Learn German Lesson 43 - Talking about your health | krank sein
In Lesson 43 you will learn how to “Talk about your health”.
Being able to explain and talk about your health when you are unwell is one of the most important things you must learn, when in a foreign country, and that is exactly what we will do in this video. In this lesson you will learn how and what to say when you are unwell.
The learning objectives of this lesson are:
• You will learn the names of a few common illnesses or "Krankheiten".
• You will learn how to express yourself when you are ill
• Finally, you will learn how to give someone and advise when they are unwell
Before you begin with this lesson you should have learned the various body parts in German and the best would be to learn them with their articles. You can find this video in the related videos.

• die Krankheit (die Krankheiten) = illness
• Ich bin krank. = I am ill.
• Ich fühle mich nicht wohl. = I am not feeling well.
• Mir geht es nicht gut. = I'm not doing well.
• Mir geht es schlecht. = I'm not doing well. (extreme case)
• die Kopfschmerzen (Pl.) = Headache
• der Kopf + die Schmerzen = die Kopfschmerzen = head + ache = headache
• die Rückenschmerzen (Pl.) = backache
• die Zahnschmerzen (Pl.) = toothache
• Schmerzen = pain
• Bauchschmerzen = stomache ache
• Ohrenschmerzen = earache
• Halsschmerzen = sore throat
• Nackenschmerzen = neck pain
• Ich habe Kopfschmerzen. = I have a headache.
• Ich habe Kopfweh. = I have a headache.
• Mir tut der Kopf weh. = I have a headache.
• Mein Kopf tut mir weh. = I have a headache.

• Trink einen Kaffee! = Drink a coffee!

@@leannacheung8603 actually quite good. Around c1 . I still live here in DE. I started to understand /use the local dialect as well. BUT i will never be as good as in English or my native language, thats for sure.

As far as I understood the sentence can literally be translated in English like this: I have injured my self in/at/on the finger. So all these prepositions [in/on/at (am Finger)] are always dative.

Use of article 'die' is in plural form here because all aches/pains are in plural form (Pl.):
i.e. In German You do not have certain pain (Singular schmerz) ,You can only have pains (Plural schmerzen).

In general we generally see umlout goes to first one but here the case is different.Please answer Monika.
