    I'm looking at my first wakefoil and want to do both dock starting/pumping as well as carve sharply behind the power and speed of a boat (at different times). Would you reccomend the Axis foil and changing out the mast/wings depending on my preffered use case or the Armstrong foil you recommended as a one foil fits all solution? Or do you have a different opinon entirely? Thanks for making the best foil content out there!

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  2 місяці тому

      If you’re on a budget, go for the axis foil and get both the 1150 and 910 front wings. You’ll have everything you need to enjoy dock start / pump and behind the boat.

    What add-on foil drive to recommend to retrofit my 'wake thief' package?

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  2 місяці тому

      I'd recommend this, with MAX battery (longest duration). If you want to efoil around, go with the 70cm mast. If you want to surf waves / wakes with the prop out of the water, go with the 20cm. I'd also recommend a board that's at least 40L. Will make getting out of the water that much easier. Feel free to email me with more questions (wakethief@icloud.com). tinyurl.com/ma9pwbzm

    Any advice on going from zero to pump foiling?

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  2 місяці тому +3

      This sport is tough to learn. If you’re certain you’ll put in the 10s of hours to learn, I’d get a wing with lots of area and stability in roll and pitch help a lot. I think the beta freefoil is the easiest to learn on because it has a stiff platform in those two directions. But there’s no shortcut. Will take hours of practice. I walk through the process here. ua-cam.com/video/4vWDwz8F2rc/v-deo.htmlsi=a0XcIuistbORzSlz. If you’re not sure it’s for you, target spending about $1000-$2000 and get the a large front wing you can. Happy help if you want some further advice. Wakethief@icloud.com

    Hi what were the pumping times e.g 1minute pump time, of these foils?

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  2 місяці тому +2

      All of these will be 2-5min for me, depending on my fitness. For these setups, I would give the edge to SAB and AXIS, followed by Indiana and Armstrong. It’s too difficult to back to back pump test each of them, as it takes a couple of hours to master the technique of each, and each requires a slightly different technique.

    hello, great comparison, which mast do you recommend with the apf 1675 for dockstart, I have an old v1 72 cm mast. Some riders tell me that it is not good for pumping..but the performance mast is relatively expensive for dockstarting...what do you think? thanks for your return.
    Seb

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  Місяць тому

      I’d recommend performance mast. The original Armstrong carbon mast wasn’t stiff enough for wings >115cm span, in my opinion.

    Have you tried the Sabfoil leviathan 1750? Curious how it comparison to the Beta foil. Same question with the gong Sirius xxl. Thanks

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  19 днів тому

      I was able to pump the 1750 for 8min. Great to launch. The mast flexes which took some getting used to, but if you want to freefoil you’ll have a great experience with the 1750. I haven’t tried Gong.

    • @higliner64
      @higliner64 18 днів тому

      Which mast were you on? I have the 73p without the quick release. Saw some testing that shows the kraken quick release is a flex point. Will see if I can find video. Thanks for your info!

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  18 днів тому

      @higliner64 yes, with the screw attached on the underside of the mast too. I’ve seen data with and without the screw. Stiffer when screw attached.

    I had the opportunity to test the Armstrong vs the leviathan and I must say the leviathan is so much easier and also faster to pump. Especially for beginners. I can’t see any advantages of the Armstrong. Even in your video, it looks a little bit hard when you pump it. Why Is it your favorite?

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for this! Our favorite foil has to do all three well … launch, fly/pump and surf. The 1880 was better at surfing. The 1350 carved well for its size, but not as well as I’d like. I believe the light weight of the 1880 made the difference. I’ve never cared much about weight, but it’s because I’ve never had such a large area foil that was also so light. It lowers the inertia, making it easy to move around with speed. I was surprised. Weight matters. I have been wrong all these years. If all I cared about is dock starting and pumping, I would agree with you. But if I only cared about dock starting and pumping, I would go with a much larger front wing than any tested here. I’d choose the Beta freefoil, which I can pump 10-20km per day. It’s also easier to launch than anything reviewed here. The freefoil, is however, too big to surf! Thanks for the feedback.

      @@WakeThief thank you for that answer. i think i will get the leviathan and keep the armstrong when i improve my technique. i will also get the 1720 i think it comes closer to the free foil and i could start the sub foiling with it.

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  2 місяці тому

      @drbezard personally, I wouldn’t sell one brand for another. I’d get a smaller or bigger wing, as you suggest, to achieve the objective.

    1880 or 1675 , if I’m 67 kg?

    • @WakeThief
      @WakeThief  2 місяці тому

      Great question. If pumping / dock starting is the most important, go 1880. If you will want to carve, ride wakes, etc, go 1675.

    • @OrlovAleksandr
      @OrlovAleksandr 2 місяці тому +1

      I want to pump and they tell me a hundred times with my low weight, 1675 is enough for me and it will be more diverse and 1880 is unnecessary .

      @@OrlovAleksandr I agree , the 1675 is almost as lifty as 1880 and a good rider even at 80 kg would still like the 1675 , for even heavier riders the 1880 is probably necessary unless they are already good foilers.

    Good Day, Hope all is well🤘🏼
    I have a few questions if you do not mind…..
    I saw you weight 190lbs/86kgs. along with your video on the APF1880 being your favorite for 2024.
    I have an order in for one myself but I am under 90kg and I am being told to go to the APF1675. Thoughts?
    I am 82 kg’s or 180 lbs.
    Also, trying to get deep into the sport and would like to utilize the Armstrong brand and acquire three separate front wings.
    I am an expert on water in all the other sports but new to foiling. I cannot link waves but after only four days on water utilizing a Lift 150 surf, 965cm2 and 38 surf I am riding without rope, pumping and carving and so learning very quickly.
    I am wondering your thoughts on Newest technology products to buy and grow with.
    My thought:
    Utilize Behind Boat:
    1.) S1 1850 vs. CF 1600 vs. S1 1550 for me to progress, wife, kids, etc. behind
    Utilize for flat water, lakes:
    2.) HS 1850 vs. APF 1675 vs. 1880 vs. Axis1300…
    Last Advanced Foiling on Waves, SUP, Toe-In & Boat.
    3.) HA 880 to 1080 or CF? Or MA
    Thanks In Advance along with all the videos you have done. Great fluidity in your explanations and footage. Five Stars ⭐️🤘🏼🌅
