Went there in its current state back in 2020 to prep for government check purposes. It took me a minute to realize it used to be Eastland mall. Bummed me out then, bummed me out again seeing this. Back in the day, this was a fun place. They covered the former storefront entrances really well. Enter in, take a right at the fountain, and start down the right hall and there was a place on the left where you could sit in a beanbag chair, wear a "VR" headset, and play 3DO games for a rental fee. There was some kinda toy store around the top, I believe, on the right side. And down below, of course, was the food court, arcade, and theater. Lotta memories there. I'm happy they haven't demolished it and even happier that the tent roof is still there. But man... seeing a place you used to enjoy get melted down into business firm real estate isn't fun.
I work there lol! I rarely enter the mall portion though. It took me far too long to realize the crowd outside of the social security office was not the beauty college students singing Kumbaya every morning 😂. Theres a huge basement under the mall as well. Its considered our storm shelter, its a bit errie mainly due to the size but pretty neat. Got my liscence there too.
It was fun mall back in the day. Garfield's restaurant, shoes stores, Dillard, Mervin's, cool movie theatre and fun arcade and my favorite cheese on a stick
This place is decent. It's good to hear that it's still going as a business centre. I like that they saved this location and saved the fountains. My favourite thing about this place are the ⛲'s. They are so unique with the way they're built and the way they flow.
Theatre was down on the food court. There were posters up for years after it closed. My friend flicka and the marine. There is also a massive basement area under this mall. It's left over from the previous failed attempt at building it.
I got my license here. While waiting for the driving portion I sat on a bench near the south entrance and a larger woman walked by and the whole floor shook. Now not to make fun of anyone but I was actually scared by this happening.
For this video, I drank an Asian yogurt flavoured soft drink. It's not too sweet. I really think it's an interesting combination that actually works, even though it may sound gross to some people.😊
UGH! Now I have to know how they maintain, clean and repair those circus tents at these malls and other places where they are permanent. Goggle time! 🥽
Yes, that's a good question. To me it would seem easier to maintain the place if they didn't have any of those circus tents. It seems like an inconvenience, but maybe it's not.
Another great video,Thanks and Keep em Rolling!
