thanks very much for watching, don't forget to subscribe, and give the video a thumbs up if you enjoyed!!
i never really thought about these videos as critiquing celebrities' tastes, it always just felt like a fun way to get book recommendations to me
Exactly. It's a very egocentric way of looking at it, from her.
Agreed tbh. Like I love Garfield a lot however I don't assume that these books interest me more about him as much as it interest me more to know if he has a similar taste to mine, so I can read more of his reccomendations
@@TheNikkePikker how is that egocentric? at the end of the day she is reading books and people are calling her taste bad like jack here, and some are saying its all for publicity?
@@luqman7970 Everyone has a different taste in books (and also everything else). If you share your favourites you just have to expect that other people will disagree. Especially on the internet.
@@kangaroo9816 and thats her point! she didnt invite us to have a discussion about her 'taste', she is just holding a book she is reading u dont know the story behind why she is reading it , maybe it could be a friends first book or a gift from her aunt etc.
What Kendall Jenner said is technically true to a certain extent, but as someone who chooses to share her private life in exchange for fame and fortune (and that's literally how she makes her money), she really has no basis to complain about people critiquing her recommendations.
Exactly! She put out her book recommendations for everyone to see, so there’s no reason to get mad since she didn’t actually keep it private
She never complained though. She said "what i like is personal and nobody's business" which i took as meaning she doesn't feel like justifying or validating her taste which is a fair thing to say. I don't understand the narrative people are spinning about her being super upset or playing the victim. She literally just said "this is for me Not you" and people are acting like she tweeted at Jack a personal FU or something
Everyone has a right to privacy but you've no right to complain when people interact with content you willingly post publicly, unless it's outright harassment or bullying or something and this really was just good-natured criticism.
no dude, she has all the rights.
@@asterismos5451 she didn't complain though. She just said her taste in reading is private to her. If we can criticize her taste she can also join in by saying "yeah well what i read is for me not you"
Jack, you are literally the only person in this world who can describe a book in such detail and NEVER even spoiling it.
He’s so talented at it😭
What are you talking about he routinely spoils books without warning in like the first sentence he says about them and then dgaf hahah
Totally
So true
Cool, I've been reading Tropic of Cancer except I like to pretend the character Van Norden is like a Bailey Jay, mite write my own book think I'll call it "Beyond the Valley of Penises"
Kendall literally recommended those books to 200mil + followers; can't get mad if someone makes a video about them.
I mean she posted those pics on Instagram people would obviously read them 😂
lmao yeah, she's just mad when someone doesn't like them and thinks her taste in books isn't pristine .
Yeah like you can keep some of these things to yourself. If you post it on instagram, people will have opinions about it…
Kendall Jenner: judging the books I like is an invasion to my privacy
also her: literally reccommended those books to her 200M+ followers on instagram
Invasion of her privacy but she posted her book recommendation online 🤣
Kendall Jenner: “Mind your damn business, Jack Edwards.”
Jack Edwards: “I think it’s a YOU problem.”
Or in other words: It's called IssYOU not IssME 😂
Hilarious!
@@princessissii That’s a good one 🔥
I mean it is a HER problem
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Kendall Jenner publicly post her "to read" list on her insta after people got interested in the photos she had that had books in them? I can understand the discomfort if other people made a "Kendall read these books" list on their own and critiqued them, but when you post a list of books you recommend for to share publicly to interested people on instagram it comes off as such a weird thing to complain about. You put the list expecting people will read the books and assumingly knowing they will have differing opinions because everyone has different tastes. The video wasn't critiquing her taste in books, it was simply critiquing the books themselves, which is bound to happen. Would she be saying the same thing if Jack loved every single book?
Not gonna mince my words, like she did the Pepsi commercial… she’s dense
A fair point!
