I can really relate to all of these, I just came back from doing a freshman summer program at UCSD and overall it really showed me what UCSD has to offer and also that UCSD is not socially dead. In truth if you try to be social you'll have fun. Now I'm excited to start this fall quarter.
I love hearing about your positive experience. Ucsd has been my dream school since middle school and I’m getting more and more excited to start in the fall!
your videos are definitely helping me ease my anxiety about going to UCSD this fall :') thank you so much for your informative videos, and im also in sixth college, so GO SIXTH COLLEGE WOOO!!
Hey! Same I just got admitted to UCSD as a Literature in English Major! I couldn’t find any research on that program so this video is perfect! Still wanting to go there
This is so helpful, I'm from the east coast and applied to some UC's on a whim, and got in to UCSD for biochemistry as a transfer and don't know much about the Cali schools (aside from Berkeley). Trying to decide between CUNYs and UCSD 😝 so thank you!
that's interesting that you pointed out ucsd is more in the suburbs and not the city- i was trying to compare and contrast ucsb and ucsd and a lot of people said ucsd is in the big city close to big industries whereas ucsb is more isolated. thank you so much for clarifying & i'm glad to understand that now!
Yeah - I mean, both UCSD and UCSB are not necessarily super super close to big cities. UCSD is in a suburb of a larger city, whereas UCSB takes place in Isla Vista, which is a small college town. It just depends on what you want :)
All your Cons were absolutely right. I graduated from UCSD in 2013 and I miss it so much. But i think looking back I would have gone to a different college.
@@Kyrohnics i feel like unless there's some specific program Davis offers you, SD is wayyyyy better. Davis has a small trendy college town area but it's very small. I used to work there and I didn't even bother applying. I applied to UCSD
i'm currently deciding between neurobio at UCSD vs BU, and one of my biggest concerns was that ucsd is considered "socially dead". definitely feeling less anxious about that now, thanks :)
Zorka Zsembery for me, one reason was that BU is cheaper bexause I have a scholarship there. But other than that, idk even though UCSD is better for my programme, I think the internship opportunities I’ll get in Boston will be better, plus since BU is private, I felt class sizes will be smaller and it’ll be easier to form better relations with professors, something I’ll need for a recommendation letter for grad school. Also I just think Boston is a great city and is in the middle of everything so I’ll always have ample opportunities to go out and have fun too
i’m currently having an existential crisis bcz i got accepted into berkeley and ucsd and idk which to choose 😭😭 ucsd is closer to home and i got accepted into my desired major (international business), but berkeley is a really good school and i feel like i would be better off graduating from there. they’re both the same price for me too, so that’s making me even more indecisive :’(
Just wanted to say thanks for the vids, you helped me decide not to attend UCSD this fall. Not because you painted it in a negative light or anything, it sounds like an amazing school, just not right for me. Thanks for all the info!
I’m soo excited to be attending UCSD in the fall!!! I noticed you mentioned that you are minoring in Entrepreneurship and I kind of want to minor in that too. Can you tell me how it is based on your experience?
How would you describe your experience in how UCSD divides the year quarterly? (I'm used to semesters.) Do you find it more challenging? Do you think you don't get enough vacation? ALSO, HOW ARE THE DORMS!!!!!??
Hi! In terms of the quarter system - it's pretty fast-paced and can get a bit overwhelming. However, if you hate one or more of the classes you're taking, the quarter system is kind of nice because it ends more quickly than a semester. Vacation, I think, is pretty standard and similar to what you'd get at a semester school, but probably more spread out. (I think we also get more three-day weekends?) And the dorms are functional! Not five-star hotel style but if you make an effort to keep it clean it works :)
Lol... Honestly, in my own personal experience, I haven't really had any difficulty with it. In certain parts of campus/Geisel it's harder to connect than others, but in general I've never had lack of Internet connection inhibit me from doing what I want to do
@@RachelASeo hello! i have another question haha, I heard that Sixth College is supposed to move to "North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood" starting the 2020-2021 academic year, do you have anything to say on this?
Hey! I heard there are more internship opportunities at UCSD? However I’m currently indecisive of which school I want to commit to this fall. It’s now between UCSD and ucsb! Do you have any advice? I’m admitted to the ERC college
Hi - congratulations! In terms of internships, it really depends on the industry you're trying to break into. If you're planning on being in STEM, there's a lot of internship opportunities for research, and I have a lot of friends in CS who have been able to get really, really good internships at top-tier companies. UCSD also has a program called the Academic Internship Program, which helps you figure out internships and I think possibly create your own??(I've never done it, but I've heard good things.) However, if you're looking to get more into business, UCSD isn't the best school, because some companies don't really recruit towards us (because we're supposedly more STEM-heavy). That being said, both UCSD and UCSB are big research universities with lots of opportunities, and because there are a lot of resources through the UC system in general, you shouldn't have an issue figuring out what you want if you're willing to work hard for it.
I forget what the specific policy is for pets, but I don't know if you can live with your dog on campus unless you need one for a specific reason. That being said, there are definitely people who walk their pets around campus - there's even a semi-famous "corgi man" who walks his dogs around.

Its so weird to be on the side of knowing I'm going to UCSD when just last year, we were so anxiety prone from apps

Hi, I got admitted as Undeclared to UCSD. Do you know what this means?
Hi, this means that you were admitted without a major - at a certain point during your time at UCSD, you'll have to declare a major.
Can you study abroad at any of the colleges or are there better/worse colleges for study abroad?
I’m soo excited to be attending UCSD in the fall!!! I noticed you mentioned that you are minoring in Entrepreneurship and I kind of want to minor in that too. Can you tell me how it is based on your experience?
Yes! I've taken about three classes for it now, I think, and I'm enjoying it - it's kind of like the business minor but with more flexibility!
commenting so I can come back in 2022 to see if I got in!! fingers crossed
Good luck to both of us
did u?
I want to go so bad but I don’t think my stats are good enough
I’m a junior with a unweighted GPA of a 3.6 and weighted 4.1, do u think I can get in? I’m in varsity lacrosse and I’m in 3 clubs.
Yes

They're building new buildings / giving Sixth a new location...so in my opinion anyone in Sixth next year has it REALLY good lol
I though UCSD was a small school?
It's actually a very big school - 20,000-30,000 students!
Oops wrong school!

I’m going to UCSD to finish my prerequisites for the SDSU nursing program. I’m hoping to transfer to SDSU after I’m done with that
Good idea !
thank you!
I’m applying to UCSD . Visited yesterday, I’m very nervous about applying to the UC Schools since my SAT Scores are low but I have a 3.2 GPA
Matthew Davis what other schools have you applied to?
Susan Zhu SDSU, all the other UCs expect Merced, Cal State Long Beach , Sac State , and Georgia Military
Susan Zhu what schools you applied to ? And are you from San Diego too?
Matthew Davis im from Northern California, but ive applied to sjsu, uc davis, uc Santa Cruz, and Fresno
Susan Zhu I applied to SJSU too and my sister is an alumni there . Good luck to you, I’m going to post a video of me opening my admin letters in March

Hi, what is your opinion on chemical engineering in UCSD??
I don't know much about it, but UCSD is a great school in general for STEM, so there will likely be a good number of opportunities here!
Is UCSD pet-friendly? Have you seen anybody who brings his/her dog to class?
