazing watches. In my opinion there are the best of the three between Rolex and Omega. I have no trouble calling them Tag Heuer because when the company was going to fail Tag came in and saved them. I understand the Nostalgia of calling them Heuer only, but I just don't think it's fair to their company. And I don't think that you were fair in your dealings with the company representative since you put him on the spot. Of course he can't say that he chooses Heuer over Tag Heuer. He might not have a job afterwards.
It’s a pity that LVMH doesn’t have the berries to drop the TAG branding. Frankly, punters in other ‘sales territories ‘ need to get with the programme: ie. TAG is a financial holding company. It’s not a historical brand founded in watch making, technology or engineering or even a supplier of luxury products like LVMH itself. Scrap the TAG altogether and educate your customer base, LVMH !
Well said! Thanks for sharing… Just one thing you still should underestimate meanwhile: in the US (a major sales territory) the brand is widely only known as “TAG”
IT'S FUNNY TAG Heuer has a museum of their watches but they have absolutely nothing to show as a "MUSEUM" worthy. Unlike the OMEGA museum who not only has the first THOUSANDTH of a second and the first MILLIONTH of a second accurate watches, but they also have the almost entirely collection of watches that have been to THE MOON (except for one BULOVA who visited the MOON in 1975), the entire OLYMPICS official watches collection authorized and certified by the INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE since 1932 and the Presidential JFK watch: the one JFK was wearing when he was murdered and time stood still for the first time on our entire planet Earth because of a MAN-MADE-INCIDENT.
Yet you watched this video! LOL I don't watch any videos of anything that doesn't interest me. My time is too valuable to me! BTW, I own four TAG Heuers. Two Grand Carreras, one Carrera and one Link quartz with a mother of pearl dial. Love them all!
Thank you for the review. Despite all the hype TAG still looks 70s to me. Same old racing story. Those old photos. All recycled history. I wish TAG could do better!
I'm totally in love with this machine. It's my favourite chrono so far I've seen. I'd go for the black version. Pity it doesn't exist a cheaper quartz version. Yes it's a blasphemy but after all I like precision and I need a chrono. I don't understand why but it's almost impossible finding a chrono inside 40mm with quartz movement that doesn't have that stupid 24h subdial.
So glad to see Tag getting back to their roots. They knocked it out of the park with these.
They are in fact doing a good job!

Fix the mike volume guys, it's so low.
Thanks for letting us know!
Thanks for sharing, please keep us posted…
Rich Heuer's heritage is the reason why I would never buy a watch with TAG on it's dial.
From time to time they issue one without TAG…
The watch is way to thick, so it doesn't wear wel as a daily.
@@S-A-M.not at all, I own both and the Heure is much slimmer. I mean the 60th anniversary panda. Not sure about the new T20 movement.
Wears great on my wrist. Try it on one day and you will see it wears great.
15mm thick! 😂
We love it T H I C C
I like the black dial but without the word “tag” would be even greater
What moves you to this harsh criticism?

@@NattyKing1 Maybe, yes!
@@WatchAdvisor Definitely 😂😁
Yet you watched this video! LOL
I don't watch any videos of anything that doesn't interest me.
Of course they could better… e.g. by bringing a luxury collection called simply HEUER
I think Longines looks and feel so much premium!!

FFS, 2023 and you guys still can't get audio levels right... annoying

Safe some additional money and go for the real one 😜
