You really should look up and check your wing before launching

Hmm. We should be able to feel if the wing is kiting properly, IMHO, through the risers and brakes... on difficult terrain, physically looking at the glider is a luxury of textbooks, and i would rather keep an eye on not falling over! The theta uls has a high air speed, so with low wind i have to run. And for this launch i must look where my feet are stepping, to stay safe. If i looked up to check the glider and then tripped over the rocks, it would be more dangerous! There is a tradeoff... Generally when it's good, I feel it lifting me off the ground with both risers - and if the brake pressure is correct - looking at it is comforting but I want to feel it kiting properly most of all. At that point i want to run and go. It's why i set up so far back from the edge 👍

There shouldn’t be a trade off if you’re launching in difficult terrain. You should do all you can to ensure your own safety 👍

@@scottishsam226ok buddy... I can see both sides of the logic. My sense so far is that all paragliding is tradeoffs, which we either find acceptable or not. Heavy harness vs lightweight for example. Heavy is safer but the light one means you can walk up 2,000ft... Arguably the safest decision is not to fly! But then we are not paragliding
