Morning! 😊 I’m an Interior Designer and think option 1 on the kitchen is definitely the best option. Imagine sitting cozy on that sofa with your morning coffee looking out to the garden. The other option the island blocks the view if you’re sat on the sofa x
We have a dual aspect kitchen with a narrow floor to ceiling window where you have the single door. The kitchen units are laid out like option 2, long run against a wall and island parallel in front of the smaller window. At the other end of the room we have full width sliding doors overlooking the garden we have sofa and dining table for 6. Its an awesome layout and is kind of a hybrid of your two options.
Deffo option 1!! That open, adaptable space in front of the tri-folds will be amazing! Better flow, more potential, a great space for kids to play as well 👀🥰🥳
When watching the telly how are you looking out a window? Yet chatting, having tea, eating you are likely to look outside. Not to mention the kitchen would open directly onto a deck creating an outside dinning area.
Option 1 be nice to sit at the bifolds and watch the world out side in the winter and easy access to the garden/decking in the summer, great vids congratulations on your engagement ❤
When you watch telly how do you look out the door? But sitting at a kitchen counter having tea, chatting, eating you will look outside! Plus the kitchen would service a outside deck/seating area making it better for entertainment!
I am a trained chef . Everyone cooks differently dont always need to wash chicken (can buy cook in bag chicken and they dont need washing) and your cooking skills are good . i can see you are a budding cook and i like that no mac ds or kfc or takeaways you are cooking nice fresh food in the middle of a building site well done finding time to cook let alone healthy like you have been doing . Amazing!!!!!,,,, plus option 1 all day long you can eat while looking out over garden....also an egg is the answer
yeah, here in "white people" land we don't need to wash our chickens because they're clean already. and we don't want to get raw chicken juice in the sink where we clean the dishes we eat off of... 🤣
Classic unchallenged racism against white people 😅 jokes on them like you say it’s not necessary (especially not for prepared birds in the UK), and washing it just spreads raw chicken in the sink.
Option 1 definitely. If the utility room is on the other side of the wall at least all the plumbling and wireing will be close together! Loving the videos btw. Keep up the good work!
Definitely option 1 on the kitchen plan. Having built a similar built it was really nice to have the seating area next to the bifold doors. Being able to sit there in the summer with the doors open is lovely.
Oh and personally would go with option 1. For the reasons people have already said, and also gives a good amount of room for access for larger items you may want to bring in and out the house potentially.
Option 1 is better 😊 Keep in mind kitchen feng shui. A triangle on the units for the oven, sink and fridge is always a solid choice for layout E.g - when boiling potatoes on the stove, you can turn around to the sink Hope this helps Also congratulations! 🎉
Definitely option 1. Feels much more natural to flow through with the units first and then the cosy area. I’m not sure what direction you’re facing but I spent several years trying to cope with the heat and sun coming through the windows straight in my cooking area. Congratulations on your engagement and the work you’re doing on your home. ☺️
Morning, I would go for option 1 on the kitchen then get a huge dining table and once your done invite everyone round who's helped and make them all an amazing dinner then drinks afterwards in the new garden. 😊
Option 1 I think is best especially for entertaining as people look straight onto the garden and in summer makes access much nicer for Barbie etc if you do go for option 2 consider a movable island we had one of those so we could move for party’s etc ,also if you have room a jukebox is a fabulous addition! You guys rock ,well done all your hard work will payoff x
Option 1 so you can eat and look into the garden. Plus if you have a lot of guests you could put a table running off the end of the island and have a big social eating area. Great work both keep it going 👍🏼
I would 100% go for Option 1 for the kitchen! It will look amazing having a big dining table by the bifold doors and in summer you can open it up and eat like inside/outside. The back wall will be darker as it is further from the windows so it’s perfect as a kitchen wall as you can make it look nice with integrated lighting etc. 😊
Hi guys your build is coming on in leaps and bounds. I think option 1 would be the best option because you have a lovely view to the garden. Congratulations on your engagement.
