It's okay, You shouldn't have to explain yourself to these people on why you didn't order frosties. They act like just because they like Wendy's frosties that you guys should have ordered them, and they act like it's a sin you didn't. You guys were on your vacation, do what you want and eat what you want, order what you want, not what everyone else things you should order, and call a chicken sandwich a chicken burger if you want to.

So many British-isms. From salad (not a salad) to burger (not a burger) and more. Nuggets without a dipping sauce? My favorite Wendy's order is a Cobb Salad, baked potato and large chilli. Or a Triple baconator add lettuce tomato onion (salad) if I'm feeling glutinous.

"Chicken burger" always triggers me because "hamburger"/"burger" refers to a Hamburg steak sandwich, with a Hamburg steak being ground/minced beef. Therefore, a "chicken burger" should be a Hamburg steak sandwich where the ground beef is replaced with ground chicken. These _do_ exist in grocery stores in the US.
A cheese burger is just that a burger with cheese only. A burger with cheese comes with the veggies. Not to worry, it's an American thing, but I'm glad you enjoyed the Wendy's experience.
The thing about any of these fast food places is that you can find one Popeyes with absolutely awesome food and the next one down the road may have terrible food. It’s got to do with how good the manager is and the people cooking the food. The McDonalds closest to my house is terrible so I travel 10 miles to the next one for awesome food made by caring employees. I tell them all the time how much I appreciate the care they take in making the food.
yeah that’s so true, the Wendy’s near my house is garbage, nothing but hood-rats working there, but the McDonalds right next to it is awesome, open 24 hours, and they stay packed all day & night
The best part of Wendy's burgers, is that they aren't frozen. I know all fast food prices went up a lot in the last few years, but I feel like Wendy's went up more than average. You use to be able to get a double/fries/drink for under $10
When they do order beverages from American chains, they're always surprised at how big they are, so maybe some of them have gotten in the habit of not ordering beverages because they're overpriced for what they get where they're from. The Beesleys know by now how big our beverages are, so that's probably why they ordered just one to share.

I live in what we call MidTown. I walk down one block and there is a Place called, The Cheese Lady, they sell nothing but cheese, further down there is a Subway, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Checkers, KFC, just to name a few. In the other direction less than two blocks away there is a Farmer's Market, where I can purchase some great fresh fruits and veggies, oh yeah and the that's were I get my Food Truck burritos! Best of both worlds and I am grateful for the balance.
If you don't know, the founder, Dave Thomas, named the company after his daughter, who's nickname was Wendy. She is now 62 and a spokesperson for the company. She owns about 30 of the restaurants.

Wendy's is known in the US as never using frozen beef patties. If that's true in the UK too, then your beef and produce is sourced from UK farms. You'll never get the same US flavor at a UK Wendy's.
I used to be an assistant manager at Wendy's. I still love their burgers even after working there. They are always cooked fresh. At least they were when I worked there.

Wendy's always does a great job. Their old fries used to be terrible, possibly the worst in the industry. The new ones are really good, though. They've also improved their chili, which is perfect for dipping those tasty fries into. Next time be sure to get a Frosty. (Also good for dipping fries into!) :)

I like the Wendy's single, "dragged through the garden" with small fries, small Frosty and a small Coke. For a change of pace, especially in winter, I like mixing a small chili into a baked potato. Good food, friendly service and a pleasant dining room.
Wendy’s was my favorite major fast food chain burger growing up, but they changed them in 2011 and dropped to one of my least favorite. I’ve had maybe 5-6 Wendy’s burgers since then, but I still regularly go for their chicken sandwiches (usually the spicy Asagio chicken ranch).
You rarely see cheese on a chicken burger because chicken burgers are so rare. We do have turkey burgers (made with ground turkey), but what you had there was a chicken sandwich.
Indeed they are as they are in some other English speaking countries. I'm an Anglophile and I love how we have differences in our languages like lift/elevator, trainers/sneakers, lorry/truck, etc. However unlike differences in names that we each came up with on our own over time, this one is a little different as if something got lost in the translation.
Baconator is king they have an amazing southwest zedty salad as well. Their chili baked potato is nice as well. Their ghost pepper ranch chicken sandwich is fabulius
Two tripples and a large chocolate frosty is a pretty decent meal. Or if your feeling cheap, 5 jr bacon cheeseburgers. Its definetly not a daily meal, but a nice don't feel like cooking substitute.
Its been a while since I have been to wendy's. But they used to have a baked potato and chili. Get them both and put them together. I like the beer pub cheese burger and chicken.
Love the Pineapple Mango Lemonade. They discontinued two of my favorite flavors. There was a Sunburst Melon one and a Tropical Berry lemonade. Now I just get the Pineapple Mango
Almost all fast food joints in the US have no issue adding in extras if you ask. In fact, there is almost a cult around "hidden" items or customizing items in ways to either save money or to get something really good that wouldn't normally be served.
I agree with you that Dave's Double needs veggies. That is the only reason I don't get it. I usually stick to the basic hamburger which has veggies and my favorite chicken burger with Asiago cheese and bacon. So good

Their hamburger is never frozen, the beef just tastes a bit better as a result.
I prefer Burger King's Whopper cause I like lettuce tomato and onion on my burger plus Burger King is not as expensive as Wendy's where I live😊
I like the Wendy's single, "dragged through the garden" with small fries, small Frosty and a small Coke.
For a change of pace, especially in winter, I like mixing a small chili into a baked potato.
Good food, friendly service and a pleasant dining room.

Wendy’s was my favorite major fast food chain burger growing up, but they changed them in 2011 and dropped to one of my least favorite. I’ve had maybe 5-6 Wendy’s burgers since then, but I still regularly go for their chicken sandwiches (usually the spicy Asagio chicken ranch).

You rarely see cheese on a chicken burger because chicken burgers are so rare. We do have turkey burgers (made with ground turkey), but what you had there was a chicken sandwich.
Chicken sandwiches are called Chicken Burgers in the UK.

Indeed they are as they are in some other English speaking countries. I'm an Anglophile and I love how we have differences in our languages like lift/elevator, trainers/sneakers, lorry/truck, etc. However unlike differences in names that we each came up with on our own over time, this one is a little different as if something got lost in the translation.

Baconator is king they have an amazing southwest zedty salad as well. Their chili baked potato is nice as well. Their ghost pepper ranch chicken sandwich is fabulius
Two tripples and a large chocolate frosty is a pretty decent meal. Or if your feeling cheap, 5 jr bacon cheeseburgers. Its definetly not a daily meal, but a nice don't feel like cooking substitute.
Frosty, baconator and fries. that's all you need.
Its been a while since I have been to wendy's. But they used to have a baked potato and chili. Get them both and put them together.

Love the Pineapple Mango Lemonade. They discontinued two of my favorite flavors. There was a Sunburst Melon one and a Tropical Berry lemonade. Now I just get the Pineapple Mango

Chicken Sandwich = Whole Grilled/Breaded Chicken.
I love Wendys but rarely ever go there as its out of the way. The Frostys are really good 😊

A Baconator, Jr. Bacon Cheese, loaded Baked Potato or Chili and a Frosty represents my Fav's @ Wendy's.
Almost all fast food joints in the US have no issue adding in extras if you ask. In fact, there is almost a cult around "hidden" items or customizing items in ways to either save money or to get something really good that wouldn't normally be served.
I agree with you that Dave's Double needs veggies. That is the only reason I don't get it. I usually stick to the basic hamburger which has veggies and my favorite chicken burger with Asiago cheese and bacon. So good
