Thank you for testing these things. You are right, people with OSA (including those already receiving partially - but sadly not completely - effective treatment) are desperate for improvement and it does make us vulnerable to those wanting to profit from misery, even to those with good intentions, and it helps to have expert opinions on options that become available.

I bought one of these and it worked, but it wouldn't stay in my nose. I rigged up a strap to keep it in my nose and it worked great. I found that it wouldn't really push air in, but it made it harder to exhale, which increased the pressure in my throat, and kept my airway open. It works great if you can get it to stay in the nose.

Just a couple thoughts on your testing / commentary (as a longtime OSA patient, I am certainly not defending this product....but I did want to mention a couple things)
    1. Unless you can seal the CPAP devise around the edge, it will not build up pressure to move what you're placing on it, the air will flow around the object (though the feather not even moving is comical, I may have to spend 19USD on it just to see if that is true).
    2. Somewhere you implied that just being inserted into the nostrils will not work. On my BiPAP machine (I have both OSA and Central Apnea) I have a mask that only fits into the nostrils and works fine. The way it was explained to me was that the mouth naturally wants to be closed. Maybe I heard you incorrectly?

    • @VikVeerENTSurgeon
      @VikVeerENTSurgeon  Рік тому

      1. please do spend the cash and let me know if you have any better luck.
      2. what i mean is that without a strap around the head the pressure from CPAP BiPAP etc would just blow out of the nostrils - there is no way it would just stay sitting in the nose.

I was waiting for your call with my phone in front of me from 2pm to 330pm, however I did not realise my poor signal along with the wifi settings of the campus prevented your call from most likely going through via 4g/wifi calling.
I was very much looking forward to your call the past few months and should have probably rescheduled had I known my rotation schedule location would have conflicted. I have written you an email on Mycare as well, hopefully I wouldn't have to wait months before speaking to you again.

Dr. Veer, as of this time and to my knowledge there isn't a successful cure for sleep apnea. Something that would restore the body to its full natural functioning on its own without
the need for a device such as a CPAP machine is what I mean. The surgeries that have been applied to the problem seem not to have been successful and sometimes make things
worse. Is there research into finding a full cure? Maybe people should support through their donations accomplishing this.
It doesn't seem that a full cure for sleep apnea should be a daunting problem for medical science to figure out. The cause of the interruption of the breathing mechanism is fully known.
All the advancements to address the problem have been in the modification of machines.

What a relief that these devices have been professionally and fairly debunked. They’ve had undeniable intense marketing, including pop up ads and “actual” people singing their praises...add cheap copies of the original and it gets worse! My advice after years seeking relief from sleep apnea is to consider tongue or nasal devices as tested on this channel by Dr Veer...as with so many effective medical treatments we’re biologically individual, so It’s worth trying different devices to find one that helps your type of sleep apnea...

You are absolutely right! You are the man! I've been using CPAP Resmed S8 since 5 years with a nasal p10 "mask" which is the same size. You'll never get the same air pressure from any micro-machine as resmed gives you! Probably in year 2100...

I've used a similar product before but it wasn't powered tho. It was uncomfortable and fell out every time I fell asleep.

I experimented with mouth taping to force only nasal breathing during sleep. I am still snoring, as I have an app on my phone that is triggered by noise, to record audio events in my sleep. However.... I experienced a massive difference in the mornings I taped, that did not. The nitric oxide that only comes through nasal breathing makes a profound difference. This is not going to work with a lot of people even with nasal strips, which I also use at night, but as long as it's not allergy season for me, I can breathe fine through my nose. Mouth breathing is in and out too fast, and the flow never gets to your extremities. With nasal breathing, you breath in longer, and exhale longer. I'm pretty sure I do have some form of apnea caused by soft pallet sagging in my sleep, but it doesn't reverberate through the entire house out my mouth now, and keep everyone awake. I also feel less tired during the day, and no longer wake up with pins and needle feeling in my toes from poor circulation.

Was on proper mashine. Takes week or so to get used to mask but even 4-5 hrs a night means alot and equals to 8-10 hrs a sleep without it with snoring. My advice is to buy a mask tht covers mouth and nose rather then just nose as its more sensitive to ur nose only. Also spend lil more and buy automatic rather then manual as it pumps air only when u need it and not pump enourmous pressure soonest u put it on as it can be irritating and harder to fall asleep where automatic will only push small amounts while u stil awake and breathing on “ur own and once u asleep in my case it pumped alot to keep my air regulated.

Was it even on? Cus with the feather you would see at least some of the outlying fibres moving? no movement whatsoever