Definitely option 1. Clear to outside to watch any future visitors and family. Hands that do blocks get rough as the blocks they are laying. Udderly cream is the best. Great job guys.
Option 1 feels better. My friend has a very similar extension to yours and their layout is the same as option 1. Having the doors open in the summer whilst sat on the sofa is a nice option. Of course you'll spend a lot of time in the garden in the summer too but as an alternative, especially when it's perhaps too hot to sit outside it is a good option to have. Most people would go for option 1, and if you were to ever sell the property option 1 would appeal more to potential buyers.
Hi both, firstly many congratulations on your engagement, you make a wonderful couple! im loving your videos and your can do attitude. Keep up the great work. We think option 1 is your ideal choice, providing you the perfect spot to relax whilst looking out to the garden with doors open or closed. X
100% option 1, chill/communal area close to the bifolds, especially for when better weather arrives🙌 congrats again on engagement and keep up the good work!💪
Loving the series, we only started doing this in our 50’s. We have almost completed our latest DIY Kitchens install too. Option 1 for me…..and I’ve installed and designed a lot of kitchens. Keep on getting stuck in.
Option 1 for sure- it will be so nice to sit at the table and look at the garden. Fab video as always- I love watching them on Sunday morning with a coffee❤
I’ve just watched the whole of this series so far and what you guys are doing is incredible! I have absolutely no plans to do Major renovations like this myself but honestly watching you do all this work gives me the motivation to get the smaller DIY jobs done in my house! Can’t wait to continue following this series!☺️ also 100% option 1!!
Loving the videos, lovely couple - Deffo Option 1, who wants to walk around an island to walk out of your bifolds - also long shot, is the answer to the riddle a horse?? 😁 Dave
Congratulations on your engagement! Made me cry! ❤ Ignore the unnecessary rudeness! I think option 1 for the kitchen it will really create a nice open space, as option 2 would spoilt the view. Loving watching your videos every week x x
Option 1 for me. Great progress this week even when Harri is a tired boy 😂. Have to say I was shocked at the comment about the chicken but well done yous for calling it out! Keep up the great work ❤
Wow that wall seems to go up so quickly (especially when the film is sped up!) - so satisfying to watch! It seems that you guys are doing most of the brick work yourselves and you're not even professional builders - your can-do attitude is impressive. You work so hard week after week. 6:15 that poor camera! 😂 I'm team option 1 for sure. My kitchen is exactly that layout and it's nice when you have a party and people are gathering at the far end and in the summer you can throw open the bifolds! Also for the record, I don't wash chicken before cooking - there's no need and I've survived 50 odd years! Lastly EGG!
Option 2 is the best for entertaining and productivity. Having a kitchen and dining area in one room is way better for when you have guests over for entertaining. Leave a chill area for different room in the house as the kitchen is often a very noisy area and believe me I’ve made the same mistake in the past.
Option 1. And for that rude person who commented about the chicken, our husbandry is so much better than most countries. We don't have salmonella in our chooks or eggs, so there u are.no need to wash prep'd chicken. Its actually not recommended as it splattereds raw chicken juices all over your sink. And your preference for seasoning is a personal thing. Not everyone needs their taste buds burning off with Chilli or paprika Congratulations on your engagement. 🎉❤
Option 1 for sure...Great work and content as usual, keep pushing on! I'm sure theres a lot that you guys do that doesnt get filmed - just like washing a chicken! Congrats also guys - Harri, if you hadnt asked her soon, I was going to! lol Nicky can lay blocks - keeper for sure!!!!!!
Good Monday morning in New Zealand. Personally myself I would go with option 1 as you will have a beautiful interrupted view from your kitchen out towards your garden with those amazing bi fold doors.