Well said
That's exactly what I thought!. And yeah, Jack didn't like the books themselves because he has different tastes! Books, like any piece of art, are so subjective, so I really don't get her complaining about it. If someone, in this case a stranger on the internet, would dislike or even hate one of my favorites, I wouldn't take it as an insult aimed at me because they don't know me at all. They're talking about the media, not me.
To be the devil's advocate here, the video title for the Kendall Jenner book recommendations is "I read every book Kendall Jenner has recommended on Instagram and her taste is... questionable," which is a clear judgment on her personal taste. I'm not saying Jack was wrong not to like the books or make these kinds of videos (I, like many others, love them), but Kendall is not entirely wrong in her remark either.
Not Kendall calling out a UA-camr whose channel literally consists of book reviews to "mind his business" when she's the one who put out those books in display. I bet she wouldn't say "mind your business" if only Jack praised her taste in literature.
Why is the comments filled with kendall. i thought this video was about andrew lol
@@hgjh9765 because i think everybody is slightly irritated at the audacity kendall portrayed in that interview
yeah...... i guess kendall took the spotlight. is this similar to ruining someone else's wedding 🤣
@@hgjh9765 yea the dumb one always get the spotlight, because they're making more stupid scene
kendall jenner seemed like she just can't comprehend jack not having the exact same views of the books as her. these videos are genuinely awesome, and jack is the absolute least malicious guy on the internet. if she doesn't wanna be part of the celebrity book club, then screw her! great video as always!
Kendall: Reading is personal to me. That's nobody's business.
Y'all: OMG SHES SOOOO UPSET SOMEONE DOESNT LIKE EXACTLY WHAT SHE LIKES WTFFFF SHES FAMOUS THOUGH SHE CANT HAVE FEELINGS!!!!
If she wanted her reading taste to stay private, she wouldn't have posted it on the internet. She's just salty someone didn't like the books she recommended despite Jack being incredibly honest and fair in his reviews. I don't feel bad for her at all. She's famous across the world and makes millions and thinks complaining about an educational youtuber who I doubt makes anywhere near as much as her is acceptable.
@@hcstubbs3290 you guys took Jack joking "she dragged me through filth" way too seriously. She didn't "punch" a UA-camr. She literally said books are private and nobody's business and you guys are acting like she's personally started a Twitter beef with him or something.
@@3vivkshe said something utterly idiotic as if her taste that she made public is private and that somebody is a bad person for criticising it.
@@thebasedgodmax1163 she literally just said that what she reads is personal to her and nobody's business. How is that accusing Jack of being a bad person for criticizing her taste?
Yaaaas I have been waiting for your next “reading celebrities recommendations” video! They are so much fun, and Andrew was such a great choice
Andrew's choice in books is actually inspiring!
the best way i can describe kendall jenner’s taste in literature is “shallow”. i’ve read the books because i was curious to see for myself what the books were and yeah… shallow. also, she got upset about jack’s review when it genuinely looks like she displayed the books like that just for the interview? did she not think people would try to read the books she did? or is she upset we didn’t think they were as profound as she did?
moreover, did she even read those books herself?
im sorry i disliked it was an accident 0_0
@@jasmijnschalekamp9255 dislikes are both reversible, and literally do nothing
I don't think she is upset with it, but there is no reason to criticize somebody's taste, even if shallow.
@@preci9938 yeah jack just said like it is and Kendall went on her famous people interview to pinpoint a small youtuber , we'll salty tbh
Being called out by a supermodel about your critique of her reading list is the most Jack Edwards thing to ever happen lol
literally lmfao
It's so funny. I feel bad for Edward. Imagine how it must feel but its so funny!
i've heard it said you have to read catcher in the rye three times:
first as a teenager, who can relate to holden,
again in your 20's, so you can hate him for being a shitty, whiny teenager,
and again as an older adult, so you can forgive him(and yourself) for being a shitty, whiny teenager
Holden ain't relatable lemme tell ya
Just goes to show I've had an old brain since I was young.
I had to read this for GCSE English Literature and I was the only one in my class who hated it.
