Some parts of it were all right it was pretty scary at times, but the special forces dude not being prepared for the inevitable time he gets stuck in the zone at night (literally only brought a handgun should've had like an AK and chestrig). And just the overall clichés make it kind of a mid movie. The ending also sucked, but at least it did capture the futility and hopelessness the movie tried to portray. Literally everything that could go wrong went wrong, waow such writing. It was still entertaining to watch but from the moment Special forces dude got mauled by a pack of rabid dogs cause all he brought was one pistol, made me lose hope for the rest of the movie lol.
ALL THE THINGS WRONG WITH THE CHERNOYBL DIARIES : The scene where the Russian guy is talking on his walkie talkie to get help, but later in the movie he admits he works alone yet he was using his walkie talkie ? Also, when they go to get the batteries they have two walkie talkies ,one which was in the car ... 2. When they come back and find the phone, in this video it shows the monsters running away with the two people in the car and shows the road , but if they were running away how did the phone make it's way back to the car?Maybe these are the reasons why it's rated 1 and a half stars .

I agree with you! Aside from a few technical errors re: battery dying yet power for lights worked in van, I think the movie was VERY WELL done and deserved a much higher rating as seen on TWC and Rotten Tomatoes - etc. I give it a 4-1/2 stars out of 5!!!! The suspense and mood was well created and put you right there! :) Yuri was a very good actor that helped set the mood. Recommended watching.
This just serves as a lesson to anyone who is a daredevil........if you are planning on going to visit Pripyat, take precautionary measures and never get cocky, or there is a chance you could get killed by radioactive humanoids/mutants😨😱
honestly one of the better horror movies out there. minus the ending thats lame, it could have been much better. the sheer scenery in this film is naturally frightning and beautiful at the same time. sitting in their broken van at night not being able to look outside made you feel really hopeless for them. near the ending when they were being chased and they went further and further down into these dark unknown hallways while they just witnessed their friends deaths, you could feel their sheer hopelessness and claustrophobia. the acting of being completely hopeless was on point aswell, thats not an easy thing to pull off. people who complain about this film are probably the same people who enjoy the more mainstream horror films made to please the simple minds.
A unique setting -: the disaster site of Chernobyl, with its abandoned buildings & encroaching forests. Adventure seeking tourists get a lot more than they bargained for, & the result is a fast paced horror/thriller. I liked the characters in this one as well. The film worked very well.
They made a goddamn trailer bar and food place for the tourists. Pripyat was the only place I went once in a while to clear my head and put my mind together, away from civilization, now they've made a bar in there, god damn you civilization. Now I'll have to look for another forbidden zone.
I liked a lot of this film. Looks like an "Survival Horror" game, like Rsident Evil. I think the story so original and new, and the locations are perfect for a scary movie. Very good. :-)
I own the movie's BluRay. Found it priced with just 19 pesos (around a dollar, as per summer of 2019) in a convenience store a few years ago. The sad thing is, I don't have a BluRay.
i watched it with my sister and her friend... it looked so good when we started to watch it on netflix and it started soooo good.. and at the end.... they all die? i atleast expected one to get out.

Damn 5 years ago you are so ignorant.
Great movie 🍿
Imagine meeting people frozen in time since 1986.
for years i’ve been looking for the title of this movie i finally found it i liked this movie a lot
Chernobyle is one of my most favorite historic events so this movie was awsome for me
You're fucked up
This movie is far from awesome. Characters and writing was stupid. They were practically running from slow walking mutant patients from radiation.
@@chandima94 By saying he likes it? Good try though.
How’s that a favorite event?
@@T_E_G - I think they're referring to the "favourite event" thing, not their enjoyment of the movie.
the movie is so good but the end is so boring :(
wait they shouldn't be alive for that long since there is so much nuclear waste exposed in that area
Leon there are checkpoints where radiation levels are low I think
Yea but still staying there for a long period of time should give them cancer
You dont die directly of cancer
Matthew Grove yeah true
Leon chance of cancer here is so fuuuuuckin' low, you can be here quite long time without injure
Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl
👍👌
yeah
Life of boris
This just serves as a lesson to anyone
who is a daredevil........if you are planning
on going to visit Pripyat, take precautionary
measures and never get cocky, or there is a
chance you could get killed by radioactive
humanoids/mutants😨😱
@@drkk3614 you don't know..
On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 3.9. Not great, not terrible.
This movie is delusional, take it to the infirmary.
Hold on, where is my homie Anatolij Ďatlov ?
In the toilet.
When someone offers an "extreme " tour of Chernobyl, say up yours and walk away
This movie is worth watching at.
came here after watched HBO miniseries and.. *vomits
I never had so much nausea or anxiety... Untill I watched Chernobyl diaries.
honestly one of the better horror movies out there. minus the ending thats lame, it could have been much better. the sheer scenery in this film is naturally frightning and beautiful at the same time. sitting in their broken van at night not being able to look outside made you feel really hopeless for them. near the ending when they were being chased and they went further and further down into these dark unknown hallways while they just witnessed their friends deaths, you could feel their sheer hopelessness and claustrophobia. the acting of being completely hopeless was on point aswell, thats not an easy thing to pull off. people who complain about this film are probably the same people who enjoy the more mainstream horror films made to please the simple minds.
Could not have been said better
Not zombies or mutants, radioactive people
A unique setting -: the disaster site of Chernobyl, with its abandoned buildings & encroaching forests. Adventure seeking tourists get a lot more than they bargained for, & the result is a fast paced horror/thriller. I liked the characters in this one as well. The film worked very well.
This movie was really great, enjoyed watching it with family. Kinda reminds me if the hills have eyes movie.

This movie reminded me "The Last Of Us", maybe that's why I really enjoyed it! =D
Very good. :-)
I hope the new Chernobyl 2019 actually does a good impression of this place unlike this.
Sorry the mutants and the cliches just killed it.
I love this movie so much and I couldn't find the name for the longest of time
Great movie!
Hell yeah!! Can't wait for this one! A truly great idea for reality horror. They better be monsters.
I own the movie's BluRay. Found it priced with just 19 pesos (around a dollar, as per summer of 2019) in a convenience store a few years ago. The sad thing is, I don't have a BluRay.
is this what jesse is doing with his life now
Fantastic movie

Not great, not terrible
If you like movies like where a group of people get stranded and have to survive against impossible odds, this movie is a good watch. Similiar movies like this is "grave encounters" and "1408". I give this movie a thumbs up.
Grave encounters was a joke
For some reason now I like saying "I have Geiger counter" in a Russian accent
