Really helpful to get a refresher on what is available in MS365 without having access to it. Found this really useful to kick the old noodle into gear about what you can do in the different admin centres
Thanks so much Andy! I really wish I met you years back on UA-cam, it would have made a lot of difference in my journey as a MS Cloud admin. Kindly make more videos on MS 365 from this beginners' stage to advance, if that works for you Once again, thank you for sharing your immense knowledge with us!
I started my Cloud engineering career and trying to improve myself on Microsoft systems and I can sincerely say that it's been such a great video to learn the concept of the 365 admin portal. Also very beneficial to learn the concept of the tools as well. Congrats. I'm looking forward to watch the next videos.
As a recent absolute beginner, finding my way around the portals wasn't too much of an issue. However, trying to decipher which licenses were required so that I could predict costs and work up a budget was far more frustrating. It's all very easy when you already have lots of licenses available.
Loved the description of 3 distinct eras; from IT's "industrial revolution", to mobile, and now cloud. Next steps is also coming. I see something along this; devices will not disappear, but they will morph into more embedded forms. Also fixed ambient IT will be more prevalent, in buildings etc. The fourth era will definitely be interesting to see.
Hi Andy, I just love your UA-cam channels. Thanks so much for putting in so much effort and your personal time making all of this available to individuals such as myself. Your content is always top notch and super, super useful and accurate.
Great content as always, thank you. I'd love to see your thoughts on best practices and considerations around securing M365, ie: an Ultimate Guid to Securing an M365 Environment. For me, the out of the box M365 sharing/collaboration settings are too relaxed and many new customers don't realise what standard users can do by default (ie: create Teams, Sharepoint sites, invite guests, share data externally, etc etc) until its too late. They then have the headache of undoing all this and adjusting global settings in a live environment.
oh thank you for this video it opened my old eyes to o365 and why its so big...so many things klicking in place...you break it down in a human way you can absorb.
wow, and I thought M365 was only Office apps and teams...thanks for this valuable lesson, surely I will keep carry on learning from you! Thanks for sharing this and taking the time to produce this content!
Thank you for the very good tutorial. but All the sections & admin centers you promised to make a separate video on can not be found on your channel. can you please create a card for the video section in this video or you put the video link of each section in this video description if the videos are ready? hope to hear from you soonest. Thanks
Thanks so much for your content. useful as always. I got a question, is there any way to add a cloud-only(AAD) user to an Active Directory distribution list or group?
@@AndyMaloneMVP Thanks for paying attention to your community, maybe I explained myself not that clear... I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I cannot add an Azure Active Directory (Clound only) user as a member of a distribution list on premises(AD), I'm using Azure AD sync. Once again, thanks for the useful content you share with us.
@@Lucareztiger Hmmm okay.. Firstly you won't be able to add them in directly into Exchange as they are external to your organisation. I would export a list of users in Azure to a CSV file. Then you could import them as contacts into Exchange on-prem. Other things to check inc transport rules and filters to ensure nothing is blocked. As I said the best place to post questions like this is the Microsoft tech Community as they will have MVPs who specialise in this area. I wish you good lucj :-) Andy
Hi, great videos on apps I didn't know existed. I just bought a new laptop and migrating everything over. I have been paying for a family 365 account for years and only using it for my outlook, so wasted a lot of money. Im trying to search and figure out what plan I should be on and expected a simple side by side comparison chart on the Microsoft site but could not find anything, then I called and wasted an hour, eventually the representative found a page that was not easily forwarded and is going to try and write out long hand the difference between the family account and the business account. She said she can only help with the business account, the family is a different department. Why so hard? So my question here, can you do a video explaining / comparing plans? Or maybe just a link to a page that shows the up to date Apps available? Also copilot is a subscription, but is on the Edge/Bing homepage. Is it the same Copilot? Thanks.
Yes, I have done a video on Microsoft 365 back up. However, it’s only currently available on a trial basis and it’s costs pretty much double the price of other vendors. So my advice at this stage is to 3rd parties for example Veam software.
I have just installed Microsoft 365 Business Premium . I am using it for myself as my business grows I will add users. Do you have any advice for a single user to start out?
Hello great video. I have 2 questions. I took over a small office running office 365. They currently get their drive mappings on their desktops manually connected. Is their a group police I can create too make mapping easier and contingent on the group(s) they belong too? The second is re-enabling the usb drive on certain devices? Thank you in advance
I cant get my New 365 products to become the defaults ! whaaa? Where is this stuff installed ? It appears to be this new folder feature that is Locked ? same as MSFS. No wonder MS is becoming obsolete or just unendingly frustrating. But I do appreciate the video !
Of course you don’t need to be a developer to be a Microsoft 365 admin or an IT admin for that matter. learn.microsoft.com and probably start with something like MS 900 or a Z 900 or SC 900 These are the basic starter courses for Microsoft 365, Azure and security tracks. You don’t need to do them all just select the track that you think will be most interesting for you. All the training material is online and when you’re ready to go you can book an exam. Good luck and all the best.
@@AndyMaloneMVP great, actually I already have SC900 and AZ900 but my current work and job experiences is focused on Identity and Access Mgmt Administrator.. I'm currently doing a self learning by watching your videos (great help and thank you by the way).. sadly here in my country (the philippines) they are hiring Microsoft 365 Admin with PowerShell automation experience that's why I asked your opinion about this 😭 Also after viewing your videos for me an IAM admin that focuses on Azure A.D. is similar to a MS365 Admin.
Only during the slide presentations. The segments were recorded in PowerPoint and unfortunately I could not change the format, my apologies. However, all the demos were nice and clear I hope. Thanks again.
Regarding making an 0365 Public/Private - what exactly does that mean? Does Public mean that users with a different O365 tenant can join your 0365 group?
Public essentially means that anyone in your company can browse a public group and access resources, whereas private groups can only be accessed by specifically assigned members
@@AndyMaloneMVP change the sound? or send? I'm talking about in M365, the online version....is there an option to "send on behalf of" here? or do you have to be looking at the newly created group/ be in it and be admin to be able to send it?
