Same here, the interval SSD shows on disk utility occasionally. So is it in terminal. It works after i replaced a new SSD.
The command "diskutil eraseDisk" works when Disk Utility don't allow erase format from "Mac OS extended" to "APFS"

tried this no luck. whats is does (ssd) it pops up sometimes when booting from external ssd and the OS is fully working. Then I get message your disk(internal) wast not pulled out corret

when going to the ‘terminal’ it doesnt show the ssd 480 gb.. it onlu shows apple partition scheme 1,3 GB. any help??

UPDATE: Guys I fixed my issue, my SSD uses a drive caddy (Sabrient brand) I opened it and reseated it Then I plugged into Windows PC and formatted it now my Mac sees it. I'm sure just reseating it helped good luck ya'll!

Olá amigo, tenho um mac mini 2012 com um hd de 1T e um SSD de 160G. Depois que fiz uma reinstalação do Yosemite o SSD sumiu e parece que se condensou no HD, pois o HD agora o SSD não aparece mais na relação de discos disponíveis e o HD está aparecendo com uma capacidade de 1,16T... nunca tinha visto isso acontecer. Só que o pior é que me parece que o sistema operacional não ficou instalado no SSD e sim no HD, porque o computador ficou bem mais lento parecendo como se não tivesse a SSD. Você pode me dar alguma dica? Obrigado
Olá, muito estranho isso, parece um fusion drive. Nunca vi isso mano. Acho que teria que fazer um por um agora, deixar um só com sistema e outro só pra dados.
Pior que era isso mesmo. Quebrei a cabeça aqui mas consegui separar os discos novamente através do terminal e reinstalei o sistema no ssd que era onde eu queria. Valeu!

And restart, mac opened internet recovery, but only os x mount on disk utility. I didnt see my sdd. And I write diskutil list on terminal. But there is not disk0 on list. Only 10 min ago, my mac was working perfectly. I wanted format my macos. :/

Tentei e não funcionou. Se eu uso o SSD como um drive externo, ele funciona normal. Mas se eu coloco como drive interno, ele não aparece, nem desse jeito aí. E já testei dois adaptadores e ainda não funcionou. Não sei mais o que fazer ☹️

@@xgunwharf6834 yes I did. I did an upgrade to a sumsung evo SSD then clone the HDD drive. I did that before what this guy recommended but little did I know he didn’t mention about everything on the hdd drive would be deleted. But good thing I had a back up. My issue was the SATA cable needed to be replaced after you do a SSD UPGRADE.

GUIDE FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT SEE THE SSD IN THE TERMINAL.
I had the exact same problem, it didn't read my ssd or gave me "firmware not compatible" error and i solved it by following these simple steps, follow them exactly.
Your mac doesn't recognize the SSD for a simple reason, apple has set a block at firmware (software) level so ANY THIRD PARTY SSD is not recognized by the system once you have any operating system (in my case monterey) installed on it.
I for example had a 2015 mac that I wanted to install monterey on. Well, it is NOT possible to do it via bootable stick directly from third party ssd. Because apple does not recognize the firmware. This is the reason why it won't read it to you.
How did I solve this? Simple
You MUST have an ORIGINAL APPLE ssd (any, as long as it is original). At this point install the native operating system of the PC in that ssd via the internet or alternatively if you already have it installed. Once done and configured and turned on the mac, go to settings and simply update from the mac settings. In my case I updated from high sierra to monterey.
Now your mac has installed the operating system firmware (in my case monterey) so i can ONLY NOW THAT IT'S UNLOCKED use a third party ssd with monterey on it (via bootable key).
Last step: now your pc will read the ssd. If you have already installed the operating system on the ssd via the bootable key then it will work fine, wait for the installation.
If you haven't you have to create a bootable stick and put the operating system on your third party ssd. THIS I RECOMMEND ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE ALREADY PUT AN ORIGINAL APPLE SSD AND UNLOCKED THE FIRMWARE OF THE OPERATING SYSTEM YOU WANT
I solved this way after days of flapping, it works great!
