hi! im applying to ucsd for an exchange programme for a year- and I wanna ask/know abt the exam period culture and like having social life. also do u happen to know if exchange students can take business courses at Rady School of Business? because I tried contacting UCEAP and my uni doesn't have info... T^T sorry n thank u in advance!
Hello! Since ucsd is a quarter system school, I’d say you’d feel like exams are happening all the time after week 3 because the midterms don’t stop coming. You’ll typically get two midterms and a final but it all depends on the professor; however, compared to semester system schools, you’ll have a bit less to prepare for each exam! I know some people call ucsd UC socially dead but I feel like it’s really up to you to decide what your social life is gonna be like:) if you actively participate in clubs and orgs you’ll definitely be able to make friends and “have a social life.” Idk much about parties (if you’re into that) but I do occasionally see people looking all dressed up for those on Friday nights? HAHA As for the courses… I would assume that as an exchange student you’d be able to take most courses at ucsd, so I don’t see why you can’t take courses at Rady School of Business! If I understand correctly how ucsd works, Rady is more like a building and department name rather than a separate “school” if that’s what you were worried about. In short, yes you should be able to take the class:) I hope this helped and good luck on your application!
I've never experienced living on campus but I do enjoy living in my apartment in SD! The vibes down here are very chill so it is very enjoyable and it's nice to gain some independence living away from home:)
I was actually born in America but grew up in taiwan!! So ig technically I could be Taiwanese American? But I consider myself more Taiwanese than American:pp
