That 1992 MTV Spring Break Special in Miami is LEGENDARY, the best ever. Cypress Hill, Naughty by Nature, Leaders of the New School, Tribe, Busta Rhymes....CLASSIC.
Got it on VHS!!!! Lol
@@reginalwoodson6891 I had it a LONG time ago, but lost it. MTV needs to remaster & release it right away!!
Cypress Hill was the reason I started listening to Hip Hop in late 90s as a Latino living in Canada 🇨🇦
True legends. I'm 41 years old and still jammin Cypress - big salute to these greats.
Naw, Salud to you OG. I'm trailing right behind ya!
Same here homie born in 1980. Cypress Hill blew up when I was in 5th grade. I use tape videos off of Yo MTV Raps

Awesome episode. I also just gotta say....Huge shout out to NORE, EFN, and the whole Drink Champs crew for not being afraid to give us 3, 4, or however many hours of quality content they can every time! Hate when pods hit an hour or two and act like the world is going to end if they go over, no matter how great the convo is flowing.
I agree if and interview is interesting keep it comin strong...😂
Cypress Hill has a crazy extensive family tree. There’s no Alchemist without Cypress
for real. too extensive for the doc
Dj Muggs def deserves his flowers along with the whole group. Can't wait for this. Crazy I was listening to tequila sunrise earlier.
Actually id like to see an episode reserved to dj muggs alone cuz da man worked with alot artist and got dozens of stories
DJ Quik needs to be on Drink Champs next.
My my my how time flies it goes by surprised my mentor passed on and passed on to me……
@@MikeJones-pf4wd : Said this from years ago 💯
Muggs needs an episode alone for the Grandmasters album with GZA
Cypress hill is as authentic as it gets. They're not trying to fit in or be anyone but themselves. Great interview. These guys deserve all of their success
Love when sen dog opens the bag squeezes the bud, smells it, puts it back, and then closes the bag. Lmao
I noticed that also🤔😂🤣
After NWA, Cypress Hill was a go tto for West Coast music for me. Their music opened my mind to other genres of music. Muggz put me on classical music
Check out erik satie if u fw classical
CMW!
Crazy how we were into them hard in DC but didnt gaf about where the music was from...i didnt even consider them "West Coast" they were bigger than that!
Legends in the Game. Cypress Hill are true Latino pioneers, with one of the most underrated producers. DJ MUGGS 🔥🔥🔥
Straight up one of the best Drink Champs interviews I’ve seen. NORE has gotten better at not interrupting the guest mid-sentence and calmed down with the clapping and noise makers. It’s irritating sometimes cuz im listening to this in my headphones and it be loud af lol I noticed him saying im sorry i dont mean to interrupt and that is a huge improvement cuz sometimes the artist is in the middle of something interesting and it distracts the flow of the interview. Busta Rhymes was good at not letting himself get interrupted. Keep up the great work guys i love this podcast 💯
He wasn't drinking so I'm sure that helped..
He was sober off the DRANK!
Nah…here we are a whole year later and NORE is STILL interrupting the guests and breaking up the flow of whatever story or information the guest is sharing. NORE still listens with bated breath and pregnant pauses biting at the bit to be able to jump back in. He’s clearly a textbook narcissist with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder 😏
In South Africa, me n my friends always respected Cypress Hill as the most bad ass Latino hip hop group💯
Muggs deserves his own show. DMC champ. Those classic Soul Assassins albums. All the current stuff he's been doing, MF Doom, Hologram, and Rigz. How he mentored Alchemist. His link to Prodigy... list goes on
Was thinking the same and waiting whole damn interview, lol EFN did give him his props tho, but I'd like to hear it from Muggs. How he started making beats, what equipment he used, who inspired him, what's his process now etc 🤷🏻♂️😏
I really appreciate the whole conversation about how and when Sen felt that he had to leave the group. True brothers before everything!
As an LA native Cypress Hill is part of the reason I love hip hop. There's only two artists that I've seen bring it to the peak of the mountain on stage Cypress Hill & Busta. Salute to Cypress Hill. Great interview!!!
NORE asked “Was SNL in NY at that time?”
Sheesh. I need a podcast.
Brooklyn NY got love for EVERY ONE in the room that you see, and the behind the scenes staff you don't see. OG Cypress Hills Fan (Welcome to the Cypress Hills EXPERIENCE ") Big up from Brooklyn NY
Definitely EFN's favorite episode.. he's never excitedly talked this much and asked this many questions! Shout out to the legendary group Cypress Hill!
About time!!! Salute Drink Champs 🍷🍾
As a young African American kid of the 80's and 90's, I never knew or cared that Cypress Hill was Latino. They were just dope as hell. I didn't find out they were Latino in my 20's. Black Sunday will always be in my top 10 all time albums.
Exactly I didn't care either they was dope AF especially they first two albums
It doesn't matter they are dope
This is my favorite Drink Champs episode. It just felt like a bunch of long time friends kickin back and sharing stories and having fun. Cypress Hill is my all-time favorite rap group period, not just Latino. I actually recorded a song with Sen Dog back in 2006 and had the opportunity to open for B and Sen on a couple of occasions. In one of my conversations with Sen Dog he told me keep rockin and one day you’ll play big festivals too. I went on the do Christian/ Catholic hip-hop and in 2019 my group and I played in front of 650,000 people at the World Youth Day in Panama City, Panama after a vigil given by Pope Francis. Even though I am doing faith based hip-hop Cypress has been my biggest influence and I have nothing but love and respect for the OGs.
That Black Sunday CD was a game changer.
Muggs production was so ILL on that. I was 12 at the time. I would say how and where he come up with that shit? 🤦🏾🔥🔥🔥
Love the fact that dj efn always reps his Cuban side !!! 🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺 big shout out to every race tho wether you Latino or not mad love to everyone n respect ✊🏽
Isn't he just Cuban? I efn was all cuban.
I feel like he reps well for Latinos in general. Love hearing his perspective on everything.

Perfect example of the Hip Hop Era many refer to as the Golden Era 90s...when crews, duos and solo artist all had different styles and sounds. Cypress had there own sound and stood out big time!
And outlived many acts of the time.

Icons... One of the greatest hip hop groups to ever get down.. Still remember late 91 when I was in high school and I got that VHS tape from my cousin, he was excited and he said cuz u gotta see this joint, its crazy.. The video is backwards and their the only ones going forward. I was like for real? He was like man these dudes are the next shit.. The rhymes the beats are incredible. Low and behold when I did watch it I was hooked.. The next wave. I saved up money from my paper round and made sure I copped that tape.. Gotta be one of the most lent out and dubbed tapes I've ever owned lol. Still managed to keep it. Man I remember the tape spreading througthout my school, us being the first to have the tape.. Then a crazy thing happened not only was it the heads listening, but the rock dudes and other dudes were also listening too.. Monumental hip hop classic 👑 👑 👑 👑💯. Game changer 💯... ICONS 👑 👑 💯