That extension is flyyyying!!! So amazing and inspiring to watch your videos guys!! Well done 🔥🔥 Defo OPTION 1 for the kitchen!! Nicky at 9:25 "to muck or to mug that is the question" 😂
Hello Nicky and Harri. I've been watching your video for the last couple of months and love them all. For the Kitchen layout i would pick number 1. Keep up all the hard work it will pay off in the end
I like option 1 for kitchen but would turn the island so you would sit looking into the kitchen and also give you slightly more space. Love watching you do this… giving me inspiration to do it. WHATADAY -DIY Kitchens
Thanks Gary, that actually sounds like a very interesting idea to turn the island around! Make sure you enter DIY kitchens giveaway on the link in the description- it can’t just be commented on the video! 🥰
Option 1 for sure. I’ve also entered the DIY Kitchen competition… I still have the original 80’s kitchen in my house so could really do with a new one 😂 Thanks so much for the opportunity 🤞
Brilliant progress again this week guys , still amazed at how quickly you've picked up the brick laying skills your gonna be so proud of your achievement at the end . Congrats on your engagement 💍
Loving vids been watching for a bit now mainly because me and my wife are in the process of buying a house which is in the same area. We’ve have taken soo much inspiration from your videos and funny enough DIY kitchen is one of them, so I’ve entered the competition as this would be a massive help to us in the coming months. Thank you for the videos
Morning! 😊 I’m an Interior Designer and think option 1 on the kitchen is definitely the best option. Imagine sitting cozy on that sofa with your morning coffee looking out to the garden. The other option the island blocks the view if you’re sat on the sofa x
This is a very good point Sarah, love some expert advice too!! Thanks for this- that sounds lush🥰
Option 1 looks a lot better
We have a dual aspect kitchen with a narrow floor to ceiling window where you have the single door. The kitchen units are laid out like option 2, long run against a wall and island parallel in front of the smaller window. At the other end of the room we have full width sliding doors overlooking the garden we have sofa and dining table for 6. Its an awesome layout and is kind of a hybrid of your two options.
Option 1 for sure!!! We went the opposite way with our home layout (option2) and regret it so we're changing it!! XxxX
Option 1 looks great, enjoy the view into the garden
100% option 1 be wonderful to sit looking out over your beautiful garden while sat with your tasty sandwich of the day ❤
hehe 🥪🥪🥪
Option 1! Best not to block those beautiful doors with the kitchen, but have that cozy area overlooking the yard/garden 🍃
Deffo option 1!! That open, adaptable space in front of the tri-folds will be amazing! Better flow, more potential, a great space for kids to play as well 👀🥰🥳
Option 1! Feel like your extension/home will be finished before ours and we are 3.5 years in 😅
Entered the competition, how exciting is that!!
I know how you feel i bought a old house and i was like yeah im gonna do this do that 4 years in half way through still got long way to go
@hewoguys2506 “it will be worth it once it’s done” 😭🥲😂
Option 1 for me…… you can look out onto the garden when relaxing rather than looking at your kitchen….
Thanks for this Matt, you’re selling me the dream with option 1 🙀😃
When you watch telly how do you look out the door? But sitting at a kitchen counter having tea, chatting, eating you will look outside! Plus the kitchen would service a outside deck/seating area making it better for entertainment!
I am a trained chef . Amazing!!!!!,,,, plus option 1 all day long you can eat while looking out over garden....also an egg is the answer
100% agree and it’s just impressive cooking in those conditions, Nicky and harry are just so amazing
yeah, here in "white people" land we don't need to wash our chickens because they're clean already. and we don't want to get raw chicken juice in the sink where we clean the dishes we eat off of... 🤣
Thank you very much for the professional viewing on the matter! Thought we were being right dirty buggers for a minute or 2 there!! 😂
Classic unchallenged racism against white people 😅 jokes on them like you say it’s not necessary (especially not for prepared birds in the UK), and washing it just spreads raw chicken in the sink.
@@NickyandHarriit’s way more sanitary to cook it straight away, never wash it unless you’re butchering it yourself I guess 😅
I Love option 1. Traffic flow to your back yard will be so much easier.
