  • In this video I go over the biggest tires on your stock 4Runner or Tacoma. Not only do I go over the biggest tires you can fit, but also the wheels you'll need to pull this off. I hit on both 16" set ups, 17" set ups, and we hit on what offset means and why it's important. This is the ultimate guide top fitting the biggest wheels and tires on your stock 4Runner or Tacoma. Enjoy!

    This video just confirmed my decision on my 2021 Taco off road. Decided to go with a 16x8 -10 offset with 265/75/16. Super worried about the rubbing so also going to level it out. 100% agree, smaller rim, chunky tire! Super helpful info, thanks!

I just got a new Tacoma TRD Off-Road and its currently all stock but I plan on getting rid of the stock wheels/tires and go to some 17"s. Down the road I'll do a suspension lift, and will probably do a block and spacer for now.

      Hey man congrats on the new rig! You can do a 275/70/17, not the 275/75/17 you mentioned. If you're planning on running any moderate to hard trails I would probably dremmel the spots where you're rubbing, but it's not necessary.

  • @oldmanhare

    Just found your channel. Do you have any experience/thoughts on a 255/85/16, aka pizza cutters on a taco to help clear those UCAs and keeping the stock rims. A true 33 but a little narrow. I have a 2 inch lift, Bilstien 6112/5160 combo installed.

    • @squaredawayeveryday
      @squaredawayeveryday  3 роки тому +2

      Personally I would just save up for a wheel with some offset to it, but if funds won't allow for this I get it. I've never had experience with that narrow of a tire, nor have I seen anyone run that set up. With a tire that narrow be sure to check that your stock wheels can hold a bead with a tire that size. Give the guys at BF Goodrich a call to get their thoughts on your sizing.

    For my stock 5th Gen 4Runner TRD Off-road Premium I really want to put on the 175/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks A/T3W. Glad I found your channel, so much good information!
    I just bought a '21 tacoma TRD OR, I plan on doing a 2 inch lift in the future, but right now I want to start with just getting the tires and wheels. Is that smart or should I do it all at once? Also, I was told that a 265/75/r16 would be good for the BFG KO2's. I guess, what im curious about is, will the tires be too big without a lift, or too small once it's lifted. Id like to not have to do a second set of tires a few months down the road. Also, I know you're big on offset so something like -8 should be ok?

    • @squaredawayeveryday
      @squaredawayeveryday  3 роки тому +2

      Hey man, thanks for subbing to the channel! If you're able to swing it, I would suggest doing the lift, wheels, and tires at the same time. I'm a big fan of renovating the kitchen right when you buy the house and enjoying it, as opposed to when you're half way through ownership; this is of course just an example. On that note, a -8 to -12ish offset should be great for you.
      Regarding the 265/75/16, this will definitely fit a stock rig. However if you plan to lift the vehicle by 2 inches the 265/75/16 might leave something to be desired size wise. Hope this helps!

    Great explaination. Appreciate it. I saw a and commented on the sema wheel. And I’m sold on the grey ones because my rig is magnetic grey. You mentioned - offset and the sema wheel is a +4. Does the sema wheel only come in a 17/7 or does it come in a 17/8. ? Will 17/7 work with a 275 17 70 set up with no rubbing? Other wise I’d have to go with a 265. ? Since my truck is a 2x4 I’ll probably never go past a 275 set up even if I do a 3 inch lift which was plan plan once I burned through my first set of tires around the 50k mile mark. Thanks Brad.

    • @squaredawayeveryday
      @squaredawayeveryday  3 роки тому

      Hey man, unfortunately the widest the SEMA wheels goes is just the standard 17x7. With the 17x7 you'll be just fine running the 275/70/17 set up (I'm currently on the same combo). Keep in mind, you'll have some lite rubbing that you may want to remedy by taking a dremmel to the low clearance areas inside the wheel well. I hope this answers your question, let me know if not.

      @@squaredawayeveryday Brad hey buddy quick question. I bought the fx pro wheel from fn wheels. It’s a Sema copy but a gloss matte gunmetal. Really sweet wheel. It’s actually a 17x8 with 0 offset. My truck will have no mud flaps. So could I run 275’s with no rubbing stock suspension? I’d rather have the wider tire than a 265 it would look way better a nicer stance. 265’s are 31.6 in diameter, but you mentioned that the 275 are 32.1. Not much difference there. Thanks Brad.