I've missed rereading in my 20s but maybe a reread at 38 is in order
I read it for the first time when I was about 15 and it became my favorite book pretty much instantly. I'm 26 now and I still love it. I've read it so many times.
omggg im about to be 17 so ill read it rn!!!
Hmmmmm, read it once as a 16 year old and... immediately hated him. Managed to end up pitying him for his hypocrisy and flaws a bit later. But I still don't like when people use this book as a barometer for taste or IQ or EQ.
Andrew Garfield is such an intriguing man, I love watching his interviews. Would love to listen to him talk hours about books. Imagine him coming to Jack's channel to discuss books, it would be *perfect*.
Is anyone surprised that Andrew Garfield has excellent taste in books?!
Sometimes I imagine being a celebrity, running around with books very visible/posting them etc and to hope that they might get their way into one of his videos
Have your friends take paparazzi style photos of you and then DM those to Jack on twitter or Instagram
yes.

It's currently past 2am for me and this bit about Kendall is CRACKING ME UP 😭
You need to frame that Kendall Jenner article and put it on your wall! Lol!! If she didn’t want to be judged by what she’s reading she should buy a kindle
Yeah, thats what I do when I read hot romance with those awful "naked man" covers 🤣
I have the guilty pleasure of reading children’s books😭I just read them on my kindle lol
Omg is kindle/Kendall a pun👀
e no shame in that! Children’s books/middle grade books are great and fun, often with heartwarming messages :)
@@Emy-fh1zn they’re so heart-warming, it’s the main reason I love them
She SHARED her reading choices, but then retroactively declared them private?
Alright, that's a new one.
Calling The Catcher in the Rye "the marmite of books" is just so accurate. I fall into the unpopular opinion of loving it.
i didn't realize that it wasn't well-loved... interesting
Same, I know it's one of the more hated "classics" and I don't think it's my favorite piece of classic literature or anything, but I really do love it. Holden watching Phoebe on the carousel so happy he's almost to the point of crying and Holden talking about Allie are always moments that get me
Can anyone explain to me what marmite is ?😭
@@misabmalbari4575 its a savoury food spread. People tend to put it on toast.
@@misabmalbari4575 What frog says is correct, but what might also be useful to know is:
- it's almost exclusively enjoyed in the UK or its former colonies
- most importantly, most people think it's absolutely vile except for a decent group within those places (UK or former colonies). And because of that, and because it's a shared childhood memory for a lot of those people, it's become sort of something British people flock to to either revel in their Britishness or compare anything polarising to.

I LOVE Andrew Garfield and your celebrity book club is one of my favorite series on your channel 💜💜 thanks for the book recommendations ☺️
I feel like Andrew Garfield could himself write a book someday, the way he describes the most mundane things, the way he genuinely appreciates art and the entire process of it, transcending basic actions to an extraordinary level ! Fell in love with him a little more after this video ❣
Everytime I'm like "maybe Kendall Jenner is not that bad..." she goes and says/does something stupid 🙄
She’s is the most unlikeable celebrity imo
Ikr i mean seriously 😐 😂
what so stupid about wanting privacy?
@@tothemoonbase there’s nothing stupid about wanting privacy but if she wanted “privacy” then she shouldn’t post things online. obviously everyone has different taste in books therefore if she didn’t want people to comment on her interest she shouldn’t have made them known.
Nah, she makes millions and millions and millions from being a celeb, moaning about a side effect of that elicits very little sympathy from me. Ppl can critique a public figure & the stuff she openly recommends or visibly carries, if she really wanted it private you wouldnt know 😭😭 keep it up Jack!!!!
Well posting sth online still doesn’t make it anyone’s business but hay let our boy earn his living 😭😭
And really, is seeing someone reading a book or hearing someone talk about a book, reading that same book, and then saying "I didn't like that book" a personal attack? Or an invasion of privacy? Imagine your friend told you about a book they were reading, you read it too to see what it's like but didn't like it, and that friend was like "ummm don't read the books I like and critique them!!! that's a private personal thing for me!!!!!!" like wtf she doesn't own the rights to who can and can't read books or comment on them.
