Jalan Besar has many nice food outlets. I saw few times, HK actor Hugo Ng hanging around the shops nearby probably he has many friends there. And my friend even saw Stephen Chow eating at 1 shop.
My first encounter with this laksa stall was during the 90s when the stall was at the kopishop near to the Kelantan Lane 2nd hand street market, opposite Lim Ah Boy motorcycle accessories shop. If i'm not wrong, it was sold at $1.50 for small and $2.50 big bowl. There was an old uncle standing behind the store keep stirring the laksa pot on a charcoal stove. I would say I love the taste back then. I can eat 2 to 3 bowls.
@@ErosinLionCity The small bowl $1.50 was served in rice bowl size. The $2.50 was served in a medium bowl size which was considered appropriate serving during those days. They cut the thick bee hoon into shorter pieces so we can easily eat it with spoon. Another laksa stall you can try is "Roxy Laksa" which claimed was founded in 1952. You can check out their FB page.
70 years, here is a huge ice ( 结霜 - hokkien for ice) block factory producing ice near bridge - 橋) . That is how the name came about. The ice factory was demolished for housing development.
Laksa is cooked by so many cooks, so instead of categorise the food by the location, why don’t we say the laksa is cooked by which cook? At the fundamental level, the cook made the food for us, not the location or the country.
I live nearby, but eat occasionally. Many years ago, a HK couple asked me for direction to this laksa stall. I brought them personally here. Nearby, at the Jalan Berseh Food Ctr, there's a fried oyster stall (Lim's Fried Oyster). Quite nice. Chillies to be served separately. Used to have a nice poh piah stall, but the hawker has since retired.

本人非常贊同妳對于食物發源地的見解,食物最重要的是合個人口味,美味與否則見人見智,結霜橋是福建語,廣東人稱之為淡水河,70年代一碗叻沙只賣一元,90年代搬遷到咖啡店才賣兩元,最近才賣3元。價錢漲了,碗還是一樣的小。😂
物價上升 3元也算便宜😋
以前是用新鲜椰子。现在应该是用包装的。所以应该少了一味,那就是古草味。
