What was on John Lennon's mind when he wrote "DIG A PONY"?

This video discusses The Beatles' "Dig A Pony" a song Lennon claims to be mostly nonsensical words and also, of course, an ode to Yoko Ono.

It's amazing that they could come back and produce the masterpiece Abbey Road after the shambles that these sessions produced. Yes, some good songs and some good moments, but very uneven.