@May did you just say someone not liking the books you read could be traumatizing. "She also didn't ask anyone to follow her on social media. we just do it." please she would cry if everyone unfollowed her today. There's plently of celebrities that simply don't have social media or use it but under an anon account. If she didn't want to be in the public eye, she could remove herself right now
It's crazy to think about this with any other profession. Like, imagine following a chef home and demanding that he cook you another meal because that's his job and you've paid to go to their restaurant so that means that they should expect to cook at a moment's notice. A celebrity being an entertainer or model doesn't mean they can't read a book in a park without any privacy. Yes it's a side effect, and i don't necessarily pity her, but to act like we're entitled to stalk her when she leaves her house and she has no right to complain at all is just a weird mentality to have and to try and justify. Not that you specifically are doing the stalking or are advocating for it, but saying someone can't complain about not having privacy because of their occupation is weird to me.
I agree. There are some “celebs” do live private lives look at Daniel Radcliffe or Cillian Murphy . She makes money from being in the public a lot of money too. That’s the point of being a “celeb celeb” she doesn’t have any other job. It’s not like she is an actor or presenter or musician . She is barely a model
If kendall jenner really wanted her reading habits to be private she wouldn't share the books she read.
It's not like you broke into her house to see what books are on her shelves...
Exactly. I don’t think certain people have a concept of not posting everything they do online!
LMFAO out of context but i just had a mental image of jack just breaking into someones house to check their bookshelves and i cant stop laughing

I absolutely love this series. I’ve recently gotten back into reading and something I appreciate about Jack’s videos is his honesty and ability to critique books beyond “it was good/ bad” it’s something I never really thought about and I assumed I had an obligation to just like every book I read, but I’ve really loved listening to Jack talk about various books and honestly it’s helped me be a better reader ( because I’m not as afraid to say the things I feel work/ don’t really work for me about a story). Also it’s just good fun to watch ❤️- Kira
I love this series! Andrew Garfield's taste in reading did not disappoint. I understand the appeal of good and likable characters but flawed and complex characters have always felt like home to me.
Letters to a young poet is such an incredible book. I have tabbed the hell out of it
For a video you should read authors first and latest/last book.
The amount of books I add to my tbr every time I watch your videos is insane but you describe them in a way that’s it’s impossible to not want to read them
I really like your new transitions of the quote and then closing the book. Gives me Wes Anderson vibes ✨
You elevate my reading experience. I enjoy these vlogs as much as I enjoy reading the books you critic.
I love the Kendal bags on you about “nothing is private” but has had a show on television about her life for the past…..what…..20 seasons or something?
To be fair I feel like she was too young when it started to really have a choice about being in the show, so I can see how that would be weird as you grow up and realize you wish you'd had a more normal and private childhood. BUT. Yeah I think her acting like Jack's video was invasive, when he only talked about books she brought up and recommended in interviews, is pretty uncool of her.
These are my absolute favorite videos! Keep doing celebrity book recommendations

Shows lack of maturity from Kendall because different people do have different opinions about books. Jack giving his view on her choices is completely fine as there are thousands of other people sharing their views on the same books?? Also, she shouldn’t be carrying around her books in public or posting about them if she wants it to be a ‘personal experience’, given that she’s a public figure. Love LOVE celebrity book club and literally everything you post Jack!
How is Kendall saying that her taste in books is personal to her and nobody's business showing a lack of maturity? If someone said they hated something i loved I'd reply with "well i personally like it and it's definitely good to me". That's what I got from her comment. @@3vivk Somebody criticized her taste in literature and her immediate response was "I'm so rich and famous that I can't even read a book without people judging me". If she doesn't want to be judged by her taste in literature then she can read privately or buy some book sleeves. I don't know about you, but there are books I don't read in public, and I don't frequently run into people that are going to write articles about the books I read.
