I still remember watching this documentary on TV, I think it was Discovery Channel, back in the late 90's, early 00's...I never managed to find it again for almost 20 years. Only a couple years ago I found it again. And to see it here, posted by Callaway Cars themselves...is such a joy. Thanks, guys!
If only we could see this in higher resolution. This is one of the best car/art videos I have ever watched. But, being filmed in (what I assume is) VGA just kills it. But hey, what could they do in 2000? 😆 F50 all day. Callaway, winner all day too! But, that 993 Turbo, man, that was my dream car in high school.
It's mind boggling how advanced Callaway was with the C4's. The power they were making off a TPI, while remaining reliable and drievable is simply incredible! And then add in the areo body and there's nothing else like it. People forget how bad the 80's were for muscle/sports cars. And then to knock it out of the park with the C12 after the C5 came out? Unbelievable!!
I drove a ZO6 Z06 with a ligenfelter (that's probably spelled wrong) I did a triple take 1. Oh a Corvette 2. Are those the z06 10 spokes....and a ligenfelter sticker on the door....
Is the full title of this called "Fast Cars. The Power and the Passion"? I remember seeing this ages ago and have been looking for it forever. Thanks for the upload!
You think the channel called Callaway cars would know this? I've also been on this highway and even in a regular car. It's a blast as long as there's no cops around
I wish Callaway would customize any vehicle, if so I could drop off my 1970 Chevy C-10 short bed off at Callaways and sometime later come back and pick up my Callaway C-10.
@@hakrsakr @zaknefain100 actaully the C8-R engine uses a 5.5 L DOHC, flat-plane crank, similar with Ferrari, Lamboghini, etc. - producing the limits of LeMans power, with a very quick, high level power and torque response Won GTLM 2020, their GT class 2021 - new rules this year - competing with three cars, one in each for GT LeMans, IMSA, another GT - am not aware, yet of the standings, though they still perform among the top, winning many. I love how they called that Ferrari driver a performance driver. Dude burnt the shlt out of the clutch on take off. That smoke you see is the clutch lol
I want a racing car on the road. Not as a daily mind you but I'm willing to deal with all the race car stuff like expensive fuel, poor ride quality, constant maintenance (especially on a Chevy). That's the price you pay to drive a race car on the street
@Chemical Spore; as Reeves Callaway intended - The Callaway C4 Corvette is designed, developed to me highly reliable, dependable, enjoyable, powerful, race-able, track-able, drive it to the track and home and for all daily, desired uses. Thus, not only the cheapest, lowest purchase price, including the full modification package, it uses parts for maintenance which commonly available, accessible, with the typical maintenance schedule, increased depending upon the amount of high performance, track use, easy and simple to maintain as any C4, with many of the characteristics a buyer of, with a performance vehicle desires - but not everyone - some are willing to pay for the type of experience with a Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Rimac, GT40, etc. What Reeves Callaway has done with the C4, am very interested to know more about his own developed C7 - perhaps he has gone onto or in the process with a mid-engine -which for my view, perspective, perception is the best. Actually more interested in a Callaway Fiero [if he would do it] than any Corvette C3-C7 - and some advantages compared with a C8 too. What do You think? What is Your view of Your type of best vehicle ? Sincerely

Veyron first to run 250 mph? Uh, no. Reeves Callaway built a Corvette with a twin turbo 350 in 1988 that ran 254 mph. That is verified.
Yep
And the best thing: it went to the track and back, under its own power.
Only different is, the sledgehammer was a one off. Doesnt take away from the engineering, but it was a one off
This video is pure art.
Beartooth highway is a dream drive, fabulous views

Such a great documentary WOW! Hopefully sometime in the future this gets remastered to see its beauty at its full potential. Just epic!
please no do not ruin this with extrapolation
i remember watching this on tv as a kid, i remember jay leno as the commentator tho.
Was it the same name? It used to be on UA-cam but I can’t even find it on google now.
I can't help but think that that Corvette running around the track with no front end on it is one of the most American things I've ever seen

Picked up a c6 callaway corvette Z06 last year. Favourite part of life so far, other than my young lad of course

41:00 that should have been measuring G-forces, brake pedal, and gas pedal along with all the other factors it was measuring
What a awesome video. Why more people ha e not watched this?
Beautful backdrop. Where is this in Europe?

993 Porsche turbo is crazy money nowadays.
The Ferrari F50 (Type F130) is a mid-engine range-topping sports car manufactured by Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari from 1995-1997.
High Stakes and Porsche Unleashed flashbacks.
I wish Callaway would customize any vehicle, if so I could drop off my 1970 Chevy C-10 short bed off at Callaways and sometime later come back and pick up my Callaway C-10.
RIP Reeves callaway.
254.76 mph for sledgehammer
Look at how far apart Ferrari and GM were at this time. Ferrari with F1 engines in their cars and GM... With a single cam pushrod lmao
Chevrolet has done extremely well with pushrod engines though. Almost 20 years of GT-class road race dominance.. and counting.
@@zaknefain100 I love my LS6 Camaro
GM still using single cam pushrods and still kicking ass... in the v8 engines. Not quite up to par otherwise.

Corvette would be the cheapest to maintain.

37:03 haha bullshit. no road car even today has that much downforce :D
America: check
Germany: check
Italy: check
Japan: ...wtf? No NSX, Supra, Skyline, or Rx-7? Am I a joke to you?
well apart from the Skyline with a lot of mods, the other two don't really stack up against these cars.
Some of those cars are slow as fuck
The 1995 NSX made 270hp. I love the NSX, but this is a super car fight.
Al Roker 🤣
Ferrari wanted the f50 to be faster and more beautiful then model before? Well they failed at that cause the f40 is way better
