    This pad work has other purposes I have seen with Floyd: it makes him so comfortable at close range that even aggressive fighters are forced to move backwards because they are forced to reevaluate their comfort zone. He also doesn't pause between combinations so in the ring he is in a constant flow which makes him almost impossible to predict. The guy's ego bugs me but it shouldn't take away from the fact that he's an amazing boxer and we should enjoy him while we can.

      I was watching his fight with cotto the other day, cotto thought he was having his way on the ropes and Floyd started teeing off on him

    Lol everybody who says this is useless knows nothing about boxing. Ask any pro boxer to do that type of pad work with that type of speed and with those reflexes. He probably hits pad differently to, and he spars and hits the heavy bag. This helps reflexes, timing,comfort, and strength in the shoulders if you do it as long as he does. He's also flawless for most of the video.. once again most boxers couldn't do that.

    De La Hoya gave him troubles for 6 rounds but everything changed as De La Hoya lacked of juice and jab. Floyd just took advantage of it, but he looked vulnerable to the jab and combos, like any defensive fighter. Combos and jabs are the key.

    They've been doing this together as a family since Floyd could walk.They know each and each others moves so well they don't have to think about it. Repetitive motion memory. It's so well rehearsed they can do it with their eyes closed. I've always been impressed with their pad work together.It's very entertaining. Now if he got in with another trainer like Freddy Roch it would be totally different rhythm for Floyd to adjust to and probably wouldn't be as fun to watch.

    people are bitching because he is choosing his opponents , does it it change he is brilliant? well no he is my fav but he doesnt have an epic fight like pacquiao vs marquez series or ali vs frazer.
    but i still love to watch him :)

  • @youz1uglybish

    anyone with half way decent cardio can do this,cardio is really not the issue at all here.this type of padwork is difficult mentally you have to train your body to react to whatever your opponent is throwing at you.theres your reg everyday padwork where you yell out 1,2 and 1,2,3 and theres long ass pauses inbetween....iv'e tried to do this kind of padwork and was hit repeatedly in the face by the mitts this shit isn't for beginners or even intermediates floyd just makes it look easy!

  • @HalDanGhor
    @HalDanGhor 11 років тому

    Sure, he is one of the best right there, but he could for the least be outboxed by a smart boxer who uses his jab, has stamina for 12 rounds and don't care about who he is facing. That means a guy like Hagler, a guy who fought to win, no matter who was his opponent. Mentally, Ortiz, Mosley, Judah are three guys who would crack under the pressure sooner or later. We knew it before the fight begins. And since Floyd always said that to be the best you gotta beat the best, people ask for big fights.

    What does Mayweather being a self promoter have to do with anything? The point made was that pads are used to build timing, consistency and accuracy. Like it was said, if your going to work on punch power to impress dumbo's like you, then take it to the heavy bag. Who uses padwork as a means of increasing power? So in all due respect bro, learn your shit before you talk trash.