    • @squaredawayeveryday
      @squaredawayeveryday  3 роки тому

      Hey thanks for the sub. To run anything larger than a 33 you'll need a lift and some off-set. You can probably get a 33 to fit an un-modified vehicle, although if you ever plan to hit bumps, turn the vehicle, or dare I say do both at the same time you'll still need the lift and some additional wheel well space.

  • @mynamefly
    @mynamefly 2 роки тому +2

    Thank you for this video.
    I have a 2020 4Runner Limited.
    I did some research on my on and I came across your video.
    If I understood your explanation correctly:
    275/70/17 tires:
    Diameter: 32.16in
    Section Width (bulge to bulge) 10.83in
    Circumference: 101.03in
    Side Wall Height: 7.58in
    Speedometer difference: -1.70% (with this tire option my car would travel faster than what the speedometer is actually showing).
    Wheel Width Required: 7in to 8.5in
    Wheel Diameter: 17in
    This first option would not require any car body modifications or lift and the tires won’t rub if stock wheel offset and backspace is used (or if offset is a -8) and NO spacers are used.
    Is this accurate?
    Also, 285/70/17 tires won’t fit my car without trimming and body modification, correct?

      You're height is going to be just fine, that tire spec is just under 33". The most important factor for you will be to make sure you find a good off-road alignment tech. Also, not sure what wheel you're running, but a neutral or negative offset of some sort would be preferable. Best of luck man!

      Hey congrats on the new runner! You couldn't ask for a more reliable vehicle. If I were you I would prioritize tires, wheels, and suspension. I'd then move to upgrading your headlights, high beams, and fogs with some type of LED set up. From there a good set of sliders will benefit you greatly if you decide to start hitting harder trails. After all that, the world is your oyster! I'll be posting up a vid this next week on the steps to building an overlanding rig, that video may be helpful as well. Cheers man!

    Best detailed video I've seen!
    I have a stock '21 SR with the ugly silver 16x7 steel wheels. I want to buy 17x8.5 0 offset wheels wrapped in Wildpeaks either 265/65 which are the same height as the stock tires, or 265/70s being about 1" taller. The store seems to think that these will rub due to the 0 offset. Are they correct?

    • @squaredawayeveryday
      @squaredawayeveryday  2 роки тому

      It'll really depends on your alignment tech. I'd prefer to see you get something with a negative offset.

    Hello, I just watched ur video. I was wondering if you can answer my questions. I have a stock 2021 SR Tacoma with no upgrades on suspension. Would I be able to run a Method 17x8.5 (no offset) wheels with 275/70/17 tires? I don’t really do much off-roading but mainly commuting. Would this work with no rubbing. Would u recommend to upgrade my suspension with this set-up? Thanks in advance.

    Never understood why the TRD off road 4runner has a stock 7.5" wheel, but the pro is a 7". I'm keeping my stock wheels (19 TRD off road premuim). I also I bought another set off Craigslist for another choice of tire. Offset is +15mm, but when you calculate the extra .5 in width, it makes a very little difference on how far out they stand. It's actually 4mm, but you get a wider wheel overall

      I have a 21 ORP on order and I’d also like to keep stock wheels. Do you think it’s possible to go with a 34inxh ridge grappler 285/75/17 on stock wheels and have a 12mm offset?

    • @squaredawayeveryday
      @squaredawayeveryday  3 роки тому

      Yeah it's a bummer they're so narrow. Part of that has to do with the TRD race heritage where handling is a top priority.

    I know this is an old video but i am having a hard time finding a 17 " wheel at 8.5" with an offset. Most of the ones i find at 17" with 8.5" have zero offset. Would i be better to go at 9" with a negative offset or 8.5" with 0 offset ?

      No, those are 33" tires (31" is the most you can do stock) and will rub a lot. It probably won't look right either. Remember, bigger isn't always better. -4Runner owner

      That should be a very similar overall size to the 17" set up I mention in this video. Again, you may have some light rubbing at full crank, but in my opinion it's nothing to write home about. Hope that helps!

    i've got 5th gen 4Runner limited with 20 inch wheels. I need to replace my tires now and have been seriously thinking KO2s. Has anyone done it? Ive seen forums where they've upgraded the tires as wide as 275/55 but different brand but i wanted to ask someone or anyone for any advice.

    • @squaredawayeveryday
      @squaredawayeveryday  3 роки тому

      There are few tires sizes you can actually throw on the limited 20's (safely). This is because the factory limited wheels are so narrow, long story short; the K02 does not come in a size that would fit that wheel.

    No need to lift a taco to fit larger tires than 265/75/16 or 265/70/17's . Aftermarket uca's with 3° caster will allow 33's to fit w/o lifting.