The sound of that gets us wayyy too excited! Can’t wait to see that all come together 😬🙏🏼
Architect here: Personally I’d say Option 1, make sure you think about the ‘kitchen work triangle’ when planning the use of the kitchen! 😊
Thanks for sharing!
Option 1 for sure.
Riddle answer(s): An egg but could also be applied to crazy paving, a wild horse, a flare or a bio light strip amongst others.
Option 1 your garden will be lovely the island will spoil the view brilliant work love your energy
Option 1 for me, it keeps the whole space open and more sociable :) love the series, much love
Option 1, dinner table by the doors for al fresco dinners in the summer.
Option 1 all day long. Keep up the good work guys.
Definitely Option One❤
Oh and personally would go with option 1. For the reasons people have already said, and also gives a good amount of room for access for larger items you may want to bring in and out the house potentially.
Option 1 will look amazing, congrats on the engagement too xx🎉🎉
Nicky was spot on with the muck flicking! 😄
Option 1 for sure
Option 1 hands down
Option 1 for me! Looking fantastic everyone! Well done
Option 1 is better 😊
Keep in mind kitchen feng shui. A triangle on the units for the oven, sink and fridge is always a solid choice for layout
E.g - when boiling potatoes on the stove, you can turn around to the sink
Hope this helps
Also congratulations! 🎉
Option 1 for sure! Will connect you better with nature when your sitting on the sofa cozy watching life drift past outside
Thank you very much, a lot of people are keen on option 1!😃
Morning, I would go for option 1 on the kitchen then get a huge dining table and once your done invite everyone round who's helped and make them all an amazing dinner then drinks afterwards in the new garden. 😊
Option 1. You have done loads this week!
I'd go for option 1 itll be amazing.🎉
Congratulations on your engagement 💍 ❤

Look forward every Sunday to watching you guys while on my lunch break. I think option 1 would be lovely xx
Option 1 so you can eat and look into the garden. Plus if you have a lot of guests you could put a table running off the end of the island and have a big social eating area. Great work both keep it going 👍🏼
That’s true! Great idea
Looking really good guys, I think option 1 is definitely the best option for the kitchen. Keep up the good work.
I would 100% go for Option 1 for the kitchen! It will look amazing having a big dining table by the bifold doors and in summer you can open it up and eat like inside/outside. Thanks for this Tori, we’re so excited to bring it all together! 😅🙌🏻
Hi guys your build is coming on in leaps and bounds. I think option 1 would be the best option because you have a lovely view to the garden. Congratulations on your engagement.
Option 1 definitely looks better loving the videos and congratulations 🔥🤙🏻
Option 1 is the best. With the sofa in the ‘space’ you can look out into your garden and with the bi fold doors open it will look smashing!🎉
Definitely option 1. Clear to outside to watch any future visitors and family. Hands that do blocks get rough as the blocks they are laying. Udderly cream is the best. Great job guys.
Definitely option one otherwise you will hinder access to the garden in the summer. Looking so good ❤
I think option 1 spending time on a sofa looking out at the garden sounds lovely

Option 1 😎 easier access to the glass doors and maybe even space for a dining table / to host. Congrats on getting engaged 🥂🍾
Thank you so much ☺️

Nicky at 9:25 "to muck or to mug that is the question" 😂
Option 1

They’re awesome!💙
Option 1 will look best in my view.
Option 1 to allow all that light in the bi-folds and enjoy it in your L-shaped sofa! 👍🏻
Hello Nicky and Harri. I've been watching your video for the last couple of months and love them all. For the Kitchen layout i would pick number 1. Keep up all the hard work it will pay off in the end

Option 1 would be good for socialising and sitting on a comfy sofa with a coffee watching the rain x
oo I love that idea 🥰
I would definitely go for option 1
Option 1 definitely… the other side you can look out into the garden! Going to be an amazing space
