Every time this song came on, while my son was deployed, it ripped my heart out. My now ex daughter-in-law, told me, “how do you think I feel? He’s your son, but he’s MY husband“. Coming from an all military family, and growing up on military bases, this lifestyle of having to separate and move every 3 to 4 years was not new. So I had to tell her, “when that baby in your stomach that you will carry for nine months is born, you tell me who you would rather send off to war. Your baby or your husband. I can tell you my husband would be sent every single time”.

I will never forget the one I got from my dad. One of the only times in my life I remember crying in front other men. 20 years later I still have that letter.

Never underestimate how much saying you’re proud of your child could mean to them, right? Also, people in the military thrive on those care packages from friends and family. I always tried to do that for my military friends. A way to keep them connected and give them something to look forward to and a will to come home safely.

I can't understate how much those letters and boxes mean to those of us in the military when we're away from home. They keep us grounded, make us smile, and remind us that we are loved. He's right, we love to get them and share them with our other 'family'. It's a great song

This is such a pretty song and such an important message for families with soldiers. A song with another incredible message is Tim McGraw's Humble And Kind - you can share it with kids. It is not meant to make you cry, but it may evoke emotion as a father

With this particular song, there’s another version that often gets played on the radio of it around Veterans Day of people reading parts of their letters to their loved ones in the Armed Forces. If you want a real tearjerker listen to that one.😢 it always manages to rip my heart out and shred it to little bitty pieces.

This song always makes me cry, but I come from a family with a long history of service. My dad was army, my grandfather and cousins navy, nephew in Air Force, and my brother in law is in one of those USA ships in the Middle East right now (the Eisenhower). The second verse makes me think of my sister and cry for her. I know she is more scared now than she ever has been for her husband. The line “man on the television said something so I couldn’t sleep” hits really close to home. We are all so very proud of him and his service but it definitely isn’t easy.

Takes a dead heart to not shed a tear at the dad part. Even with having loving parents both mom and dad, I can feel how powerful that letter was. And yes...I LOVE country music. Its the king of story telling. It can make you cry, laugh, get mad, uplift you, etc. It's just extremely relatable and cathartic at times.
And yeah, John Michael Montgomery is one of the kings of the 90s country music I grew up on.

I enlisted in the army in 2006 when I was 17 (you can with parental consent). I couldn’t comprehend at that age what I was getting myself into but I made the choice even though my folks tried to talk me out of it. It wasn’t fun or easy for me but it taught me a lot. I was lucky though. It could have been much worse and my parents wouldn’t have been able to recover. So while there was good that came from it, I put them through a lot more than I realized at the time.
My Mom would send me all these cards that played music and collages of stuff she cut out of magazines. Kind of looked like a child did them but it was all stuff she knew I loved and it always made me smile from ear to ear. It meant everything and I clung to them. My Dad would send one once in a while but I think it was almost too hard for him. He raised me like a boy but he wasn’t super thrilled when I started doing the more dangerous masculine things lol. Letters from home are priceless.

Country music originated in the south east United States. We all have that twang in our accent. Country music is always written from the heart of true life stories. We are touched by country music because of its relatable topics. I grew up on it and it's near to my heart

I remember a family member who did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan saying how much letters from hime meant to them, and morale. I was on the phone with them when rockets hit their base, and although there were only a few wounded i was then scated as hell for my family. These songs get me by the feels.

May sound a bit strange, but here goes- my father died when I was six years old, I have a few “pieces” of memories, but nothing really cohesive. I’m not sure if Daddy ever told me that he was proud of me, but if he did, I don’t remember it, & if it did happen, it would have been a small achievement, as I would have been six or younger. However, laugh if you will, a recent event changed that. I was told by a friend who is a very spiritual person & apparently has some abilities that I don’t have, she told me a lot about my father, including the fact that “he wants me to know that he is proud of me”… the emotion that brought out of me is indescribable. I’m 50 years old, & I never got to hear my daddy say that he is proud of me. This is the closest I can get, and I will tell you, I cried like a baby hearing that. There is nothing more important to a man, in my opinion, than knowing his father is proud of him. Now, if I was sitting in a creepy room filled with candles & had to pay some lady $100 to look into a crystal ball or whatever, no- I’m pretty skeptical of that type of thing, but this was completely different. Unsolicited, not paid, just a friend who I’ve only known a short time, & never knew my dad or anything about him, & everything she told me was spot on… it changed my life. Tell your kids that you are proud of them. Trust me.

There is a stupid saying about country music ... if you play a country song backwards, you get your wife back, your dog back, your house back, etc. Well if one takes the time to 'listen' to country music, it's about life. Every possible thing that happens in people's lives, is in country music. There is divorce, there is happiness, there is sadness, there is death, there is birth, there is cheating, there is love, there is patriotism, there is ...... Of course, in many songs, there is a twist, sometimes a wicked twist in the songs that you don't see coming but yes, 5 more minutes, this one Letters from home, American Soldier, Arlington, I'm My Own Grandpa, Before he Cheats, etc. That's why country music fans love it and understand it. The screaming hard metal songs are just one liners repeated dozens of times to make it seem like a song, but most of the time, their lyrics don't mean a thing and absolutely don't tug at one's heart strings or memories. That's my opinion anyway. Love your reactions as they are real and don't worry about crying, as we're crying with you. Thanks from Canada.

Day 77 of recommending the Beyblade openings.
There are the Japanese ones and the English ones. The English version has one opening for a generation, and that for the 1st and 2nd generation. The 3rd gen has one op for one season. But the Japanese version has multiple ops for a season in any gen. You should definitely check both versions out. I made playlists on my channel, so you don't need to search, cause in those compilations are a few off and not in the correct order. Thanks for checking out!

Okay. I have no idea this would be considered in anyway trans or homophobic, I really hope not. I don't consider myself those things. But this is an older hilarious country song that you might like for a break in the sadness? It's called "Bobbi with an i" I suppose it would be considered dated rather than outright trans or homophobic. Personally I think it's just silly and shows how many different variants of wonderful people are out there, even some people make fun. Rudely meanly or gently and playfully
