Omgosh!! I’m only an hour into this course and have already learned so much. I have to understand the “why” and “how” behind things to be able to apply it. You have done an amazing job at doing this. I watched numerous tutorials and some of those basic points, were left unclear. You are giving an excellent foundation which for me, is how I best learn. Thank you for ALL the hard work and time you have put into this course!

Hi Parker - I am super glad that I stumbled into your course on youtube. I'm an amateur/hobby photographer. I learnt so much. Especially the Exposure and Metering part. And of course, your entire course has nuggets of wisdom that I am totally thrilled to learn.
Thank you too for making this course free. Super useful to those of us that cannot afford expensive classes. I can certainly now afford this Thank You fee that I am paying here. (It may show in Indian Ruppes. It is equivalent to about $120). I wouldn't have been able to at the beginning of my career!

My wife and I found your site by accident and we are so happy that we did. I just purchased a Z6III(which is a challenge in and of itself) and gave my wife my D5300. Your class is informative and you make it so easy to understand. We like the "module concept" and the break to practice what we just learned. The segment on histograms is especially informative because up to this point I had no idea of the secrets locked in the histogram. We are continuing our learning and excited about the Exposure Triangle. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into this training.

So I am keeping said camera and got to the point where you said in the video " so...if you've just taken your camera out the box" I genuinely raised my hand. 30 seconds after that moment you dropped a bombshell about pressing button halfway and the camera does the rest. Thank you for this amazing course video. Just one thing, whhen I bought my first dlsr camera (a canon 1100d) back in 2013, It came with a 18-55 mm kit lens. Mostly used for self portraits. (Cosplay that is another hobby of mine)
I've watched many photography yt channels, and many says that the 50 mm lens is amazing, I've been looking into it from time to time but that also costs money.
ever since I was a young teen I've enjoyed taking photos.
I used to borrow my dad's compact camera (the first camera anyone in the family ever owned)
and take photos of everything. And it was oh-happy-day! the day I got my own camera -
(HP compact camera, I don't remember the year) but that's when I truly discovered my passion for photography. I am no photographer, but It is a great hobby, of course I have a dream of selling my own photos ( probably an adhd dream that will never become true😅)

Have just completed your amazing course in one day. Thank you so much. I have one comment though regarding your camera categories. I have a Panasonic TZ 95. This would be I suppose, a compact camera by category. It will fit in a pocket but it’s absolutely nothing like the example in your video which is just point and shoot. The TZ 95 like others in this category has just about all and sometimes more features than a mirrorless camera. To name a few features: control ring with ASPM plus others, so full manual control, two programmable dials, 9 function options all programmable, options for JPEG, JPEP +RAW or Just Raw (inc. in camera RAW processing), exposure compensation, bracketing, in camera HDR etc , I could just keep going on. OK small sensor but still great images providing one doesn’t want to blow them right up. Oh, and 30 times optical zoom plus double that adding in digital. One more major feature is the viewfinder with diopter and this automatically switches to it when eye is raised to it. Also, touch screen and tilting.
This is a definite separate category (total cost under £400 with no further costs other than so card and spare battery), to the point and shoot as you described it. I’m personally getting very keen on photography, witness I just did your course in one day and keep looking at DSLR or Mirrorless. However, so far even though I have tried to, I haven’t convinced myself that for me, just an amateur, that having a DSLR or mirrorless will do anything for my photography that the TZ 95 can’t do. The minimum aperture is f3.3 so if I want to shoot in low light I use my fixed lens f1.7 camera which is brilliant in low light, that is I use my MotoG7 plus phone camera.
The point of this post really is to say that everything in the course applies to my TZ95 other than lenses and will be useful for anyone with a similar camera to mine. So, once again thank you, fantastic course.

As you explain the histogram and exposure (under/over) there's something I think we need to understand... During the discussion of the tree picture you took in Michigan, you asked if the tree was overexposed...
To many new photographers, they wouldn't know and probably assume that the tree looked ok (properly exposed)
My point here is is that one needs to train their eyes in seeing the difference. Using the histogram is a good idea but if you're able to see the difference without the histogram, then you're doing much better than having to fully rely on the histogram.

Hello Mr. Parker I am photographer re-enter in the photographic world after 20 years. Your 4hour video is very useful to learn new things and recollect old technologies. I was a studio owner than and ran my studio about nearly 15 years. I can't continue on that situation. Now I am willing to do freelance. Did you posted any video about this subject or can you suggest some good videos or channels for tha same. And I would like to join your valuable courses. Thank you

I struggled with noticing the noise difference in the photos at the 30 minute mark because I have visual snow meaning in real life I see everything with a lot of noise. So you explaining the iso is very useful for me as I most likely would notice!

Thank you for posting this! It's the first time I've ever watched anything for 4 hrs! I've been watching so many UA-cam tutorials to get started with my DSLR and was stuck where to start when I take the camera out! But you have completely simplified the process to get started shooting on manual mode! Loved several of your other videos too! 🙌

Chris, I don’t know where to begin in thanking you for this course. Your teaching style is clear, your instruction thorough, and your content very complete and up to date. You’ve helped me in so many areas, especially in lighting and the histogram. Your presentation is fantastic and having your daughter, who was beautiful as a child, beautiful as a teen, and beautiful as an adult, shows the warm, family side to you which comes across in your teaching. I plan on going over parts of this in the future and am getting your advanced course. Liked, saved, and subscribed!

Hi Cris, I went trough full course. Apreciate all time u put on this training. Tx to your BUTfull daughter for being the model. I hv two questions for u… 1. Why some of subjects arent strait vertical or horizental? Is it a good composition? 2. In some of Photoes, the main subject is very small in compare to background and entire images frame size? Doesnt it hurts the photo quality?

    • @ParkerPhotographic
      @ParkerPhotographic  2 роки тому

Sorry, I'm not sure what photos you're referring to. There's different types of compositions that will determine where the subject is in the frame. Look up "Minimalism Photography"