I LOVE ANDREW GARFIELD, I LOVE BOOKS AND I LOVE THIS VIDEO ❤
i will also definitely be adding all of these books to my tbr hehee :)
Great video as always! Love Andrew so this was awesome :)) i appreciated your commentary on catcher in the rye because I’ve always found it a fascinating insight into a psyche not necessarily like my own or relatable yet raw and human and thus very gripping to read
If you like Rilke you have to read The Panther. Is so short but so ingenious. Rilke combines the structure of the poet with the story he wants to portray and I so so hope it's the same with the englisch translation because the german version was a blessing
You did one of my favorite actors!! Can you possibly do Ben Barnes? He has some great book recs!
Kendall Jenner only wanted to stir the pot and she should be the one to keep her nose out of this channel.
Jack is not bothering anyone by sharing his opinion about the books that celebrities read, in fact this section brings us closer to the artists' work such as the Taylor Swift videos. It gives depth to what celebrities have in mind, catches their attention and is their philosophy in life.
Also Jack is being honest and is okay if he doesn't like the same books as her.
Plus, if Kendall is super concerned maybe we should all just keep our hands away even from writing negative reviews about the books she likes (although we didn't) even from Goodreads because poor her, her taste in books is being questioned by a bunch of random strangers on the internet (/sarcasm).
She literally just said "what i like to read is personal to me and isnt for anybody else" and you wrote a think piece on how she has no right to be upset even though she never said she was. Weird
@@3vivk You know what's really weird? All the comments you're posting trying to excuse her.
Not only are you replying to me but also to a lot of viewers who don't agree with you. Either you're seeking for some attention that, besides this reply, I refuse to give you or you're a very young person who needs to understand that a lot of people will not agree with the Kardashians and we have all the right in the world, including Jack, to have an opinion about their questionable taste in books.
If Kendall thinks that her book choices are "personal to her" then she should have never made them public in the first place. She could have kept a personal reading journal instead.
@@RebeDrawsStuff I'm allowed to express my opinions to you and everybody else. You posted a comment publically on a public video, so by your own logic, you are seeking attention and shouldn't be so upset when someone disagrees with you. I also never said in any of my comments that nobody is allowed to disagree or dislike the Kardashians. I just find it strange that people are twisting one small sentence she said about her taste being personal to her and not for anybody but her to make it seem like she's personally attacking everybody who doesn't like the books she likes. I just think you misunderstood what she said and hold a different point of view than you do, and ironically, you're doing exactly what you accuse Kendall of doing. Kinda funny
@@3vivk the only problem we've got with kendall is the way she doesn't want to be judged for something she put up on social media for millions of people to see and then expected those millions of people to mind their own business when that clearly wouldn't happen when you're sharing your life with so many people...
@@idknanmolla1710 that's fair, but people are acting like she's done a horrendous horrible thing. Sure, she was being defensive. If I were to post publically my favorite books and someone made a post saying "____'s taste is bad" I can't say I wouldn't be just as upset by it, even though I invited criticism for posting it publicly. I think that's normal. And Jack laughed about it in the beginning and end of his video, so I don't think he's offended. So I just find it strange that so many people are super fixated on this one thing she said as if she's a monster for it.
IMO there are so many ligitimate things we could criticize the Kardashian/Jenners for. Like their exploitation of cheep labor, cultural appropriation, and stealing from smaller creators. I feel like making every single thing they say and do a huge deal diminishes the fair criticism they get on the important stuff. If me making a meme makes thousands of people hate and say horrible things about me why would I listen when something supposedly actually bad happens? They both elicit the exact same response. I don't think we can blame them for being out of touch when we make every little thing such a big deal.
Rilke’s letters to a young poet is like THAT book. I just carry it w me in my backpack everywhere I go
