This helped me understand how much work goes into making sure patients get the correct doses of medication needed. I glad that our medical professionals get the proper training needed to insure our safety
This type of conversions for drugs for patients that are in the hospital is very important, given there are times that the wrong weight is used for the wrong patient, or the wrong dose of a cardiac medication is given and now the patient is having a heart attack. Breaking down for IV infusions should also be looked at by a second nurse for safety measures for both the patient and the person who is administering the drugs via an IV access line.
Thank you! I was up in the early morning hours trying to finish a assignment and one particular problem had me stumped until I watched this video!! Awesome! Thank a mill! 😊
This is pretty cool. I will use this! I have a hard time with math myself and in the medical field sometimes they just want it off the top of your head.
I'm currently a nursing student and this formula method should have been taught to us a long time ago this makes it so much easier to understand and do. -Jasmine Chavez
Thank you so much. I'm going back to work after 3 years off and boy do I need a refresher! I like your method. Even though the pumps pretty much do everything for you these days, it's always so helpful to be able to do it on your own. ~ Bonnie
You are a wonderful teacher thank you for posting these vids! I wish the university I attend had a site like this. I have used this formula for a couple of years now and have not missed one calculation, I refresh myself on it once in a while if I haven't used it often. Thank you so much!
I am also is not a math person and if I can find easier ways to solve it i would gladly do so. I really did enjoy watching video, i had to watch it twice to fully grasp the whole equation and how important is it to know how convert units at a nurse because it can actually cost someones 1life. Thank you Jamie Toloa
This is such a great video I found it very explanatory and straight forward I do wish I could see the numbers a little bit better but this is such a great way of explaining dosage.
Thank you loads, That's the best, Never were able to to solve FR. but here comes you and made it so very easy. you re the best of the best. And i am a pharmacist, can you believe that?
The nitroglycerin that we have is 50mg/50ml per vial . If im going to mix that to 500ml d5w, what happend to the 50ml in the vial of nitroglycerine? Do I need to remove 50ml from the d5w before mixing it to nitroglycerine? Otherwise that would make 50ml+ 500ml d5w of 50mg nitroglycerine.
Thank you, you have taught me so much, I asked my teacher how to do a problem like this and she could not tell me. She did not know how to do it. Our class is in trouble. Thanks so very much. May God bless you.
Thank you so much. I needed a refresher but was having trouble finding someone who does it this way. Seems like everyone uses dimensional analysis and that is soooo confusing for me. Thanks!!!
I never thought about it this way but it makes sense and I know that it will help me as well. I added this to my book mark collection so I can go back to this video when I need a second opinion. Samantha Compass-Whittle
My professor didn't teach us ANY formula for IV infusion... she just threw these problems on every test and told us that we will kill patients if we don't "get it"... yet she is not teaching us anything to "GET"!! Jeezzz! Sorry I'm rambling because I'm grateful that at least I have a formula, so next test, I at least know where to start! Thank you madame. ~From New York City.
Sounds like you are going to a school like the one I went to, Ivy Tech in Richmond Indiana, where the majority of the nursing teachers were idiots. I have learned that having a Masters Degree in Nursing doesn't mean a teacher is a rocket scientist. I had one teacher who was a Nurse Practitioner who had trouble converting from pounds to kilograms in order to do a dosage calculation; would I want her dosing for me--NO ! As you have found out, sometimes there is much better instruction on youtube than in the classroom just like this video. Good Luck!
those who can't teach, should teach gym. And you are 100% right. Some of these schools cannot afford an experienced university professor so they settle for anyone with a Master's Degree, even if they cannot make anything understandable for the students. I passed one semester with that woman and I hope to God I never have to see her again. Best of luck to you too hun!
What a good way of converting. I just don't see how you can keep all that in your head. Techie over here so not really planing a career in nursing. But very useful.
I love the fact that there is a real life use for this stuff and that I am not just trying to learn it for no reason.
This helped me understand how much work goes into making sure patients get the correct doses of medication needed. I glad that our medical professionals get the proper training needed to insure our safety
Damn... your pic looks like you just did a line of bath salts and now you tweaking hard. 😂
Every nursing student needs to watch this video! The best
This video is very helpful, my sister is in nursing school and I am going to tell her about this page. Thanks for taking the time to show us!

You are a great teacher! Practical, simple, no-nonsense instruction on complicated formulas = success. Thank you for posting and God Bless You!

I am not going into nursing or anything like that but find it fascinating on how things like this are configured
The amount of math required by nurses certainly makes me grateful for them!
This is pretty cool. I will use this! I have a hard time with math myself and in the medical field sometimes they just want it off the top of your head.

This is similar to what we used to use in class and instead on concentration we always used what was on hand. This was great.
This was really interesting. I have never been able to understand how nurses got conversions but now I do. I can see how it could get confusing.

Thanks! this serves as a recap. I did appreciate
very useful ,good work thank you
Thank you!! So helpful!
