I think it looks quite cool, great review as always Tish. I must admit I love my Sportage HEV so exciting to see what cars KIA have coming through in the future. If the electric pickup truck concept happens that was floating around reddit last week, that would be a pretty epic future KIA too.
A very good informed review. My initial impressions are positive. The EV3s design both inside and out is appealing with no obvious letdowns. I hope the EV3 is offered with some decent paint colours. Currently the best red paint colour comes from Mazda. A stand out paint colour is like icing on the cake.
Seen this car in flesh. It’s truly fantastic and really eye catching. It’s larger than you think and the room inside is class leading. It’s very impressive and will be a winner if the price is competitive vs its rivals.
The fact that tesla and koreans are embarrassing the so called juggernaut automakers from japan and germany is truly laughable. This looks like a decent car.
Kia and Hyundai are very well established and it’s insulting to them suggesting they’ve just appeared. As for Tesla, look at the sliding sales figures and huge cost saving programme currently underway. Just when Tesla needs to growing its shrinking.
@@dominicr4740 Kia/Hyundai have only really upped their game in the 2020s so its pretty recent. Tesla isnt focussed on being a car company. Theyre all in on autonomy and robo taxis. Their 25k will be stellar im sure but thats 2years out. Their model 3&Y is still class leading & is the best selling car in the world.
Kia has come a long way from a lemon in ‘90s. Way to go!! In fact, Hyundai &Kia will be the 2nd largest automaker in the near future. German and Japanese companies are not ready for the next game!!
As the world's third-largest automaker, Hyundai is a giant. And in 2020??? Hyundai and Kia will be sorely disappointed. Like Tesla, South Korea's Hyundai and Kia are reaping the fruits of years of preparation and hard work. When it comes to electric car technology, Hyundai and Kia seem to be the best. The batteries used in their cars are produced by three Korean companies with some of the best technology in the world, so there seems to be more synergy.
KIA EV3 for me is probably the best electric car KIA has made so far. Niro is too ordinary, EV6 too sporty, EV9 too big. They should have left the rear door handle where it belongs. It's tragic what problems the free space between driver and passenger causes for EV designers and how badly they manage it, including the EV3. What KIA should be particularly commended for is the bi-directional charging capabilities. Despite my minor quibbles, as I said, for me the best EV KIA yet. Small cars like the Volvo EX30 and Smart #3 are no match for it.
Great review from a cutie-very clear and concise- like your style and naturalness. I have my EV3 on order - it will also give me more space in my garage another 50 cm. 👏👏👏
To date, it all looks super impressive, but I'm waiting for the test drive videos and range confirmations. I think you may have overlooked the storage underneath the retractable table and there's also more storage in all four doors. I like the rear door latches up high, but I don't have small children. This is the first EV that I'm actually excited about. Will definitely be test driving this charming, little lady once she arrives on our shores.
Waiting for this car to be unveiled in Australia next year. It is good to be based on the 400V architecture since it gives KIA more chance to compete with its Chinese rivals.
Great video, Tish. It's a nice car and definitely wins points over the Volvo EX30 by having a digital drivers display and physical buttons for climate. I just wish they stuck with centre storage and cup holders. Surely they're more useful than a table?
Along with BYD I'd place KIA in the car industry disruptor segment at the moment. You only have to look at the new tariffs countries are placing on these companies to see they're worried about the financial fragility of US automakers
How do you let this rear wiper thing go trough the video editing? Currently both Kia Sportage and Kia Sorento have this same wiper situation under the spoiler so it's not even unique for this model. Quite many manufacturers actually do the same to clean up the design and I think that is a great look and I would recon northern countrys with snow will appreciate the hiding of the wiper so it wont be stuck frozen with snow when parked.
My job is a lot trickier than it looks. Usually I get the information to flick through for 30 minutes (nothing about wipers in there) before jumping into the studio, to get us much content in as little time as possible. I prepare, film, edit all myself and in this instance, in that short amount of time, I didn’t even think that it could have been under the spoiler. I understand your point if it was a big channel, with multiple people checking over the content but I am just one person and occasionally it’s easy to make mistakes. I have pinned a comment on this video explaining the wiper situation.
Love it, only not that you do not have storage in center console… the rest is lovely. I can agree with the climate control… although my temperature is always on 20 degrees the whole year so I do not need it. (On auto) Which car is best in class for the backseats?
I'd rather have the charging port in front as in the Niro EV. Also disappointed with the lack of the 800V architecture. Otherwise it looks like another great EV, just like the Niro - compact on the outside, but spacious inside. Can't wait for a real life test 🙂.
High rear door handles are the most awkward design, you have to lift your elbow high, or grab it in a contrived way and only with your fingernails - hate them since the Clio's!! lol, great great review as always; extremely well researched, delivered and video'd
This looks great. However what happened to the KIA logo on the steering wheel? it's off to one side lol. I like where the rear door handles are. I do not think an EV9 or an EV6 are premium. They are expensive yes but premium no. I sat in both and the quality of materials in both was a disappointment. Still great cars for what they are do. However I think the current Kia Sportage is still KIAs best car so far especially uts dash and digital cluster. No one has done a dash with a digital cluster as stylish ir classy as the one in the current KIA Sportage not even KIA itself.
Not too sure about the rear camera placement. The one on my Niro EV gets covered in sh(sorry) muck almost every day it's at least damp. This appears to be even more exposed. Other than that it's a good looking car, but I bet it works out same sort of price the Niro EV is.
Not a fan of the pull-out table. Most people will never use it. Complete waste of space. Also don't like the 3 screens in one and how thick the bezels are. Other than that, the car looks great.
“With the whole world ramping up their EV sales” said no one ever in the past 3 months, your statement could be more opposite from the truth. See SMMT figures on EV sales. Home work required.
This car is where ev company's should be focusing, a modern looking, great mileage/charging, good room for passengers, great boot space, with the only design mistake being the central shelf. The shelf is useless. Now it's down to the price; if it's around 20000 euros, yes, a winner if it's 30,000, no.
Well done again for a great review. When other reviewers produce videos that's reminiscent of an advert, or give the impression that that they've been paid handsomely by the car manufacturer, Trish isn't afraid to point out criticisms. Overall, I think a great deal of thought has gone into the design of this car. I hope they get the pricing right. I know that the Citroen e3 is in a completely different market the the Kia EV3 makes the Citroen e3 seem so underwhelming and incomplete.
It looks decent but I have no interest in any EV until they are in the 400-500 miles range. 410 kilometers is about 253 miles which wouldn't even get me across the state of Wisconsin without having to charge. Our Nissan Rogue gets about 450 miles per tank.
if a vehicle is well enough designed a rear wiper is unnecessary. If a car needs a rear wiper it tells me it is a poor design. My own car only has one wiper at the front because it doesn't need two. I therefore only have one wiper blade to ever replace. Does the EV3 have a heat pump to increase the efficiency?
Why do these manufacturers constantly design electric cars to look like stupid looking electric cars and who understands (or wants to understand🙄) about kw per hour🤔 all I know when I fill my ice car up with petrol which take about 3 minutes I know straight away how much it’s going to cost me and how many miles I can go!……and give it 5 years and it’ll be in landfill!

What a clever design! It does look so much cleaner without a visible wiper!
There is a rear wiper. It's hidden under the wing protruding from the roof.
I like the fresh look, definitely very appealing. ❤
I can’t wait to see the EV3 in person in the future, maybe in the Everything Electric in London event next year.
Cracking video this one. Lots of your constructive opinions and references to the competition and lots of good detail information.
It actually has a hidden rear wiper. Thankfully, they stopped to put the rear lights too low.
