Who needs water when you have a playground as diverse as that one ! Those shapes at the end were stunning and good spot for the single post too but that sky wow that sky 🎉🎉
You were absolutely correct, stunningly beautiful sky. I particularly liked the second shot with the post. The textures in the salt flat led your eyes to the horizon and the beautiful sky. Beautiful images as always.
Magic again Izzy! There is always something even if it is not what you wanted! Such a beautiful sunrise, and I like that there is very little in the foreground, perfectly complements the the stunning sunrise. I am especially fond of the 'running man' salt pattern. Simple and elegant. thank you see you next week!
The luck of the desperate I think Ralph 😂 I love seeing your renewed vigour with the Olympus, a sound decision I feel. No more depth of field hiccups hopefully. Have a great weekend 🙏🙏🙏
Cheers Gavin, I have only been past during the day, and yes I was lucky enough to see Nessie too 😂 I'll have to plan a winter journey up there and see what I can create. Have a great weekend 🙏🙏🙏
Breathtaking sunrise Izzy. I'd make the trip for that alone, but the gorgeous textures of the salt plain - or is it lake bed? - kind of stole the show for me: as a baby, my first granddaughter was fascinated with touching different textures like bricks, timber, and stone, so I see textures and think of her at that time.
Cheers M glad you not only enjoyed this episode but also that it sparked some lovely memories. I love the salt patterns but am still yearning for some rain out there... I'm drooling thinking of the reflections 🤣. Have a great weekend ahead 🙏🙏🙏
Well done Iz. As usual you work your magic to conjure beauty out of nothing. And did you know after the Romans had levelled Carthage they played salt into the hinterland to make sure nothing would ever grow. I had no idea they had reached Australia
Cheers buddy, always heartwarming to hear from you. If they had I wish they had straightened the roads a tad, would help with getting to my locations 😂 Have a great weekend Thomas 🙏🙏🙏
I like big landscapes and nice colours, n' stuff, but I love those last couple of pattern shots with that subtle light and beautiful contrast. Channeling your inner Ben Horne? ;) Great results.
You have a catching enthusiasm and marvellous talent Izzy. As a matter of curiosity what is the auxiliary screen you have mounted on your camera? I would be most grateful if you could let me know. So much looking forward to more of your work.
Thank you for watching and commenting Peter. The little screen is a recorder/monitor. It allows me to record what I see through the camera and show you my settings. As my eyesight isn't what it once was it also helps me see a little better 😂 Have a great weekend 🙏🙏🙏
oh.. love this. I think I know where you are.. up north not far from Snowtown?? I have been there only once.. I would love to go back there again. You got the perfect light for this.. that's my fave colours. I didn't get much change to explore the area.. Maybe next time when I go up to visit my mother
Cheers Nik and no its not North its on the Yorke Peninsula (a quick Google of Lake Fowler should see you right) It’s a great area with so many options for a photography adventure, you will love it there! Have a great weekend 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Izzy, great video as usual. Could I ask a couple of questions. I see you are shoot with Spot Metering - do you always do this is? For the close up of the salt flats did you have to focus stack? is the DoF so shallow? I've got the same camera and am still getting to grips with medium format. Best wishes from the UK
Thank you buddy, spot metering yes usually especially if I'm doing a long exposure as sometimes I spot meter the sky and then the foreground. That way I can work out what soft or medium grad is best to equalise the scene. As for focus stacking I often focus stack anyway with the GFX as at any given aperture it will render a shallower DOF. Meaning that at f11 the DOF on the GFX is far smaller than f11 on a Full Frame camera. Here I am zooming in and that just shortens the DOF as well. As I have said before pixels are free so taking two, three or four shots just in case can't really hurt. Phew didn't realise I could write so much in one go 😂 Have a great weekend 🙏🙏🙏
